Joe had a few beers in him and that made him feel loose (Trend here, CJ + tequila and Shadowyness + beer) but I can't help in thinking that Joe and Cody are not going to get together, at least not yet this early in the story. Joe wants to help Cody and Cody needs all the help he can get.
