Yes, skipping over the intervening years likely let us miss a lot of abuse. But we’ll still see our share of it.
Jeff is indeed a dick. He’s so much of a dick, even John Holmes would be proud. Leon, you may be right there.
After a quiet week, (except for Tuesday) Saturday has arrived and Sam is helping his mom get everything set up for the party.
Sam
"Sam, I'm really proud of you for reaching out to that new boy to help him fit in. I know how hard it is to make friends in a new place. We moved a lot when I was young. It wasn't too hard for me, but my brothers had trouble a couple times."
"Thanks mom. Well, he's real nice and his locker is next to mine, so it seemed pretty natural for me to help him
Glad you liked it. The other one of theirs I have on my playlist is Fly Me Courageous, but that’s more rock than blues. Never heard either until I moved south.
Hadn’t heard that one before, I wonder if the “straight to hell” line influenced Drivin’ ‘n Cryin’ - they have a song called “Straight to Hell.” It’s kind of bluesy, not sure if you’ll like it. First heard the song after I moved to Georgia. They’re from Atlanta.
It looks like this version might need an enhancement within the last 10 chapters, the cause of Art’s stutter. The Italian descent is definitely described.
I like coincidences. Will Willie stop, we’ll see. Definitely friendly kids to reach out to the new guy. Especially one that has a built-in bully target, stuttering.
Maureen
"Hello?"
"Hello, Mrs. Lassiter?"
"Yes?"
"Hi, this is Arlo Prescott from Arlo's Reno."
"Yes, Hi, Mr. Prescott. Please call me Maureen."
"And I'm Arlo, please. Anyway, I'm just calling to confirm a time for my crew and I to arrive for work Tuesday morning. You'd said something before about getting the boys ready for school?"
"Yes, Arlo. They should be out of the house by 8:05, so really, any time after that will be fine."
"Great, we'll shoot for 8:15
