Jonghyun - Diphylleia grayi (skeleton flower) Happy birthday and happy Jonghyun day. Will miss you forever. For those who don’t know Jonghyun was one of the first kpop idols to be very open in his support of LGBT and trans people in Korea, without caring about the backlash he might get from general public (he openly supported a trans fan of his)

Parents forcing sex change on children as young as 1
pitchan replied to pitchan's topic in The Lounge
It's the Asian mindset in a way. The burning need for a son. I hate that mindset but its there. Thank god my family doesn't believe in all that stupidity (we are also a family of girls in the majority. I have only 1 male cousin out of at least 10 xD). The following is something my friend linked me to after seeing my post. It's cases that have occurred and the result (why changing gender of young children does not work). http://healthland.ti...tists-humility/ -
My country fails a lot of the times. Like seriously. We have parents killing foetesus of young girls (which is why determining sex of child in India is a very difficult thing to do. They don't want parents to opt for abortion) hoping for male child , and now I hear this. I AM RAGING SO MUCH RIGHT NOW. One mother even says (of girl child she forced sex change on): 'My son will grow up comfortable with his gender because he wont remember the sex change operation.'. LIKE REALLY. http://www.hindustan...int/713863.aspx Keep in mind that its usually girls who are forced to become boys, and extremely rare the other way round.

Not sure. People wore stuff with lots of frill though, at that time in history I think. xD Glad you liked it AND OMG. IS that a Menage a 3 avatar I see there!!!

I'm not sure why I joined this site. Probably because I just wanted to randomly comment on the threads on the forums of some of my favourite authors here Actually, I'm also into the slash/gay stories scene elsewhere where most of the authors are female. It's nice to come to a place where you can come across stories mostly written by males. It's a bit uncomfortable to read that a lot of gay people seem to think that straight people are the 'enemy', so might as well let people know there are straight people who fully support you and are gay-friendly.

I hope this is the correct forum to post this in...; People were linking youtube videos on chat earlier today, and I think this one is appropriate for GA. xD It's a song by someone called Cosmo Jarvis. It's about gay pirates. It's very catchy xD

I tried using my Android for chat. Chat loaded, and I could see everyone chatting, but I myself couldn't post anything. I have yet to try posting anything through phone, but I think it might work. Forum loads on phone if nothing else.

What happens in the meetup? I live in London at the moment and am just curious. How come it seems to span a few days? Not a general meet and greet?

Wow. I'd just posted an answer to this type of question elsewhere and I find it here as well. In my mind my parents found out the worst way possible. A couple of years ago (around 2007) I was really (and still am kinda) into fanfiction slash and yaoi. We only had one comp in our house and I didn't want to password lock in case I raised suspicion. So I had loads of music folders and hid my yaoi and saved fanfics in them (with lots of folders within folders). During summer vacation I'd gone to the other side of the country to visit my grandparents in my hometown. I get a call a week into my visit with my mother freaking out over whatever slashy stuff my parents had found in the comp after snooping through my files (keep in mind I was like 20 by then). I raged over breach of privacy. Got majorly lectured when I came home. They were and still are disgusted by it. Told me I couldn't do such things while living under their roof. They had also completely reformatted the PC. So I lost a lot of non-slashy stuff like music as well. To this day I dunno what exactly they'd found. my slashy fanfic or the yaoi (that a whole other thing. They despise that I love anime and they hate Japanese stuff). Dad forbid me to read online stories. Though recently he found my folder of saved fics and he just gave me a look and never mentioned it again. They totally still disapprove though. xD

Title: In the Company of Shadows/Evenfall Author: Sonny & Ais Status: WIP Rating: M Link: Sonny & Ais AFF page, ICOS Website Summary: A series about two people who are thrown together as partners in a secret agency; their mission is to disband rebels who have propagated in a post-war future, but they have to deal with everything that comes with an unlikely partnership as well. Miscommunication, periods of distance, fleeting smiles and learning to trust someone when a person can't even trust himself, these are what they struggle with while still trying to do their jobs. One is a psychopath, called a murderer and monster and generally deemed subhuman by nearly everyone who knows of him; the other is an introvert, cold and emotionless and so lost in thoughts that he would agree that he can be called a monster of inhumanity. But what makes a person human; is it humanity, compassion, or is it simply the ability to reason? Can a monster be human, and general humanity breed monsters? While they learn about each other, they learn about themselves; where their loyalty and morality lies, and how learning to trust another person can be incredibly difficult, bittersweet, and rewarding all at the same time. Join Hsin Liu Vega (aka "Sin") and Boyd Beaulieu as they struggle to find where they fit in a world slowly recovering from war. (Not my own summary, taken from here, a slash fic rec site) This story is brilliant. There are no words whatsoever that I can say to convey how absolutely outstanding this whole saga is. The world in In The Company of Shadows is entirely different from the world which we live in. In that universe, the cold war never ended and unlike in the real world (where we managed to escape the various brushes with WWIII), the characters in this world were not so lucky. They suffered through nuclear war and survived. Book One: Evenfall, Book Two: After Image, and the Interludes (need to read to understand Book 3) are posted. Book Three: Fade is on the works, and Book Four is planned. After reading these three, check out Sonny's side fic After Midnight. Summary: In a post-apocalyptic future, Gordon Frost can't get a break. He lives on the fringes of society, doing what usually illegal things he can do to get by. But taking life one day at a time takes on a whole new meaning when he meets a deadly stranger. It has a lot of promise. Lots of nods to the main story ICOS storyline. I find a strange thrill finding random connections to main story. Plus I am liking main character Gordon, a flawed individual. Not all protagonist need be perfect. Am (im)patiently waiting for updates After Midnight FP, After Midnight AFF

