Cave-In is less of a bed and more of a rollaway. Musty, well-used, and uncomfortable, with more than a couple screws loose. He’s been folded up and put away more times than a hotel sheet, and he’s about as clean too.

I don’t think Hank has any interest in spelunking in that particular Kavern any time soon. Not enough depth to it. He’d rather chase a waterfall if only because then at least he can clean up his act. If they can reconcile their past mistakes with where they want to go from here, I agree that it could be a new beginning for Chase and Hank. Or Bank. It may have been a typo but that isn’t a roll of quarters in his pocket. You know, Chase National is a bank and I bet Hank wouldn’t mind making a deposit. Could be their ship name.

I understand where Brent is coming from. He’s humiliated. Perry used him and then disappeared because his plans fell through, leaving Brent to clean up the mess. After giving up on ever finding happiness with Dawson, he feels resigned to his fate. Sure, he may have residual feelings for Perry — it’s only natural — but it’s how he feels about Dawson that has him wanting to spare him from ruining his life like Brent thinks he did his own. Dawson would uproot his life in a minute if Brent asked him to and he knows that. But how can he ask him after all this time? Perry, by the way, strikes me as a sociopath. He wanted equity and Brent’s money was supposed to buy him that. He would’ve distanced himself as soon as the motel started turning a profit or, more likely, as soon as it didn’t. It was never about who Brent was, just what he could do for Perry. If they’d gotten the airport, I suspect Brent would’ve met with an untimely demise.

Ugh, you know it’s a good one when a double-sized chapter feels shorter than a normal one. So this is how Dawson exits Endings and enters his own story. Can’t say I saw it coming this soon but I had his and Brent’s love affair pegged as a subject you’d explore at length. You wouldn’t mention love that unrequited without having plans for another story in the works and I know you won’t disappoint. Besides, Chase and Hank need a destination for their honeymoon. Why not a tourist town in the Yukon where there’s a hotel they can get a good deal on? Shocking, I know, but I’m proud of Dawson for taking this chance. It’s a second chance, really, and isn’t that what we’ve wanted for Hank and Chase? For me it is and I couldn’t be happier that Dawson is taking the bull by the horns by not allowing what Brent left unsaid to remain so. The bottom line is that his best friend needs him and to him that’s reason enough to risk it all. Which is also why Chase’s support was so important: Dawson needed reassurance that he wasn’t fucking everything up. Some might say it’s reckless for him to pull up stakes and go, but he has a plan, he has some money saved, and he has an excellent support system to call back on. As for a job — well, a hotel isn’t going to market itself. Dawson can put his degree to good use and help buoy a business that means a lot to him because it’s important to Brent. It also gives Dawson a “legitimate” foil for any guilt Brent might have over his friend uprooting his life. This was a turning point for Chase too. Not only did he find closure with his mom’s death and the end of his and Hank’s past relationship, but he handled a new and similar ending admirably. He didn’t retreat. He didn’t spiral and I doubt he will. Instead, he stepped into the role Hank played so many times before and was able to offer Dawson reassurance and support while asking some tough questions. He proved he wasn’t the same broken man we met in chapter one and that’s massive. During the course of their conversation, they touched on a few points I suspect Chase will take to heart with Hank. The man truly needed to be hit over the head before he realized his part in their breakup and his subsequent emotional abuse of Chase. Also, Hank needs Chase in his life even if he doesn’t know it yet and vice versa, whatever iteration that relationship takes. Beyond that even, knowing what Perry did to Brent and what Dawson is willing to do to change that may give Chase and Hank perspective into their own problems. I hope Dawson inspires Hank to take matters into his own hands and do whatever it takes to prove himself to Chase. He’s a lot like Brent in his pride — for good and for bad — and like Brent (and Chase) he needs to learn to stand on his own two feet. If Chase can relate what happened, their story may just offer Hank a road to redemption. And back into Chase’s arms, where he belongs. You outdid yourself with this one, Gary. The fireworks were relatively minor but the chapter was meaningful and not only because Chase finally came to terms with Christine’s death. To me this seems almost like a new leg of the journey — not a new beginning per se but a different and equally thrilling path.

