Thanks for that, Sam. Now seriously, you can't possibly expect to compare your own numbers to a fictional character on a gay literature website, can you? Besides, the readers at GA (except the ones that read my stories) are mostly virgins, so you should feel experienced. :-)Sometimes people get bored with character development chapters, but I like them too. There has to be a balance between action and reflection, IMHO.
Thanks for the review, Edward, and I'm sorry I didn't respond until now. I make it a point to read and respond before posting a new chapter, but sometimes I screw up.
You did a nice job of summarizing Will's responses to Tony's e-mail. It's really not all that unlike what happened with Claire and Isidore. Will's response wasn't wrong, but the way he said it the first time wasn't very nice. He's getting there.

We hauled our tired asses out of the water at 3:00pm because I’d promised Stef I’d spend time with him going over decorating plans. Dad, Kai, and I had started out at 8:00am, just like yesterday, but we’d taken a quick lunch break around noon. Today the waves were bigger, and we’d pushed ourselves harder, so I was pretty worn out.
“You did really well,” Kai said to my dad. Kai was right, he did, but there was a price to pay for that, in that he was almost t
The snakes would bother me more than the unruly men. ;-) And I don't do heat and sand well, either.
I don't have a very romanticized vision of the whole Aladdin type sheik romance. The lack of personal hygiene is a pretty big turnoff.
I mentioned this in the reviews, but Omar fabricated his 'too hot for Saudi women' story. He wasn't deported for looking that good. It was easy to believe that, though. Surprise!
That must have looked a bit strange, only having an epaulette on one shoulder. With my fixation on symmetry, I would have been seriously annoyed with my uniforms for the three years I had less than three years' seniority, and for the years I was a commander. You are right, that is Omar Borkan Al Gala. His story was that he was kicked out of Saudi Arabia for his amazing hotness, but that has since been outed as a lie. So Omar is just one more lying hot guy.
You know, for a man in his early 20's, Granger is quite the leader, and knows how to get men to do what he wants (in oh so many ways). I'll bet Akbar is probably older than Granger, but doesn't have a clue. He could learn a lot from George. ;-)
LOL. Maybe I'm getting too damn old, but having wine painted on my partially covered face, having flies swarming around me, while being stuck on a camel in the middle of a constant sand storm would tend to squelch my libido a bit.
I've been to Cairo and Luxor, but not this part of the world, but I spent some time on the route, and it wasn't too hard to get the climate down.
I'm actually early with this chapter, BTW. My goal is a chapter a week on Odyssey, but I had this one done early.
JJ is going to be totally vain, and willing to do whatever it takes to make sure his appearance is as perfect as possible. He probably gets a zit and thinks he needs a skin peel.
Six weeks of vacation is unheard of in the US unless you have a lot of seniority. Most new workers start out with two weeks. We have to work hard over here in the colonies, chopping down trees to clear the land for the plough. :-)
I totally agree with you on business trips, although I have tried to make a point to see at least one interesting thing in the cities I visit. That helps.

“My lord, it seems that we will arrive at Kosseir tomorrow morning,” Raymond said with relief. Their voyage had taken much longer than he’d planned, but that had given Granger an opportunity to read Jardines’ books on Egypt. Granger had mentally allotted himself a day or two to enjoy these ancient sites, deciding that with the vagaries of wind and travel, it would not make a difference in the end. At the same time, he knew that the sense of urgency that had dri
JP on aging: Meh.
Stef and Robbie on aging: STOP! STOP! STOP! Must inject botox! Must have plastic surgery!
Brad on aging: I little nip and tuck, but no big deal. Be subtle.
Matt on aging: As he stands right now, see Stef and Robbie (above). But by the time he's in his 30's, he may be more mellow about it.
Wade on aging: Meh.
That's a good point, but think of Dom as one of the classics. The GA equivalent of Ernest Hemingway or *insert your favorite literary giant*. He's worth taking the time to read.
I'm keeping Will's options open because Will is smart enough to do that himself. He knows that if he gets really involved with one of these wounded beasts he's run into, he's asking for no small amount of emotional pain. That is convenient from a story perspective as well, but I'm not seeing Will as the next narrator, at least not exclusively.
That is true, but as Bacchante is a fast ship, and Humphreys is a good seaman, I think her chances of making it past a French or Spanish force are fairly good.
Oooh! A review with audio aids!
Tony in Rome was definitely taken by the city, but then again, who wouldn't be. It's pretty spectacular. Will is still a work in progress, which is easy to accept since he's 15ish, but so is Tony. He isn't immature, he just has a shitload of issues to work through.
Love the joke! Absolutely love it! You could also throw the lawyers in DC into the mix there too. :-)
