Good points, all of them. I think that the Duke gave Granger excellent advice. The only real problem I would see is that he has to rely on some other people to make it work.

I think Caroline's side of the story will be very interesting...when we eventually get to hear it. George and his father both understand the importance of family, and that gives them common interests. And I have to believe that there isn't much the Duke wouldn't do for his youngest son, considering how influential he presumably was in advancing his father from an earl to a duke.

It's almost hard to speculate as to what was going through Caroline's mind. I'd have to believe that part of that comes from being successful in her own right, and subconsciously resenting George's influence. I think of the men who become powerful and rich, and then decide they deserve a mistress. Because they can.

Thanks! It's really hard to know what to think about Cavendish, since we haven't heard from him. Yet. He can either continue to avoid George, he can meet with George and to a mea culpa, or he can basically tell George to go fuck himself.

That's a good point, but what the Duke is advocating is the creation of plausible deniability. That way, when the rumors do erupt, and people are tempted to believe the worst, George and his PR machine can help make sure those rumors are dismissed.

I think that even someone as level headed as George needs that person, like his father, who can step back from the situation just enough to provide some rational advice.

Thank you for getting that dynamic, that in a series that switches points of view, you're always getting a slightly (SMILE) biased view of things. None of these guys are perfect. I think giving up on someone you love, or even worse, having them give up on you, is one of the hardest things to do. I'm glad you were able to work through your own situation.

Thanks for the review, Leon. It's got to be hard for a guy like Matt to take a massive ego blow like that, but you're right. Matt has a good setup in Chicago, and actually Wade has a good setup in Boston too.

Thanks Maarten! I agree that their common aristocratic background helped Wade and Alex become tight very quickly. It's not so hard to fathom, if you think about how we all tend to migrate toward people who share our common interests. Matt is currently a great person. He hasn't always been great in the past, and there's no guarantee he'll be great in the future. ;-)

Thanks! I think you're right, that both Matt and Will have matured a lot. I really don't think Matt was worried about ruining their good time in Paris, I think he was dreading having to face everyone and explain what happened. I'm sure in Matt's mind, it not only dredges up a very unhappy event, it's not a little embarrassing to be totally blown off while you're on vacation with someone.

Thanks for the review! I have to believe that Wally and Clara are posturing with Zach about pulling him from De La Salle, but it's possible they aren't. From their point of view, if they're concerned about who their son is becoming (as a person), it may be worth a step back in football (assuming that would even be the case) to help reel him in and guide him. You said it is hard to understand Wade and how thoughtless he's being. That's a huge clue to all of us as to how big his infatuation was/is with Alex. Wade only really makes those kinds of mistakes when his emotions are seriously fucking with him.

I bolded your sentence above, because I think it is very true of Will. On the other hand, Will isn't at a point where he can look at this totally through Zach's eyes, and I think he'd have to do that to factor in the 'love'. I think all that Will sees is Wally and Clara exerting control, and that must frustrate him well beyond what he's expressing here. If you think about it, Zach is used to making sacrifices to get what he wants. He's probably had to do that for most of his life, and he's definitely had to do that for football. That's a big part of being an athlete. Will, on the other hand, has only done that with some of his more dramatic moments, but even then, it has been more of a forced thing than a voluntary trade-off.

What constitutes "straight" and 100% heterosexuality? Is it the actual sex acts of fucking around with someone, or it is the underlying preference where a totally straight man is aroused by women? I think, personally, that we can classify Ace into that category. He messed around with Brad when he was a young teen (probably 15ish) by letting Brad suck his dick. I'm willing to write that off as typical adolescent curiosity linked with horniness. Frank's a bit tougher, because we have to take the adolescent and teen mentality out of it, but he let JP blow him just for a release, as far as we know. And Frank's been happily with Isidore (with no gay field trips) for a long time now. I'd probably slot Frank into that category too, but with less conviction than Ace.