Weird song but I love it. I love it when they play it during the action scenes as well. The Major kicks major ass

Scribe is putting up 'Child of the Night' for publishing. So we should be able to get a hard copy in maybe a year's time. The publishing company want her to do a trilogy on it... Update on Scribe's LJ (Blog)

Lol. I still like the old seasons but the new ones aren't interesting enough. I have played almost all Pokemon games and am currently playing Platinum. I don't know if I want to play SoulSilver or HeartGold though. I saw the art (and the opening movie) and...I didn't really like what I've seen so far. Let's see though. Might end up playing. There is already a nextGen coming up...Pokemon Black and White or something

Hmm. I was just talking to my friend about preferences earlier today. How one person's preference is diffirent from another. Some people prefer masculine men, other prefer the pretty or short types etc etc. This whole discussion on who prefers what roles reminds me of that. We also talked about what roles we would like the characters we are reading about to be xDDD

Sonoma County CA separates elderly gay couple and sells their home

Hmm. Now that I think about it, I also googled it but nothing else turned up. Now am not sure if it's true or not, but I just thought I'd post it anyways. -
Sonoma County CA separates elderly gay couple and sells their home
pitchan replied to pitchan's topic in The Lounge
Ah. I repaired the link to the 'source'. I'm pretty sure this is real, but then again...can't be 100% sure. -
Clay and his partner of 20 years, Harold, lived in California. Clay and Harold made diligent efforts to protect their legal rights, and had their legal paperwork in place--wills, powers of attorney, and medical directives, all naming each other. Harold was 88 years old and in frail medical condition, but still living at home with Clay, 77, who was in good health. One evening, Harold fell down the front steps of their home and was taken to the hospital. Based on their medical directives alone, Clay should have been consulted in Harold's care from the first moment. Tragically, county and health care workers instead refused to allow Clay to see Harold in the hospital. The county then ultimately went one step further by isolating the couple from each other, placing the men in separate nursing homes. Ignoring Clay's significant role in Harold's life, the county continued to treat Harold like he had no family and went to court seeking the power to make financial decisions on his behalf. Outrageously, the county represented to the judge that Clay was merely Harold's "roommate." The court denied their efforts, but did grant the county limited access to one of Harold's bank accounts to pay for his care. What happened next is even more chilling. Without authority, without determining the value of Clay and Harold's possessions accumulated over the course of their 20 years together or making any effort to determine which items belonged to whom, the county took everything Harold and Clay owned and auctioned off all of their belongings. Adding further insult to grave injury, the county removed Clay from his home and confined him to a nursing home against his will. The county workers then terminated Clay and Harold's lease and surrendered the home they had shared for many years to the landlord. Three months after he was hospitalized, Harold died in the nursing home. Because of the county's actions, Clay missed the final months he should have had with his partner of 20 years. Compounding this tragedy, Clay has literally nothing left of the home he had shared with Harold or the life he was living up until the day that Harold fell, because he has been unable to recover any of his property. The only memento Clay has is a photo album that Harold painstakingly put together for Clay during the last three months of his life. With the help of a dedicated and persistent court-appointed attorney, Anne Dennis of Santa Rosa, Clay was finally released from the nursing home. Ms. Dennis, along with Stephen O'Neill and Margaret Flynn of Tarkington, O'Neill, Barrack & Chong, now represent Clay in a lawsuit against the county, the auction company, and the nursing home, with technical assistance from NCLR. A trial date has been set for July 16, 2010 in the Superior Court for the County of Sonoma. Read more about NCLR's Elder Law Project. Are you disturbed by the story of how Clay Greene was treated by the County? Please post this, pass it on, do whatever you can to help raise the visibility of what happened to Clay. Also, please write a letter to the local paper, the Press Democrat (owned by The New York Times) asking them to do some investigative reporting on the Greene v. County of Sonoma case. So far they have ignored the story. Send a letter to the editor at letters@pressdemocrat.com. Include the story and a link to this post. Source Someone posted this petition to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat asking them to publish the story. Meet Harold and Clay
