mm, more you could develop the thought. He's proud of how he did at 112 as a freshman, but how about at 150 as a sophomore? 112 is a small 14 yr old, and 185 is a big 17 yr old. 113lbs is the second smallest (to 106) weight class in WV HS, and 190 is the third biggest (215 &285). (They change the classes often enough this doesn't even count as an anachronism, it was 182 and 195 in 2021). Lots of boys have teen growth spurts. 6" - 70 lbs in 3 years is a big one, but its no rarer than green eyes, and it's your character. But as a wrestler, he's been through nine weight classes in three years. It's something he'd mention (and you touch on it, Greg says he wants to stay at 185). And yup on the bullies - if you're telling us he's smart enough to know it's not safe for him to be out (and he seems pretty together) then I'll take it that he knows his school.

Yep, interesting start. State wrestling champ at 185 and worried about bullies is a bit odd. Not that jerks couldn't attack him, but good wrestlers usually have a LOT of body confidence. 112 to 185 is a huge jump. People grow a lot in high school alright, but wow!

Well, I just got here, and read through after you posted the epi. I have a few nitpicks (do teenage boys in Nebraska call each other "mate"?), but I thought the overall set up and story are great and pretty intriguing. There's always DMs. (Especially re Sean and Mal, who feel tailored; if Patrick was just an off-the-rack high school bully, that's a perfectly good ending).

Ugh, I was pointed in the right direction on "Chad" recognizing the room number, and then sidestepped off into "completely wrong." The way you wrote River's recovery from the early shocks and pain to "LaDon and the guys came in like a pack of mother wolves" is pretty amazing writing. Gano is wonderful. The idea that you know the the guy is into you when you see the portrait they drew is pretty standard stuff around here. Gano is all that plus very fresh and funny and very current. And it's so fun that anthro/fur works so well crossing the gaps between the art-school guys and the sportsbros. 🦏 If you find (or become) the artist for this, can 2-slot go to LaDon and the boys as a pack of wolves? 🐺🐺🤕🐺🐺

I feel this epilogue needs an expansion pack or something. Excellent twist, but what about the other loose ends? I'm into these characters, but I HAVE QUESTIONS 1) Sean: is the rainbow flag for him? or his Dad(s)? Will we see him at the march, with Dad(s) and/or Josh and Levi? 2) Mal: an outsider for some reason? or just the ordinary quiet kid that grew into a hottie under the nose of the locals? is he into Jordy for himself, or as a stepping stone to Shannon? 3) Patrick: mayor's kid is a violent goth-punk? that's weird. And why so angry? 4) Monica: can she grow into a real friend and a high-school jungle guide?
