  1. “Yes, I told your doctor to have you call me,” Danny confirmed, “because I think I might have a solution for your problem.” “Did my doctor tell you that even though I need to give my baby up,” she continued, “I still want to be part of his life? I’ll only let someone adopt him if they agree to let me see him once in a while. I want him to know me, but I also want to be able to tell him about his father and explain why I had to give him up.” “Yes, your doctor made that very clear, and I hav

    New Challenges

I'm glad you enjoyed everything that happened in this chapter, especially the idea of the new baby. It appears that Danny and Brandon won't be the only ones to bring new residents into the Hotel.
  3. The next day, Danny received a phone call at home. His first thought was that it was from the contractor, but that wasn’t the case. This call was from one of the doctors he’d been talking to about opening a practice at the health center, once it came to fruition. This particular doctor was an obstetrician who had expressed a definite interest in opening an OBGYN office in the center. Danny was very interested in making this happen, because he felt having an obstetric practice in close proxim

    Easter Blessings

"Yes, Graham's 'insights' often have a powerful and dramatic impact. The medical center is moving forward and the tornadoes in GA were an actual occurrence that I chose to utilize in the story. Glad you're still enjoying this.
  5. Shortly before noon on Saturday, the O’Haras arrived to celebrate Easter with us. Since Patrick had realized he’d have to work all day Friday and didn’t want to travel tired, he’d booked a flight for early Saturday morning. Now, they arrived refreshed and ready to spend time with their son’s family. Danny, Brandon and Elliot were all overjoyed to see them again and greeted them warmly as they came through the door. Brandon also thanked his parents for making this trip, because he knew they
  6. William, I'm sorry if this turn in the storyline upset you. This was one of my earliest stories and I was posting on some other sites at the time, which required a certain amount of sex to hold the reader's interest. Most weren't coming just for the storyline, so I tried to hold their intest by sharing the sexual exploits with them too. In my later stories, the sexual contact is much less, because I've geared my material to writing for this site, not for those others.

    Making Plans

Flash, I'm glad you are excited about the medical center, but let's not make this a monster that gobbles up everything else. I think we can establish the medical center without delving into all the minor details. This isn't going to happen overnight, so sit back and enjoy the ride. Many other things are going to happen too.
  8. We were now into April and Easter was fast approaching. Danny, Brandon and Kevin were putting a great deal of thought, time and effort into exactly what they wanted to do with the school and bank buildings, as well as how much they felt they’d be able to offer. When Danny finally met with the superintendent and school board, he learned the district was indeed considering a consolidation proposal, but no formal decision had been made on it yet. However, they also confirmed that if the plan wer
  9. Flash, some of the family will get involved with helping out with this project, but not everyone. It will have benefits that go beyound employee family members or coming up with new residents for the Hotel, but there may be some of that too. I'm trying very hard to post a chapter a day, so I hope you're okay with that.
  10. On Saturday, Danny had a party for Brandon at the house. It wasn’t a huge gathering, since so many family members now lived in other parts of the state, or even the country. For this reason, most of them were no longer close enough to come back, except for major holidays. However, those who lived locally, which included our extended family, and a few of the people Brandon worked with, would be attending. The invitations Danny had delivered stated that no gifts were necessary, but their prese

    A Time of Love

I'm glad you enjoyed Elliot's desire to show his appreciation and the gift he gives, especially after he seen how the family tries to do so much for each other.
  12. Once we arrived at the restaurant, we were led back to the small, private dining room I had reserved. The six of us were dressed up in our best suits and ties and I thought we each looked very handsome and dapper, as we followed the maitre d’. After we were seated, each couple at a separate table within the room, we were given menus. Our drink order was then taken and we took a few minutes to peruse the menus and read the selections, including the specials. During this time, each of us deci
  13. You're welcome and I'm glad you don't tune out on me during the more mundane and less esciting moments of family life. I hope you enjoy the next chapter just as much.
  14. Danny and Dion came up to speak with me one evening, and I quickly learned they wanted to discuss their plans about Valentine’s Day. “Dad, Danny and I have been talking and we need your help. We can’t think of anyplace we can go dancing, after we take our sweethearts out to dinner, at least no place that we won’t standout in the crowd,” Dion told me. “Do you have any ideas?” “Not locally! Going to any establishments around here you’ll take the risk of being stared at or becoming the brun
  15. Thanks, Mike. I didn't want to rush things, since Danny and Brandon had so much to handle with their careers too, so I had Josh try to urge them to take this slowly. I think you might be surprised, and hopefully enjoy, some of the other things I've got planned, besides adding new characters.
  16. Unfortunately, the smaller the mind, the more tightly they try to enforce 'rules.'
  17. Thanks, Flash. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and you will see others, just maybe not right away.
  18. Now that the trial and sentencing were behind us, things began to settle down. It felt good not having that albatross still tied around our necks. A couple days after Elliot returned to school, his new friend, Hayden, talked him into accompanying him to the swim team practice, so he could introduce Elliot to the coach and some of his other teammates. Once Elliot got permission from his fathers, he told Hayden he’d love to do it. I heard Elliot acted shyly when he was first introduced to th

    The Sentencing

Thanks, CT. I'm glad you're enjoying the story and like the character. Can't wait for you to read more.

    The Sentencing

You don't normally plead leniency when your parent is killed. Btw, about your question yesterday about new characters - patience, grasshopper.
  21. The D.A. called the next day and informed us the sentences were to be announced the following Tuesday. He also told us Elliot would be allowed to speak at that time, if he wished. Danny and Brandon immediately began to make arrangements so they could take off work again and then notified the school that Elliot would be out that day as well. The wait in between was actually more difficult than it was while we were waiting for the trial to begin. It was even worse than waiting to see what hap

    The Trial

Flash, you forgot about the trial? Oh my. lol It will be an interesting time until this is finally cleared up. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. As far as Robert is concerned, he claims to be straight and is just focusing on his career. Could that change? We'll see. As far as the camping trip, that was actually based on something I'd done when I was in college. A summer vacation with a friend on Minnesota lakes. Hope you continue to enjoy this story.
  23. Shortly after Jesse and Elliot had returned to school, I received a phone call notifying us that the men who had killed Elliot’s father would soon be going on trial. The process would begin with jury selection during the second full week of January. It would take the lawyers a day or two to agree on prospective jurors, possibly longer, so the trial wouldn’t get started until that process had ended. Once the jury had been seated and any pretrial motions had been dealt with, then the actual tri

    Another New Year

Yes, Elliot has settled in, but there are still unresolved issues. As I suggested to Flash, some will soon come to light.
