  1. The only equivalent of the right-wing people mentioned, though usually not being as harshly nonsensical would be Michael Moore. So yes, maybe having a solid ideology broadcast may work. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't debunk the outright lies of these freaks who do have a strong influence over the policies of the US.
  2. Congratulations, and thanks for being around and helping out in so many different ways.
  3. Do we really need people spewing their hateful bile to know that the worst exists in this world? I remember spending a whole afternoon mesmerized by Bill O'Reilly and Anne Coulter after reading a post in the humor section. So yes, listening to loony extremists may be entertaining. As for Media Matters, they work as the free market. If this guy who spits on the freshly dead makes enough money, they won't give a hoot about whatever pressure group that comes and tells them to drop him. I keep being fascinated by the way your brain works, Nick...
  4. I'm celebrating the fact that today I got to zetaread the first chapter of Changing Lanes. So, good news for the Herd's faithful followers, isn't it?
  5. Happy Birthday Steve! They paid the bill, and went for a ride. "I'll bet I can make it to Jamba Juice before you," the model dared him. The bikes revved up, black billows of smoke rising in their wake..."
  6. Happy Birthday, James.
  7. Hi Peter. I pictured this type of villain, or even maybe a Freddie Krueger-like character. I'm not sure we should give more hideous ideas to the Goat, though.
  8. My main concern is that the author puts his characters in danger. Which seems an obsession with the authors on this site (at least here there are no firearms -- yet. If I'm not mistaken, this is February or March... In the Atlantic? So it's not flu we're talking about, but pneumonia!!!
  9. On the contrary, you provided the quote in his signature supporting his denial. And look how you get rewarded...
  10. I actually visited Tennessee. I went to Pulaski, which is a cute little town, but it popped into my memory for being the place where the KKK started, hence the easy pointing out.
  11. I've gotten a 150% raise at the end of FTL. I've managed to extort a 80% raise at chapter 10 of LTMP, and another 80% at chapter 37, but the cliff-hanger allowed me to put a really high pressure on the Goat. I hadn't thought yet of going into another bargaining session following His Cliffhanger Highness' various distinctions into royalty and such. But I'll drop in a word or two to my lawyer about this. He'll make the most of it. I'll keep you updated on the negotiation. Thanks a lot for bringing this to my attention, Steve.
  12. I think parades are always a bit over the top, whatever group sets them up. Benji's reference to Mardi Gras is quite apt, since to me such an event finds its roots into the old carnivals, those old (medieval?) events in which role reversal is enacted, and pretty much everything goes. The thing is that nowadays, putting up bits and pieces on film/ video doesn't quite do justice to the spirit of any festive event, in which participants are free to "let it go" for a while. With a properly edited video of the bars street in my city at closing time, I could start a campaign against drinking, for the behavior of some of the patrons is pathetic to say the least. Nevertheless, I think allowing outlets for excess is a need for a healthy society. Making sure this will yield minimum side-effects is the responsibility of the organizers of such events, but I don't want to live in 19th century Denmark (thinking of Babette's Feast, not meaning to hurt our Danish friends...)
  13. Congratulations!
  14. Oh, you were? So you've eventually recovered your sense of humor? (Bob, threatening Jack of the worst abuse has been a fixture from quite a while.. I guess I've go a fondness for VERY blue eyes...)
  15. I feel better too. The manor needs some roofing done, and these things don't come off cheap. 3,000 words? Perfect, keep this pace up, and I'll have some extra money for investment. I've got my eyes on a nice little company that owns a few sweatshops in Asia. Unless you've got enough skilled fellow-goats to staff a help desk for first-line support. I think animal abuse is underrated at the moment, and earning millions from speaking/bleating animals is the next fad thing to become/ remain a millionaire! In the meantime, please do toil as crazy, this is good for my offshore account. (And who knows? I could remodel the sun room in the manor too?)
  16. I don't want the Goat to lose his throne... But I do have some vested interests, don't I?
  17. That's where I think you're mistaken. Jack's sense of humor could easily appeal to conservative Christian Republicans. At least in the Poconos.
  18. Phew! I was afraid you had eventually gotten a (sick) sense of humor...

    F@#$'n Moving Again!

Call him tonight and ask him if he plans to pay your (outrageous) fee in check or cash.
  20. Well, well, the bleeding-heart liberals seem to prevail over here *sighs*.But what really matters to me is the number of zeroes on my Cayman Islands bank account, no matter what you softies think... So, CJames, you know what you gotta do!
  21. I thought you were your old prejudiced self... (See, old AND prejudiced in the same statement. That's quite a lesson in being unpleasant to your old semi-canuck enemy, isn't it? )
  22. Mississippi, Tennessee, North Korea, Syria and Iran are the destinations of choice for you guys...
