Lawyers are just so easy to pick on.

True, but something clicked in Mo right away. I would say that is accurate. Perhaps Sean didn't make a great first impression, so Mo didn't make any kind of protection offer. Not really. There are actual federal guidelines for wrongful imprisonments. Not all states follow them. Texas does. Hopefully for Fred’s sake it isn’t all of them. But then not everyone is gay. It’s hard to distinguish intent from incompetence.

It took another two weeks, but Fred got an email from the appellate court, requesting, oddly enough, only legal representation presence on Monday December eighteenth to review both cases, in two weeks. As expected, Sebastian and Karter were copied. He was reading the email for about the twentieth time when they walked in. Karter obviously saw the email, he was very cheery, "Good morning Fred." This is a very interesting story. The characters feel real. There are twists and turns all along the way. There is plenty of interaction and action between the characters. The only thing that prevented a fifth star from my perspective was the constant change of character focus from chapter to chapter. Maybe it's just me, but I tended to lose track of which characters previously did what three or four chapters back. Regardless of that fact, it is still a good read. If your reading comprehension is better than mine, and I know mine is bad, so yours probably is, that won't be a roadblock for you. Perhaps a binge read would have worked better for me. Read it!!

No worries. My reading comprehension is for shit, so it may not have been an issue for anybody else. One positive about shitty comprehension, I can read stories/books multiple times and not remember what's going to happen. Needless to say, it's a negative in my writing; I have to re-read multiple times before it sinks in enough to not screw something up later. 😊

Both of the last two points are right on. I suppose it was possible the guard, Dennison, noticed the interaction between the two men and offered a suggestion. Could have gone either way. Perhaps I could have delved deeper into Stephane's character. That would also be a possibility. If they had been married, it would have been different.

Mixed emotions. I'm kind of sad to see it end, but also was getting lost among the multitude of characters as the story went on. I set some recommendations, but really wish there was one for "Confusing." Also, don't forget to mark it Complete so it can be reviewed.

@Zuri, lots to respond to there Grudgingly, perhaps. But not necessarily willingly. Yeah, probably closer to three, but obviously Mark isn't the best lawyer. Yeah, I never really addressed this. Let's just assume his family is either dead or far away. Yeah, I guess in a way. True, but this particular guard isn't the most useful tool in the shed.

I would say not. This interaction was between Bully and Mark Watson, and quietly at that, I would imagine. The murder one charge would normally come with a death sentence. There was enough doubt among the jury that it would never have been unanimous. For Bully, we must wait and see. That's been one of my faults for a long time. I try to do better, but yeah, the courtroom is generally a back and forth between two people. I would say vers, based on activities in later chapters. True, but what happens if that asset is freed? Even serving his maximum, Fred would be out five years before Mo. Yeah, nothing's always as it seems anymore. Like I said, completely conclusive is the only time I would see it used. This gives me a thought for story #2 I have in the queue. Live long and prosper, Mr. Spock.

That may not be completely true. Stay tuned. It is possible, although perhaps Dante didn't torpedo his own cases. For whatever reason, the powers that be assigned Fred to shadow Dante, essentially naming him as his mentor. As far as Dante's actual input, so far, it's only a couple comments on Fred's appeals. If Dante was aware of what Silas was doing on the initial casework, pretrial, perhaps, he either agreed with it, or let it slide. Sebastian and Karter were copied on Fred's appeals. Dante probably didn't want to raise any flags.

An excellent question. I wonder when we'll find out. In chapter 12? Maybe. By chapter 13? Almost certainly. What about chapter 14? Okay, I give in, you'll know by then for sure. I'm thinking Thursday, Saturday, and Monday for posting the aforementioned chapters. I may get impatient myself, so there's still hope for faster answers.

Friday came, and Fred went out for dinner and drinks with Dante and Kirsten. There was a little talk about work, but for the most part, the topics were more personal. Dante was thirty, graduated with law degree from Texas A&M. It took him three attempts before he passed the bar. He was single but engaged to a long-time girlfriend named Stacy. Kirsten was twenty-three, had a bachelor's degree in paralegal studies, also from Texas A&M, and was trying to save money to begin law school

Another good one. Of course that usually raises questions or observations. If a skinwalker was evil, they could transition into someone else and cause all sorts of havoc; committing crimes and the like. Maybe that would be a way to get rid of Louella, commit a crime as her. That would be quite nasty. In the unfortunate instance where one was killed while transitioned, it seems all the science fiction I’ve seen, they would transition to their original forms. In Pops and Gramps cases, they’re hundreds of years old. Would they quickly become skeletons, or dust?
