    Chapter 61

I'd give it a few more chapters. :-)

    Chapter 61

I'm glad you got your iPad working on here. JP wouldn't pass the baton to Wade. If he passed it to anyone besides Brad, it would probably be Claire.

    Chapter 61

November 10, 2000 Redwood City, CA Will We went up into the stands, and I sat in between Stef and Claire. Grand was on the other side of Stef, while Uncle Jack was on the other side of Aunt Claire. Uncle Jack was a great guy, but he kind of made me nervous, because he was the kind of guy who had a friend’s back, and my dad was his friend. He almost always jumped in and stood up for my dad when there was a conflict. “When are you planning to tell your father?” Aunt Claire as
  4. I think that Nelson's charisma must have been overwhelming. Contrast that with the dour attitude of the Duke of Wellington, and I think it would be much easier for me to follow Nelson to the gates of hell. I've read a lot about Nelson, and never got even the slightest inkling that he was anything but strictly heterosexual. Hardy, on the other hand, is rumored to have played for the other team, so to speak.
  5. As good as he is with some situations, Brad seems remarkably bad when dealing with Will. I think this can be largely attributed to how similar they are. My personal experience is that it's tough to get along with someone who is like me. None of you are probably surprised by that.

    Chapter 60

  7. I think Jeff is having a tougher time being casual about this than Will is, which is why his attitude can sometime seem a little odd. It's quite possible (as I've noted in the reviews) that Wade told JP about Will's conversation with Sean. With JP, it would be hard to tell, because he can be so stone-like (and sometimes, he's just stoned. ) I really like that you have these bipolar attitudes toward Will. That means I'm writing him as a teenager correctly. Kudos to you for figuring Will out, and noting that his smart-ass attitude can happen at anytime, even when he's relatively happy, but when he's really pissed off, he's going to be organized and proactive, and change his life around. I think this is an incredibly astute observation on why Will hasn't been dating 15-17 year old guys. As you noted, he's been in an institution where most of his peers are so much younger than him (from a physical maturity point of view). He's the kind of guy who desperately needs to be in a traditional high school environment (9-12th grade). Ironically enough, the set up at H-W is probably much better for JJ.

    Chapter 17

I think that's a good way to look at it. Calvert really is totally devoted to George, so he's only going to be there for 'good', unless he does something unintentionally. Conway is another story.

    Chapter 60

Good point. You'll remember that Wade observed that he wouldn't tell anyone, except maybe JP.

    Chapter 60

Emancipation is probably only going to be a reality if Brad is OK with it. Otherwise, he'll at least get rid of Jeanine as a guardian. Wade would have been reacting with dread because he knows there's more drama waiting back at Escorial, and he's really too busy and tired to deal with more drama.

    Chapter 60

Yep. He's an organized little shit, isn't he?

    Chapter 60

I think that Brad was doing what he felt he had to do, and now Will is responding. I also think that sometimes there are two people who love each other deeply, but just can't live together (whether they're lovers, or sons). Your point about Brad being in Palo Alto was key, and I thought it was a big breakthrough on Will's part that he gets that it's the quality of time, not the quantity, that's important.

    Chapter 60

Brad blowing a gasket? You have no idea. :-)

    Chapter 60

The $5 million in trusts are from Tonto. If you think about it, that's actually a decent amount, since she would have put money aside for Harry and Barry as well, not to mention JJ and Darius. And that's just her great-grandchildren.

    Glad you liked this one.

    Chapter 60

November 9, 2000 Malibu, CA Will Tish dropped me off at Gary Anderson’s office, but I didn’t go there. My appointment with him wasn’t for another hour. Instead, I walked down to see my attorney. This time, he didn’t keep me waiting at all. “Good afternoon, Will,” he said cheerfully. I smiled, thinking that he was happier now that he knew the credit card charge would go through. “I have us all set up for Monday, the 20th. We’ll have to send out notices on this coming Monday
  17. Then you must be thrilled to death with Todd Akin. Welcome to Missouri. Scary. Anyway, I get what you're saying, but I don't think you have anything to apologize for. Everyone's been civil in this forum, especially by GA standards, and I know that my stories are going to push more buttons than others might. Sometimes that's intentional, and sometimes it just happens. Makes me think. I like that.
  18. Happy Birthday! I love you, man.

    Chapter 17

You raise a good point about Spencer, but I at the time, the Royal Navy was the largest organization in England, a massive effort, with well over 600 ships at sea. The Admiralty accomplished this with a very small bureaucracy. I think that we can forgive Spencer for not being tuned in to all the political issues involving Granger.

You're welcome! A puzzle. Ya think? (Insert evil smile emoticon)

    Chapter 17

    Now that was insightful! :-)
  22. Nelson has a tough time at Tenerife (this is where he lost his arm) but he lived a bit longer than that. He is finally killed at the Battle of Trafalgar, the battle that secured British mastery of the seas for well over 100 years. Here's Nelson's Wiki page. Good eye for detail. In Chapter 15, there was an error (now corrected) that mentioned the South Atlantic. That has been changed to South Pacific. Nonetheless, Granger is meant to wreak havoc wherever he goes.

    Chapter 17

June 7, 1797 While Bacchante sailed south, safe under the control of her first lieutenant, George Granger sat at his desk and reviewed the final correspondence that the guard boat had left him. There was a letter from Caroline, assuring him of her love, and talking of how she would miss him. There was a note from Freddie, wishing him well, and informing him that the King had seen fit to let him and Davina stay in England. Granger decided to think that was a good thin
  24. I think this is an extremely important point. I haven't done any research on this (although it is tempting to dive into Google Scholar and see what comes up), anecdotally, I have to agree with you. I actually thought about posting a poll about this, but I think your observation about self-reporting bias would make the results useless anyway.
  25. The next chapter is in final edit. I'm hoping to post it today (Sunday).
