Wow-Greg is beaten , tied up, immobilized and sadistically tortured for hours. They want to know about Danny, Greg does not tell then anything. How did he survive? He needs hospital care for his terrible injuries. He hears snippets of information, He think someone sounds familiar but he cannot remember who. I hope he gets care. How will his son and father cope without him? He cannot support them while injured. Who is behind his attack and torture? Will they go after him again?

The duke is named regent and put his men in power and took hostages. He is merciless. Gustave and Fran are held by the Doke. Ed is helping Edith prepare her forces and is training new recruits, Much is up in the air and much is not known, Edith is not in a good place but she has faith and charisma. They plan to attack and want to get a foothold by capturing the duke's home city. Fran and Lothar meet and note the wide unrest in the city and the fires outside. Fran announces it is time to kill Gustave. They need to blame his death on the protestors, I assume. But, this is a very risky move. The duke might see through this ploy. Next up--violence, confusion and lots of blood spilled. It should be fascinating.

If Caleb can be involved in helping repair and make normal the hybrids, I bet he will have the best therapy to cure his guilt and depression--Just saying it is one welcomed possibility.

So when Asa checked out Caleb was he acting as a type of mass spectrometer and MRI and probaby can analyze anomalies in Caleb ? I hope he can repair and restore Caleb. His physical state needs improvement from the poisoning. 'He will still need counseling to smooth out the negative way he has been thinking and help working on the guilt feelings he taught himself. Perhaps when the pack alpha learns of Asa's shifter skills , he might see a possibility for Asa to help the hybrid pups ?

I like drpaladin's opinion about the poison and the effect on Caleb. I can see the poison that helped him feel depressed and pulled the wrong way had to be administered a while ago. "It was pretty much as I figured. They entrapped him. With all those chemists and biologist they had, it's not too surprising they'd have a shifter poison; probably one they plan to use in this future attack." Let us hope Asa can come up with a solution. Maybe he can burn out any foreign matter or poison in his brain and body.

Three big reveals-- Asa told Caleb was a light shifter and showed him what his ability is. He is now willing to tell the pack alpha later. Caleb told Asa about his dark secret and why he wanted to live to punish himself. Death would be the easy way out. Asa and Caleb kissed and Asa learned Caleb has been poisoned! His light shifter abilities must have detected Caleb's injury. I hope he can repair Caleb.

What a consequential chapter with turning points and highs and lows of emotion. At the end after being very gracious and even tempered in his interactions, George was uncommonly destabilized in private by terrible news. He was very human after all. Two family matters are no longer bothering George. Granger found a way to reconnect with his father and to let them find common ground. They shared views of Caroline's actions. She disappointed his parents and George with her daily hateful letters which they do not answer. A former person with very agile political skills is misreading George and failing in winning support outside of her limited circle. George has worked out a financial offer less than she wants with his attorney in preparation for a likely lawsuit . George and his father think he is likely to prevail. She no longer concerns George. Earl St Vincent made a surprise visit to Brentwood and reconciled with him. He fully apologized to Brentwood-as he now called-for doubting him. George was gracious and accepted his apology and invited him to share a meal with him and his parents. There was no talk of a possible future command for Brentwood. Walking in the gardens Earl St Vincent told him of a naval battle where Lt Gatling was killed and Francis Calvert was wounded and gave up his command. George was told is more news about Calvert becomes available, then he will be informed. Perhaps his grandfather might pass along information in one of his letters from Antigua? He knows Geoge and Calvert are good friends. George returned to his gardens when St Vincent left. He realized Calvert held the strongest place in his heart of his past lovers and was crushed and very uneasy by not knowing his actual condition. George broke into a serious crying fit. At the end, Winkler comforted George when he saw how distraught he was." Winkler showed Granger that, no matter what happened, he was not alone."

Stef said the shares held in Buck Industries are worthless. So, Travis's siblings have taken a huge financial loss, too. Are they in financial distress now? Curtis might blame Travis and turn his siblings against him. What will they do?

