Yes, definitely paying the price for mis-identification. You're right, Fred has no motive. As I said in the prolog/description, convicted based on circumstantial evidence. The lack of a motive doesn't stop the injustice from occurring. The semen was detected, simply not identified, i.e. Bullard wasn't in the system.

Key phrase there scrubber is "right now." You're kind of on the right track, but Fred's eventual salvation comes from another direction.
