At any point in the story was an inheritance mentioned ? , I don’t remember if the boys had a trust fund hiding someplace left by their maternal grandparents. I can see Calvin only being motivated by access to free money in wanting his Sons back .

My dad thought chickens would be great to have , I being the only boy got stuck cleaning their coop out weekly and egg gathered daily . I liked the little bantams best , Sweet things that laid smaller eggs 🪺