Stef once again showed how wise he is and what a great counselor he can be. He helped Will think through his relationship with Travis. Will is remarkably self-aware and Travis complements him -- “We both watch out for each other. I think this is probably my first important relationship where I felt I wasn’t putting in all the effort,” I said. Now, Stef is helping Travis think through his financial opportunities and future He laid out some simple clear options. A key choice is how close does he want to be with his company. He will think about it. He might learn management skills, invest in it or not get involved. He feels responsible right now, but needs time to make a decision not based on emotion. Stef's team will help Travis if he wants to be involved. If Travis is not interested, Stef's firm will sell the assets. I am very glad everyone is safe without Curtis lashing out. BTW--California in the future will become increasingly hostile to oil companies and drilling. It once held the headquarters of 5 of the top US oil companies, The headquarters have all fled the state. Travis would be wise to not keep his assets in CA oil. We will see if he makes the right choice.

Finally--Rusty and Matty profess they love each other. Life is good! Rusty took too long and wanted to find the perfect way to win Matty. He ended up singing to him and Matty was hooked. He did not have to buy Matty's bathwater--lol. That is anew kink for me.

James's emphasis helped the adults to explore the space and find a likely new opening. Additional explorers will arrive next week to explore the space. However, James's desire for Winston became too obvious to Winston. Winston avoided him and later moved out of their shared bedroom. James was told Winston did not want to do anything with him. James is crushed and depressed and embarrassed. He has more time during this excavation and trip to be sad and shunned. His parents may become very upset at this turn of events. Maybe, James will devote his attention to the excavation and become fixed on what is found. He needs something to take his mind off Winston.

How about Julie being almost crazy and aggressive and too pushy and guilt ridden regarding her daughter? Her interpretation of Julie's upbringing and favoritism did not sound healthy or right. She knew what had to be done and did not want anyone to object to her treatment of Julie. Julie was obsessed with Stacy to the detriment of Seth. Stacy could do no wrong. Julie might have worn her husband down so he just wanted to leave and start a better life. Re-connecting would only open old wounds. He must have thought she was overly biased for her daughter. This mess might be all due to Julie's mania and not for anything his dad did. Heck, Seth wanted to leave his home.

I liked the hacked interpretation of that pic of Caleb. He would find eating miserable with those teeth. No one at his present pack commented on his dental problems. I thought any imperfections or physical problems Caleb might have would be corrected as he healed when he changed to his human form from his wolf form. So,, who hacked the site?

Micco is stressed twice : by being with his former childhood friend, Chase, who left him when Micco told him he was gay and by Danny, now high, who accused Micco of killing Sam. Danny promised Micco he would pay with blood. Micco will need to be stronger to face these pressures.

Brian and Gordon are getting acclimated to their new home in the UK, Toby was dumped on them ill prepared for a possible 10 day stay. After some speed bumps they fitted in well. Toby is happy to be with his dad. Brian is going to see his lawyer to find out of the arrangements with Toby can be revised. He will want protection when his former ex finds out he is gay. Brian does pay a fee to support Toby and his ex. It should hit the fan when Toby's mother returns.

I somehow think Xavier and Kandric can find common ground. Xavier and his crew kill dragons, too. Kandic already knows the rumor that beings--including dragons- from Seandra escaped before the fall. Both are shamans. Xavier can help Kandric fight Frexla in the spirit world. Maybe, Thane would be a good negotiator to help Kandric understand Xavier can be a friend.

Yes, there is hope--Our distinguished author writes on a grand scale with a layered drama covering many beings not normal for most authors. 9000 words might be three standard chapters for a regular writer. Maybe Kyle will not write another record setting book length chapter. I bet 2-4 scenes would make a compelling chapter. Kandric has to meet the King and get his brothers back from Frexla. These could be two of possible great topics for the next chapter--just saying.... Of course, I want Kandric to meet Xavier, the great sand dragon.
