Some single mothers seem indefatigable, as they take care of children, do housework, laundry, cook meals, and hold down a job outside of the home. -

From the Latin: in (not) + de (completely) + fatigare (to tire out) = indefatigabilis to the Middle French, indefatigable, to English in the 17th century defatigable mean to tire out easily or become fatigued easily -
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed this story. I also remember taking trips with my grandparents, and we often packed picnic lunches too, if the trips weren't that far away from home. When they were longer trips we would stop at a restaurant, usually something like a Howard Johnson Restaurant. I'm glad this evoked some good memories for you.

I'm glad the information I provided in this story was sufficient to resurrect these memories for you. It sounds as if it was a wild and interesting time. And thank you for taking the time to write and let me know this information. It's much appreciated. And if you were 22 back in '66, then you're only 4-5 years older than me.

I'm sure there are a few mom & pop type parks around the country, although there are fewer and fewer all the time. That's because insuring the parks for liability (in case of those unexpected accidents), electricity or gasoline to run the rides, and the staffing costs are going up all the time. I'm not sure about places with model cities, although I do know there are train models, some set up around specific cites or locations. And thank you for the information you've shared. You won't be missing them for long, so just enjoy Christmas with family and friends and these characters will return for the New Year.

Ok, I'm caught up and it was another wonderful chapter. Now, I can't wait for Friday so I can see Harry's reaction to everything that has been done at his house. I was wondering if Michael might stay there with him for a few days, since the doctor said he might need some assistance.

I may not even be around to write a book 3, but at least my editor would be able to work something out with GA to post the remaining chapters I've written. You're saying it doesn't mean to dig another trench? 😜 It's especially appropriate with the economic situation we've been going through and companies have been cutting costs and spending.

Yes, the first time we saw Charlie and Michael in the location, some of Max's crew was yelling slurs at them, but everyone shut up when they saw Max. He later told the boys those yelling the slurs would be gone, since he wouldn't put up with that. I think the others know better now.

Thanks for the reminder, Terry, and thank you for your constant support. The thing is, you didn't read the end note on the chapter, because it said I would post the first chapter of Book 2 on New Year's Eve Day. That way you'd have it to read if you didn't have a date that night, or you could read it on New Year's Day. And thank you in advance for what I believe you might be planning to do next.

That picture gives them the correct hair color, but Michael doesn't appear to be ill, as he does on the page with all the chapter links.

Not a big problem, just a little confusing. Either that or Mancunian can make them both blonds. lol

This is a very old amusement park and I may have changed some details to more the chapter more interesting, like the safety harnesses. They don't, however, sell food and I'm not sure why. I wasn't able to find that information when writing this chapter. I didn't know about the popcorn at the Michael Garman Museum. That must have been left off the info I received. And I hope hearing about the food at Poor Richard's made you too hungry. I'm really happy that you enjoyed Book 1 and I hope you enjoy Book l2 as much, or maybe even more. And Merry Christmas to you as well, and I'll save my Happy New Year for you as well.
