  1. Only a very unsensitive person, one able to inflict very evil cliffhangers upon his poor readers could reach such a high score. 76 here. I guess a number of 3s, due to the ubiquous phrasing of the questions, prevented me from getting a goat-like score.
  2. I hope you're not referring to me. I never take goats seriously, and fauns even less. Hence the generous use of smilies, to underline the non-seriousness. And CJ does need support to go on claiming he never uses CHs...
  3. Sowie sprach das Canuck Goat... Glad to see you around. If only it was not to badmouth the poor French me...
  4. Rejoicing over the absence of cliffies is premature. You should know by know that this must be the eye of the cyclone. I predict (and I do so without having seen Cliff 14) that the next few chapters will be filled with torturous cliffhangers. This is CJ we're dealing with, people!
  5. Veruca Salt is definitely not a good role model. No one wants to be rejected as a bad nut, especially by squirrels. Watch out, this history instructor could be a rodent from what you say.
  6. I would add to Mike's batrachian seal of cliff-hangerlessness by saying I made the same comment. But this (and the bleating of goats...) means the next chapters will certainly be filled with cliffies. Oh, and by the way, an insider revelation (I checked with my lawyer, but nothing in the contract prevents me of unveiling this important fact): the files we get for beta/proof/zeta reading are named "Cliff". The action is nicely done in this chapter. Another bossy woman. Lie down on my couch, CJ, and tell me about the issues you have with female representatives of authority. Give my best to your mom. By the way, she made me think of Jones, in XIII (a famous comics series, soon a series on TV...) The look might be wrong, but this girl kicks butt, and saves XII, aka Jason's life quite a few times.
  7. I read only one de Lillo novel, Libra ,some fifteen years ago, and remember enjoying it. I was glad I was given The Road as a birthday gift, and I didn't know anything about it. But even if you've heard the basics about this book, it's all revealed within the first three pages, so you may enjoy anyway. Thanks for the input, Kerv.
  8. I won't comment on how FTL allowed me to fit the three bathrooms of my yacht with gold faucets and marble sinks, but I think was a great ride, and you shouldn't look on it as a "newbie" work. The freshness and the general attitude towards popular fiction in it is something to be nurtured in future works. This might be the true Goat voice and tone.
  9. Here is part of the opinion I gave the Goat sending back chapter 12. I'll spare you the business details about Mr X., the middleman in the financial bargains. I think this was a bit early for such a judgment, but it seemed to me that it took a long time for the plot to actually take off. This impression could be caused by reading episodes that have come in after long waits this time.
  10. I've read a few best-sellers since (due to long train trips), but has anyone read the haunting The Road by Cormac Mc Carthy? This is great writing, and a real page turner, though it feeds on very little. A book that stays with you a long time after you put it down.
  11. CJames is a California fan. He's said it enough times. His antics of chasing Shadowgod reveal his love for SoCal.
  12. Envisioning a horny goat on tequila trying to make out with passers-by just makes me shudder.

    5 questions...

Poetry doesn't need to bring emotions in you. Lyric poetry does. If you're moved by poetry, then it's a good thing, but I've been moved by people reading non-poetry stuff (Tim Miller pops right into my mind). As for your last question, the answer is: because the world is this way and no other.
  14. Well, as long as you don't spell it "champagne", then there's no issue. And I'm not sure the California vineyards do not produce quality sparkling wine, since they manage quite well in the wine area in general. As for other liquor, I thought whisky came from Scotland anyway.
  15. Can one enter the contest even when having had the sneak peek? And then, is there a cash reward?
  16. Eric is a promiscuous alcoholic breeder looking for a thrill. We should all condemn his sinful actions and hope he won't jeopardize the pure and beautiful relationship Brandon and Chase have.
  17. If not for a Goddess' cake, here is one...
  18. Is the grapevine right? The rumor I heard is that chapter 10 would be released for Thanksgiving (the American one). So brace yourselves for a long wait. The other rumor is that Shadowgod retains the said chapter. So, truth or lies?
  19. It all goes to show you... Do take Canada over and enslave Canadians, my U.S. friends! (I'd bet the Frosty One would look good in a French maid outfit)
  20. (I got the guy in the bakery fired for putting a 7 instead of a 2... And the character was supposed to be a musician. We'll get it right next year.)
  21. A very sad day for mankind indeed.
  22. Thanks to Shadowgod's edits, the Scar is back. I hope this time he's learned a lesson and will ensure proper methods and procedures are in place to actually manage to destroy the Earth. And provide lots of tequila to Eric. Long Live the Scar!
  23. Thanks a lot Sphen. We needed some thorough viewing and analysis. Glad some people still go on the quest for truth.
  24. And many happy returns to you, Sir!
  25. I think he was in Alaska making big deals with all the super-evil-secret powers of finance. Or maybe some place else (didn't we lose track of him as he actually approached the Canadian border?) where he could conspire with his goons?
