  1. Yes @Ivor Slipper, you are right, their names are slightly different. My mistake. I did post that comment at 12.24AM my time, so I'll plead tired.
  2. Well I suppose he is, just not that Bernard Montgomery! His interpersonal skills are certainly better. I agonized over the name when I was planning out the story but I needed a British family name that was also a given name. I was hoping the connection would not be made as quickly as you have. But this is GA, so I should have known.
  3. You will just have to wait @Summerabbacat. She makes an appearance when they are back in Sydney.
  4. Funny you should raise that, @chris191070. It's also raised in Chapter 4. 🤞
  5. I'll avoid any more Tom Gleeson impersonations, @Summerabbacat, so please speculate. More on Bertrand (his parents were friends with and admirers of Bertrand Russell) and the inheritance in the next couple of chapters. You will find out just how nasty Natasha is when they are back in Sydney. In Chapter 1 we were told that Martin has 3 children from a marriage that lasted sixteen years. He's been the good hetro husband.
  6. The race is available on YouTube but YouTube would not allow me to post the link. However here is a description of what happened. Coming into the five-man final, Steven Bradbury was the rank outsider and as the race progressed his chances looked slimmer with each passing lap. But as the leading quartet rounded the final bend, Lia Jiajun (CHN) tried an over-ambitious overtaking manoeuvre outside Apollo Ohno (USA), sending them both onto the ice and bringing down Mathieu Turcotte (CAN) and Ahn Hyun-soo (KOR) in the process. This left the way clear for a nonplussed Bradbury to cross the line unchallenged and claim the most unexpected of gold medals.
  7. A collision in the 1000 metre speed skating event in the 2002 winter Olympics gave gave Australia a new term, Doing a Bradbury or just a Bradbury. Near the end of the race there was a collision that brought down all the other competitors. Australian, Steven Bradbury, was able to stay on his feet and skate through the mass of fallen bodies to win gold. To do a Bradbury means to achieve an unexpected and unlikely success. A new expression all because of a collision
  8. Part of the mystery is solved and most of you were right in deciding that the client was Martin's father. There is more background to be revealed in the next two chapters. I intend to post this story weekly but because the next two chapters are set in England I'll post them both this week. Chapter five is back in Australia.
  9. The transit in Perth was straight forward and after clearing immigration and each buying a duty free bottle of Green Label scotch they headed for the Business lounge. They weren’t hungry or thirsty so simply relaxed and checked their phones and tablets for messages. At 7pm local time the Dreamliner lined up on runway 03 and with engines roaring lifted smoothly into the northern evening sky before tracking more to the northwest. Because of the local time difference Martin and Simon's circad
  10. Oh yes @Summerabbacat I loved the Muppets so I remember it. Wonderful stuff.
  11. Jack is not only winning over Theo but also his wolf. 🤞🤞👍

    Chapter 4

Ticklish lovers, lovingly tickling. Loved it! ❤️
  13. As Tom Gleeson would say on Hard Quiz, "Clooossse, but not right." Now, you'll have to wait to find out what you got right and what you didn't.
  14. Thank you, but I have to admit @Summerabbacat, that I am surprised by the amount of speculation this chapter has created.
  15. The easy answer is because I didn't go back and change it. I typed the whole title in upper case (TURMOIL). GA changed it to all lower case. As I'd already edited my mistakes in the story setup twice, I decided not to go for a third edit. So @Summerabbacat no significance at all. (No, I am not a follower of c c cummings in his rejection of upper case)
  16. As I have said this is a love story so eventually Martin will achieve peace and happiness, although not in the way he would have imagined.
  17. The popular speculation is that there is a family secret with Martin having a different father. Time will tell regarding that. If there was an inheritance then the father would also be dead. In that case who is the client and why the need to go to London?
  18. Now you understand the mental gymnastics we Aussies go through when we read stories set in North America.
  19. Thank you @Gary L.
  20. The title is just as much about Martin's future as the status quo.
  21. Ah, @Summerabbacat so much to unpick here, or maybe to reveal in the next chapter. Natasha will continue to play a peripheral but significant part in this story.
  22. The identity of the client is revealed in the next chapter, but that's not the end of Martin's journey.