No, he’s suggesting training exercises because of how intolerant you are. Dairy deserves respect too. (I’m lactose sensitive, so of course I have to say that.)

No matter how much I try, nor how many times you tell me it isn’t happening, I can’t not think Jeff and Simon would be perfect together. They could easily and comfortably fill the gaps in each other’s lives. Which I suppose they could do as friends but if their relationship did progress, it would be a most natural evolution. Not that Freddie and Vee aren’t great, ‘cause they are pretty much who I would’ve hung out with at sixteen. The foursome click in a way that’s special, each adding to the mix without detracting from the others. Even Dante Mann has given Simon a new perspective. What he overheard his mom telling Nikki may come out eventually, and it’ll be good to get it out in the open, but Jeff was right to suggest letting it happen naturally. Simon is in no position to confront or confide in either woman, so it’s wonderful that he has friends who care so much about him and are willing to listen. Damn, circled around to Jeff again. Less than a month in and he already gets Simon in a way the others don’t. Okay, enough campaigning. Well, until next chapter, that is . . .

Unemployment, Unlocked!

That thought struck me too, but Sabrina doesn’t seem like Jett’s type. Too much sass, not enough slut. The idea of Carina bugged me enough that I had to go look her up. It’s all I can do to avoid Patreon spoilers, ‘cause I wanna know! -
The best dad joke is an untold dad joke. Now, a Helen Keller joke, on the other hand . . .

What a perfect chapter. Grant reaped the benefits of finally letting go of the journal and, in a way, earned his place in Troy’s group of friends. Their friends. He was at ease with himself and with being openly affectionate with Troy, and that did wonders for both men because Troy too was relaxed, playful even. More so now that the journal has sort of put John’s ghost to rest and allowed Troy the closure he needed to give himself fully to Grant. When sore muscles and morning sickness are the worst problems facing the group, you know it’s the calm before the storm. But you didn’t give us an opportunity to dwell on the upcoming fireworks. You gave us a chapter full of contentment and warmth, and that’s about as indulgent as an Irish coffee at nine a.m. (or a certain redhead tongue bathing his friend’s sore muscles). Speaking of gentle giants — even Brian’s tears were things of joy. After this chapter, I’m fully confident Grant and Troy can weather the coming storm and maybe even thaw the frigid demeanor of Mrs Danvers. (The nickname stuck in my head, what can I say?)

Unemployment, Unlocked!

Looks like someone Carina got out of prison shortly after DeLouise. Or broke out. April made a mistake by posting his number to Dan’s public profile when a very well-connected and singleminded ex-felon is looking for him. He was desperate though, so I can’t fault him. Riveting chapter, Laura — in many ways. -
In other words, you’re a Lady Bunny fan.

Agreed. It’s not often we’re awarded a glimpse of pure joy in Hell (outside of a certain fawn’s immutable glee), and Eostra did not disappoint us. In a realm where so many meet their end, a festival revering new life. The orgy wasn’t half bad either. Kiorl in his element, being worshipped like the feline he is — that too was a nice, if brief, change. Poor Kiorl can’t escape his loneliness. I hope Pulo is able to prove himself both in the Hunt office and as more than another distraction for the big ole panther. With four muscles arms, he’s got to give good hug, among other things. And, since he’s already proven to be a quick study, whatever he doesn’t know, he’ll dutifully learn at Kiorl’s . . . knee.

I think I heard the windows rattle as we the readers let out a collective sigh of relief. I can’t describe how pleased I am by Grant’s final show of courage and Troy’s graciousness. What could have been the bomb that detonated their relationship turned out to be the moment Grant’s love really cemented itself in Troy’s chest. He is loved, he is protected, and by two men who would turn the world upside down to be with him. The boys may have had a relationship together but I consider this the start of their future together. No more secrets between them and with true friends at their backs, they can embrace the past and use what they gained from it — the good and the bad — to shore up the home they built in each other. You done good. (Now, how about the ABCs: Aaron + Brian = Cum)
