  1. Yes, in October. It's nice, because then you aren't eating two big turkey dinners in the span of a month. Menzo (who misses Canada sometimes)
  2. Congratulations! Menzo *points to congratulations thread*
  3. That's a clever trick, Beastkid, triple posting to up your count
  4. That's the only movie I've watched in the past four months, and it was excellent. He really is more than just a pretty face; it was a very good movie with very good acting. Menzo
  5. Congratulations, Beastkid, for creating this thread. Have a pat on the back.
  6. But its not an intentional thing. I am usually sincere, I just forget... And I;m also not sleeping with these people:P Menzo
  7. Sometimes people don't necessarily want to talk to you at that moment; it doesn't mean they don't care about you. If you talk to this person all the time, maybe she was distracted, or didn't really have anything to say to you. There are tons of times when my best friends are online and we don't talk, simply because there's nothing new to say to one another. You yourself said everything has been going well, so I really wouldn't worry about one little incident. Menzo
  8. Yeah, it always amuses me to hear Americans complain about gas. It's cheaper than just about anywhere else in the developed Western world. Try buying gas in the EU or UK and see how you like it. Even Canadians don't have it too bad.
  9. If I actually had lunch with all the people to whom I've said 'Lets have lunch' I would be very fat and very poor. Lunches with me tend to involve places I can't afford... I could probably make a get-together in the UK but I make no promises. Life is busy, and to be quite honest, I've never been partial to large gatherings of people I only know from avatars online. Menzo
  10. I don't see why GM shouldn't produce vehicles that will increase its profits. If there is a market out there for big-ass SUVs, then it makes sense for them to exploit it. Of course if it turns out that there isn't a market, and Americans do want 'tiny little vehicles' then they will presumably adjust accordingly. There are people and families who simply can't survive with just one sedan, and somebody has to produce the cars they buy. Menzo
  11. Happy birthday Sharon!!!
  12. Eternal beauty would be lovely. I've delayed responding to this thread because I'm honestly not sure. It would certainly not be my childhood, and I doubt it would be retirement, but I'm not sure at what age I will be the happiest. I'm a career-oriented person, so it would have to be a point where I was in a job I loved, but on the other hand, there are joys of youth I don't particularly want to give up. So, most likely 21-30 is the demographic I'd most enjoy, and the one I'll soon be entering. Menzo
  13. I can't say that dreading waking up every morning because you know that each and everyone of your peers will go out of their way to make your life miserable, is really something that 'prepares you' for adulthood. It makes you hate people and it makes you so bitter that no one wants to cry on your shoulder. I won't disagree that being gay makes you different, and I quite honestly would never change that if I could, but I can't say that going through shit as a kid has made me a better person. Stronger, possibly, and more mature, certainly, but it also leaves you with a lot of demons, and a lot of issues. Menzo
  14. Honey, if you thought those lashes were natural... Menzo (who admits nobody ever mistakes me for a straight guy)
  15. Here's a little something I always thought was amusing: The Philosopher's Drinking SongThe Philosopher's Drinking Song Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely stable. Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table. David Hume could out consume Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as sloshed as Schlegel. There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya 'bout the raisin' of the wrist. Socrates himself was permanently pissed. John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, after half a pint of shandy was particularly ill. Plato, they say, could stick it away, 'alf a crate of whiskey every day! Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle, and Hobbes was fond of his Dram. And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart: "I drink, therefore I am." Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed; A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed. -- Monty Python And I must say, I disagree with feuxdemoncoeur. I don't think there is any difference in the facial structure of gay and straight guys, and I definitely think that (percentage wise) there are far more attractive gay guys than straight ones. Menzo
  16. No? Well since I'm always right, you out to be Locke-d up. Or perhaps I'll just PUNish you and watch you Hobbes-le around in agony. Menzo (who wished German names were easier to make puns put of. Wittgenstein just doesn't lend itself to good wit )
  17. Haha, I actually noticed your age right after I posted that. It came off snippy, and it was meant to, but I was just trying to humorously make a point. Menzo
  18. He contributed to logic and philosophy of mind, I think. The Turing test is fairly significant to deciding when a computer can actually think. Menzo (who thinks, and therefore is)
  19. The very finest ~'That menzo person' PS Let's all now try to validate our intellects by needlessly dropping the names of philosophers we learned about in our undergrad degrees.
  20. Being gay means no more, and no less, than being straight means to a straight person. I won't deny that it changes my perspective somewhat, but it's not like it sets me apart from the rest of the world. Menzo
  21. Graeme. While he may not be as post-whorish as some (*cough*), he manages to post an incredible amount of things, while posting (mostly) worthwhile things. Kevin would have been next on my list, I think. Menzo
  22. When your freedom impinges on my freedom, then I have a problem. They can sit in Kansas spouting off religious bromide 'till the cows come home for all I care, but when they start protesting people's funerals, then a line needs to be drawn. Menzo (who loves America)
  23. Fideism is a very interesting topic. William James gives an interesting justification of fideism, but that is off topic. Proving/disproving that homosexuality is genetically linked really makes no difference, because whether or not you logically win an argument is irrelevant to the intellectual canaille who either cannot comprehend why their beliefs fail logically or simply don't care. I doubt very much that any proof of genetically caused homosexuality will sway many people towards acceptance, and in that respect it is rather futile; I'm not particularly concerned with with whether I'm a genetic anomaly or a morally reprehensible anti-Christ. Still, I think the research is worthwhile simply because it would be interesting to know with certainty. I've long since come to the conclusion that it is much easier to just ignore religious bigots and go on with my day, confident in my moral and intellectual superiority. Menzo
  24. Finding British/Australian lemonade in North America is a difficult task. When I lived in Boston, I wanted to make mulled wine and the recipe I had called for lemonade. I had to move heaven and earth to find it, even in Boston. Menzo
