  1. Happy Thanksgiving Back Well, he heard the results of our eavesdropping. I guess that’s something.
  2. After I picked my jaw up off of the floor, I asked him if he was pulling my leg. "Nope, 100% true. I have your copy of the POA right here. You'll need to give me the contact info for your brothers. I don't think just sending theirs out of the blue would be ideal." "Yeah, they'd probably think it was some kind of a cruel joke." I gave him their phone numbers and he called his paralegal in to notarize the document. The only catch is we have to promise to send dad $50 a month for inc
  3. It’s an epidemic. You all seem to know what’s coming before I do. I’m keeping my manuscripts in my underwear from now on. That should keep… oh, wait. Forgot the site name for a moment. 😃
  4. Not completely sure, but based on this, I'd say rare indeed. https://www.thebraintumourcharity.org/brain-tumour-diagnosis-treatment/types-of-brain-tumour-adult/astrocytoma/astrocytoma-prognosis/: A grade 4 astrocytoma is called a glioblastoma. The average survival time is 12-18 months. Sadly, only 25% of glioblastoma patients survive more than one year, and only 5% of patients survive more than five years. That's the Smokey I mean.
  5. No, pronunciation Dr. Saws All is correct. Alias Dr. Reciprocating Saw. If I'm reading it right.

    Chapter 38 S1

I just had a thought. It would have been funnier if it was bears that kept Jack warm and brought him back. Can't you just see the parents freaking out when he came back riding on Devin's back?
  7. True that. I used to have a next-door neighbor with two hors... er, Great Danes. Four-foot fence and the dogs were almost as tall as it with all four paws on the ground.
  8. Sorry to hear about your southern cancer. I hope it's cured or at least in remission. Mercy, mercy, me; I plan on having Dylan get it on in the future. He definitely needs some sexual healing.

    Chapter 38 S1

Another good job. Echoing all of the above kudos. I'm a little worried about them becoming birds in another area. There could be larger birds there that could be very dangerous to them. That and half-liter water bottles.
  10. I have to wonder as well. Although the next chapter's title MAY be a hint.
  11. Monday I leave work early and pick up Dominic for the appointment with the psychologist. We chat with her for a little while together and then she asks to talk to Dominic alone. He's a little unsure of it, but I convince him that Dr. Greene is only going to talk to him and see what she can do to help him deal with his mother's illness. He agrees to let me leave the office. After about 20 minutes, she invites me back in. "Dominic is handling the situation very well for a child his age.
  12. I’ll remind them to be smart. Yes, any windfall can be dangerous if you’re not careful how you use it. If they sell the house, they’ll have around another $100k each, based on current house prices there. But you’re right. It takes the pressure off the job outcome and housing for a bit.
  13. There’s an obvious explanation for what happened: Kirk to Mr. Scott Scotty here Eight to beam up
  14. No probate. They've been given power of attorney, once they get a fully executed copy, they can use the account immediately after showing the bank(s) the contract.
  15. Do what legally, look into a room in her own house? Or kick him out without notice. I don't think she's a homophobe, just doesn't want to actually witness gay sex.
  16. Only long enough to recognize what was happening and to freak out. You or I may have stuck around longer. Hell, I know I would have.
  17. Not to be redundant, but I'm thankful for a lot of the same things as Bill and Val. Family being the most important thing. I'm also thankful for my health. Getting up there in years, things often start falling apart. Knock wood, at 63 I'm still pretty healthy and feel like I'm 50. Except for after doing yard work, then I feel 80 😃 I'm especially thankful for finding GA and all the grrrrrreeeeaaattt people here. I've always been somewhat of a loner, and recently, aside from the wife and son, I hardly ever see anyone else. You've all made me feel welcome with your likes, comments, and even advice. Happy Turkey Everybody!!
  18. Tuesday July 4 - Randall Linden's POV - Evening Shelly comes back in from inviting the boys down for dessert and I could tell right away something was wrong. She looks like she's seen a ghost and she's rubbing her hands on her face; a sure sign that she's upset. "What's the matter dear?" "Get me a cognac, please; a double." Uh oh. She's really upset. I bring her back the drink, wait for her to take a sip, but she downs half of it in one gulp. I'm worried. "What is..."
  19. This was my first thought after reading this, there should be more people like Yale and Mason. Very nice story, even almost a year later.
  20. @Clancy59 Best of luck to you. I wouldn’t wish having to go through what you do on a daily basis on anyone. Another comment where multiple emojis would be appropriate. Sad, like, and wow were all considered. As far as the psychologist visit, I’m not too sure how deeply I’ll delve into that one. But, we’ll see. As far as the other kid in daycare, Dominic will behave, so anything that the other kid does will be totally on himself. I guess that’s a minor spoiler and goes against what I’m about to say. I’m glad you stuck with it. Believe me when I say this, beyond the initial concept and the occasional scene, very little I write is deeply planned ahead of time. Oddly enough, these stories pretty much write themselves. I started a novel in 2011 and every time I try to go back to it, I struggle to write a page or two. I’m up to page 33. I’m over a quarter of a million words here. Who knows how many I have on nifty.
  21. Sorry you had to go through that @weinerdog. Sounds like it was a difficult time. 😭
  22. If I set this in Texas, he’d for sure get the needle. Most other states it takes a while. It’s going on 4 years since Georgia did one. Sometimes I think death is an easy out for a criminal. Life without parole makes them suffer longer.
  23. I definitely wrote him as an ass. Lots of agreement there. That was Rodney Dangerfield, wasn’t it? “If I didn’t have bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.” I hear his voice in my head. Hamilton is a good one for sure. Maybe even a magician.
  24. Tough deal all around. Crazy because she’s sick, likely terminal.
  25. Monday After we arrive at the apartment, I decide I need to take stock, see what's changed since I was here last for anything but a short visit. I'm not going to do anything with Lacy's things just yet mostly just make sure there is room for my things and see what the food situation looks like. OK, we won't starve for a few days, but a shopping trip is definitely on the horizon. Now comes the part I haven't been looking forward to. I can pretend there are more things to do, and keep putting
