  1. A Tale from the Portuguese. lol Sorry. I just couldn't resist that little play on words, while thinking of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "Sonnets From the Portuguese." . Since I'm hooked on the television show "Once Upon a Time" and love fantasy stories, I enjoyed your tale. I'm glad you submitted it, enjoyed the subtle twists, including the cliffhanger ending. Nice job!
  2. Very emotional and very interesting that he sees the light in the darkroom. Was that the light seeping in that ruined his picture of reality?
  3. That's pretty much what I just told Cia too and I'm glad you enjoyed how this turned out.
  4. Thanks, Cia, and you're right. Life doesn't always work out the way we want and incidents don't always end fairly. I thought it would be better leaving the rednecks thinking that they had been bested by a gay man and possibly even owe their lives to him. Besides, they'll end up paying a bit to retrieve their belongings.

    Fair Enough

It was an interesting solution indeed, but was the servant actually the leak? I also hope that she didn't get half of his estate.
  6. Yes, I'm surprised we even have an armed forces left, after all the dire predictions I'd heard about what would happen if gays were allowed to serve openly in the military. And attitudes toward gays and acceptance of gay marriage is changing as well. As someone said on television today, the opposition to gays and gay marriage is literally dying out, as those old, religious conservatives move on to their final rest. Either there won't be any gays in heaven or those people will find themselves in a different location. lol
  7. Thanks, Joanne, and I guess I've picked up a bit of the southern redneck from living in GA for the past several years. There aren't as many of them as I'd first expected, but the few I've met can more than make up for their lack in numbers.

    Chapter 1

For the past month or so, I've been dreaming that I've passed on to another plain of existence, never clearly understood if I died or was merely transported, but I was surrounded by people in my life or people I've admired from the arts, yet I could select what ages I wanted them to be, including myself, and then proceeded to carry on from there. Your story reminded me of that, so does it mean our dreams are somehow connected, even if only vaguely tangentially?

    Chapter 1

Wayne, I didn't realize you were into S & M. Very realistically done, although you didn't mention if they actually caught the dominatrix. I know they found her place and all of the toys, but you didn't mention if she was arrested or eventually tried. I certainly hope she wasn't able to slip away. Definitely an interesting read.

    Chapter 1

Mark, I wish you would have gone into the father issue more, since I'm curious as to why whom it was hard to believe or accept. Another issue I have is with the boyfriend. You make it sound as if he spends time with the boyfriend and his family, yet state that these things happen via the World Wide Web. I'm confused about that aspect, but I'm very touched by the depth of feelings and the position he's in.
  11. Thanks, Wayne. I'm glad you enjoyed it, even though I opted not to take the Deliverance route. Instead, I left the Good Ol' Boys something to think about.

    Chapter 1

Wow! As others have noted, a surprise ending. I expected problems between Gavin and his parents to arise, but eventually those problems would cause them to give in. I guess I was wrong. It's definitely a well written story, you did a lot of research into the subject and it was compelling. Great job!

  14. Sounds like my love life - all hype and an empty, disappointed feeling afterward.
  15. Happy Birthday, Charlie Brown... I mean Wayne. The little bald kid is getting old. lol Have a great one, just watch out for the crazy muppet.
  16. Happy Birthday Delaware. Are you possibly reconsidering the wisdom of getting mixed up with some of the other 49?
  17. Happy, happy, happy Birthday. i hope it's a great one!
  18. When the stories proclaiming the apocalypse the Mayans foretold would coincide with the winter solstice of 2012 first began to circulate, I wrote them off as hysterical nonsense. Anyone investigating the claim would soon realize the Mayans had several calendars that made up their Long Count calendar, and just like the calendar we use today, when one ends, the next one begins. Therefore, there was absolutely no reason to believe that when the current Long Count calendar came to an end that the
  19. Although many had been worried about the supposed Mayan prediction of an apocalypse, the feared date passed without incident. Suddenly, everyone began to feel safe again, but were they truly out of the woods now? This story could apply to any apocalyptic scenario This story is part of the 2012 Mayan Tribute Antholoty - End of the World.
  20. Devin Whitlock just got back from an 11-month tour of duty in Afghanistan and is leaving his base in Upstate NY to visit his parents, who live outside of Atlanta. Shortly after he enters GA his car breaks down and a pickup stops to help, but it’s not exactly the sort of help he needs. How will this turn out? This story is part of the 2012 Winter Anthology - Desperate Ends.
  21. Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood. (Coretta Scott King) I believe all Americans who believe in freedom, tolerance and human rights have a responsibility to oppose bigotry and prejudice based on sexual orientation. 22. Andy, as birthdays pass, so do crowns. This is mine now.
  23. Show and tell... I took a poo... lol
  24. Thank you, Gene, and I'm glad you enjoyed this series. When trying to figure out how to end this saga, my first thought was of Graham bringing everyone back together to show a unity. But then I just had to end it basically the same way the story began, with one of Ricky's devilish pranks. What was first shall also be last.
  25. I too have been trained in CPR and First Aid, but it's always good to have a reminder. Plus this is valuable information for those who haven't had the training. Thanks for sharing, Mike. Great idea.
