What a great observation, that people are often much different after they recover from an abusive relationship. If that is true, we haven't really met Marc yet.
From what Peebles said, we can gather that Wally and Clara are worried that Zach is being influenced by a homosexual (Will), but I haven't heard that they've accused Zach of being gay.
Thanks for the review...excellent as usual.
I agree with your observation on church counselors, and that was certainly the case with Peebles. His emphasis on scriptures was illustrative of that.
Thanks for the review! I don't think Brad was tuned into the abuse issue because with Robbie, it was sexually related. I think Brad focused on the sexual aspect of it, as opposed to the abuse end of it.
Thanks! I think the key thing about the 'counselor' is that he's not being malicious, he actually believes that using the Bible as a literal guide is a sound strategy.
I agree. This actually was prompted by a real-life episode, where my sister was having problems with her husband and they sought church counseling. The overriding advice to her was the need to obey her husband. Sigh.
Looking up those verses was pretty wild. I loved the one about the ravens plucking out eyeballs.
I think that we should be sympathetic to Marc's plight. Abusive relationships are very underreported in the gay community. In this situation, a guy who should have the world by the balls is turned into a lost soul with very little self-confidence. No matter what happens with Brad and Marc, it's a good thing Marc landed there.

“This place is really unique,” Marc said as we walked around the campus.
“Where did you go to college?”
“Massachusetts College of Art,” he said. “It’s in Boston.”
“I think I’ll probably go to school out here in California,” I told him.
“Here?” he asked, referring to Stanford.
“I don’t know,” I said. “I grew up around Stanford, so it would almost seem weird to go here.” I
The first fridge we bought (20 years ago) is still working just fine. We bought a replacement (and moved that to the basement) in 2000. It lasted until 2010. The repair guy told me that the newer models basically have planned obsolescence, and die after about 10 years. FYI.
Thank you so much! Thanksgiving hits in Chapter 37, so we have a bit to go before then.
Marc seems to be really uncomfortable around people he first meets, but he loosens up quickly enough.
I think Matt and Wade have a relationship that is a bit like a law. It says one thing, but where it's vague, it has to be interpreted. In this case, Matt was nervous that he'd been wrong in what was OK and what wasn't, and Wade let him know that was fine (even without permission). In that way, they define what is alright and what isn't.
I think Marc is the kind of guy to largely stay in the background, and he'll let Brad take the lead when dealing with the family. That's probably a smart move.
You didn't find anything Will did to bitch about? I keep looking outside the window to see if the world is ending (smile).
You know me well enough to know there's usually a calm before the storm, and this is really really calm.
Good point on Matt and Wade. They have these flashes of college guys, but now they're together enough to move beyond it pretty well. That's a great sign for their relationship.
If Wade were honest, I wonder if he wasn't testing Matt.
Thank you so much! I think Will deserves props for going out of his way to roll out the red carpet for Marc, and Stef probably does too, at least after he takes Marc shopping.
Zach returns next chapter, then features prominently in the next few chapters.
