  1. And let's not forget Harry Truman, who sent a bomb over the Japanese a few years later. And I wouldn't be surprised if those who assaulted Arab Americans after 9/11 were led by the Democratic Party and one of its evil ploys... They canceled the Simpsons? And American Dad? Man, no sarcasm this time, this is pure evil.
  2. What on earth does this have to do with this topic? Methinks people in the southwestern quarter of the USA have lost their mind. I never traveled farther west than Lawrence, Kansas, and I guess I was right not to venture into these strange territories..
  3. My grandma used to say: "Never discuss chocolates or soaps with girls back from a shopping spree or you might lose friends and get bruised pretty badly." So, no arguing over Lindt. The marriage thing still puzzles me, as my sister (thankfully) never saw her green card resigned because she didn't have kids. So why should guys be prevented from this way of making a citizen? Decades to come will certainly see some change.
  4. How can you possibly link CBoats and CJ? I mean, none of these names appear on the name of the account used to transfer my fees on my Cayman Islands account. We need more information.
  5. I do agree with you on this one. An injury to one is an injury to all.

    Good People

No plot on the Original Royal Caprine Quadrupede? Well, maybe you Steves would rather go for raunchy innuendos rather than unveil your anti-Arizonian schemes...

    Good People

Did you discuss the cock, the goat, or link the two concepts with a genitive? I'm wondering about a plot concerning CJ, though.
  8. Because he appealed to the anti-abortion, anti-gay vote from religious America, and had gotten his country into war. Sorry, but I really have a hard time with anyone trying to tell us the democrats are going to disappoint gay people and try to defend some elected official leading a prayer group before going to war.
  9. I thought about this too at first, but I don't think Instinct or anyone beside his accomplices knew of the nick name in LTMP. Hence the even more devious encounter. How is The Scar going to survive an earthquake and a volcano/ landslide, and a bunch of angry mercenaries this time? I think by now everyone has identified CJ's true hero. Brandon is out of the picture, Eric indulges in earthly, futile pleasures, General Bradson is easily tricked and deceived, not to mention bossed around...
  10. Too late for a cake, but not for bowing to the amazing Goddess of editing.
  11. Nice Hieronymus Bosch-style art. And, man, Jovian, you're much more knowledgeable than I am. I won't tell you my score, yours is WAY better!
  12. Happy Birthday, E.!
  13. Thanks for such an insightful report, Steve. If anybody needed any more evidence, I guess you provided it.
  14. I hope you're not referring to me. I never take goats seriously, and fauns even less. Hence the generous use of smilies, to underline the non-seriousness. And CJ does need support to go on claiming he never uses CHs...
  15. Sowie sprach das Canuck Goat... Glad to see you around. If only it was not to badmouth the poor French me...
  16. Rejoicing over the absence of cliffies is premature. You should know by know that this must be the eye of the cyclone. I predict (and I do so without having seen Cliff 14) that the next few chapters will be filled with torturous cliffhangers. This is CJ we're dealing with, people!
  17. Veruca Salt is definitely not a good role model. No one wants to be rejected as a bad nut, especially by squirrels. Watch out, this history instructor could be a rodent from what you say.
  18. I would add to Mike's batrachian seal of cliff-hangerlessness by saying I made the same comment. But this (and the bleating of goats...) means the next chapters will certainly be filled with cliffies. Oh, and by the way, an insider revelation (I checked with my lawyer, but nothing in the contract prevents me of unveiling this important fact): the files we get for beta/proof/zeta reading are named "Cliff". The action is nicely done in this chapter. Another bossy woman. Lie down on my couch, CJ, and tell me about the issues you have with female representatives of authority. Give my best to your mom. By the way, she made me think of Jones, in XIII (a famous comics series, soon a series on TV...) The look might be wrong, but this girl kicks butt, and saves XII, aka Jason's life quite a few times.
  19. I read only one de Lillo novel, Libra ,some fifteen years ago, and remember enjoying it. I was glad I was given The Road as a birthday gift, and I didn't know anything about it. But even if you've heard the basics about this book, it's all revealed within the first three pages, so you may enjoy anyway. Thanks for the input, Kerv.
  20. I won't comment on how FTL allowed me to fit the three bathrooms of my yacht with gold faucets and marble sinks, but I think was a great ride, and you shouldn't look on it as a "newbie" work. The freshness and the general attitude towards popular fiction in it is something to be nurtured in future works. This might be the true Goat voice and tone.
  21. Here is part of the opinion I gave the Goat sending back chapter 12. I'll spare you the business details about Mr X., the middleman in the financial bargains. I think this was a bit early for such a judgment, but it seemed to me that it took a long time for the plot to actually take off. This impression could be caused by reading episodes that have come in after long waits this time.
  22. I've read a few best-sellers since (due to long train trips), but has anyone read the haunting The Road by Cormac Mc Carthy? This is great writing, and a real page turner, though it feeds on very little. A book that stays with you a long time after you put it down.
  23. CJames is a California fan. He's said it enough times. His antics of chasing Shadowgod reveal his love for SoCal.
  24. Envisioning a horny goat on tequila trying to make out with passers-by just makes me shudder.

    5 questions...

Poetry doesn't need to bring emotions in you. Lyric poetry does. If you're moved by poetry, then it's a good thing, but I've been moved by people reading non-poetry stuff (Tim Miller pops right into my mind). As for your last question, the answer is: because the world is this way and no other.
