  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANCOIS!!!!
  4. Hey Jonathan! Welcome to GA!!!! Don't worry. You'll get to find someone who is around your age here. LOL, hmmm.... what is there to do? Let's see. You can participate in the forums or simply sit back and relax to a story by one of GA authors. It's really up to ya Once again, welcome to GA!!!
  5. Has anyone read Jose Saramago's, Noble prize winner, book called 'Blindness'? If you haven't, I encourage you to read it before you watch the movie that is coming out this september 2008. From the reviews garnered, the reception of the movie at the Cannes International Festival was terrible. Screen International's Cannes screen jury gave the film a 1.3 average out of 4, while some other critics gave the film 0/4. Wow... that's kinda harsh. I loved the book. Although I read it a couple of years ago, the message and themes from the book still resonate with me. As for the movie, I can't tell till I've seen it, but given the poor reviews, I encourage everyone to read Jose Saramango's book before the movie hits the big screen worldwide. You can watch the trailers here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHblGp5ihbo (HQ Trailer 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDwsQTjsPdE (HQ Trailer 2)
  6. That's awesome!!! I remember I played Sebestian in "Twelfth night" in theatre school, haha, and that didn't turn out too well because 'Viola' kept messing up her lines hahah . My current module does not cover on Comedy of Errors but my teacher has encouraged us to read it. Which character did you play? hehehe. If I can recall what I read, this story has something to do with twins?
  7. Cool I love Macbeth too Even though Macbeth is catergorized as a Shakespearean tragedy, it is also an optimistic play. One of the major themes of this play would be 'retribution and punishment'. No sin or wrongdoing goes unpunished, and Macbeth receives a double dosage of his own medication.
  8. Nothing to celebrate about, but anyways... Here's my 100th Post!!!! hehehehehehehehe Will continue to post more hahaha
  9. Happy Birthday!!!!! Omg, we're the same age! hehehehe
  10. Shakespearean plays have influenced our language, writing, and society (believe it or not)! Here's a thread for those who enjoy his works and would like to discuss about them. I'm currently studying Renaissance Comedy (Shakespeare and Jonson) for my first year B.A in English haha. My teacher told my class to to come up with a report or survey of some sort next month, but she hasn't told us what plays we'd be doing the report/survey on. Hmmm... I'll get the information asap.
  11. OMG! ME TOO! I've told my parents, repeatedly, that I want to take equestrianism up as a sport, but they refuse... partly because of my medical condition. But just like you, I really wanna own a horse hahaha
  12. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, I can't help but I like those countries too hehehe; ultimately, I wish Australia would get as many gold medals as possible!!!! Woo- hoo! hehehe. Go Aussieland!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Omg, I feel terribly sorry for that family Gah, Peta just gets on my nerves. Admittedly, I do agree with some of their causes, but they are not advocating the right way. Instead, it aggravates a LOT of people. They act on emotions rather than logic. If they want to be vegetarians, let them be. They've taken their advocation to a new loathsome level. They should think about the victim's family and the ordeal they're going through before acting on their really inane emotions. What even disgusts me is the fact that they're exploiting the tragic incident that happened by putting up an advertising campaign. Are they animals? Come to think about it... ARE they? I could rant all I want about their treatment towards 'mankind', but I'll stop here. I've kept the family in my prayers. Hopefully they wouldn't be distracted by this abhorrent ad. Sorry for ranting about this, but *pulls my hair out* Peta members need to stop bagging humanity and take a good hard look at themselves. I know there are some good PETA members out there; nevertheless, there are a good number of them who seriously need some re-wiring in their heads.
  14. LOL. I don't agree with China's communist government. I think everyone should have human rights. Yeah, it's hard to avoid politics, but I think it's best if we focus on the Olympic games rather than the Chinese government, because ultimately it's the games that matters in the Olympics. I got to hand it to the people in China, they did a really good job in the opening ceremony. Haha, eventhough the team is "corny", it's still what I really hope the world would achieve someday: One World, One Dream. I'd be rooting for Team Taipei (where my dad came from hehe), Team Japan (where my mother came from hahahaha), Team USA, Team Hong Kong, and Team Aussieland!!! hehe
  15. lol, let's try to avoid politics in here
  16. Is anyone watching the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony LIVE on tv now? I love it! I love the theme: One world, One dream!!! Swwwweeeeettttt!!! I love how the various countries that are competing in the Olympics walk into the birdnest stadium with their heads held high. Sweeeet!!!
  17. haha, i'm currently struggling a little with Geoffrey Chaucer's 'The Canterbury Tales' for my Literature exam next month haha. It's good read though hehe
  18. My passion for music, hehe: .... and of course, my hat!!!!! Oh and if you're wondering why my hair is short - I had a gum stuck on my fringe yesterday ... I know, silly me lol. I had to trim my fringe (and I didn't know how to cut my own hair!!).
  19. Awwww you're not old!!! And yeah I've heard about the incident with SAS. Thankfully everyone was all right, but that was three years ago wasn't it? hehe. Coooolies, class afloat seems awesome! *Cheers you on* Hopefully you'll get to be a teacher on that ship one day!!! Cheers!!! Jovian
  20. LOL Ewwww, I don't really like those kind of dates hehe LOL
  21. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww, if possible, I wanna be a teacher on that ship! Teaching while having nausea LOL, nah, that wouldn't happen. You know, the funny thing is... I'm afraid of deep water, yet I love being on a cruise liner. HAHAHA YAY!!! We could be roomies! Hehehehe Hmmm... which bed? Left or right? Hahahaha, I'm not interested in the navy. Haha! I wanna have a personal, awesome experience at sea, not one that is under obligation. LOL.
  22. Have you all heard about a study program called "Semester at Sea"? I just read about it recently and gosh, I really wanna be part of it!!! LOL. You get to spend 100 days at sea while you study for your college credits. Classes are held on board a cruise liner! How cool is that? In addition, you get to travel to 10 or 12 countries. I've looked at their itineraries for the places they'd be visiting or had visited and I'm surprised to know that one of the places they're visiting - Kobe, Japan - is where my grandmother was born in!!! HAHAHA I'm currently studying for my B.A in English, Music, Education, and Performance Studies. Hopefully those subjects that I'm studying will get me in, lol just kidding!!! I wanna be a lecturer in that ship if I can hahahaha. (I know, pie in the sky dream) Hehehehe Nah, I'm just expecting too much, but you have to admit, this is pretty darn cool!!! Cheers!!!! Jovian P.S - You don't have to post a reply, lol. I'm just sugar-high, I think. It's just my dream to try something different lol. Studying on a ship sounds really really really neat to me!!!
  23. Haha, I count my calories LOL.Still, it sounds like a wonderful dish Cant wait to try it out later hehehe
