    Chapter 18

Why thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I think that as far along on their voyage as they are, if they lose Mr. Conway, they'll just have to make do.

    Chapter 18

I think Granger is too committed to "the system" to merely toss Conway over the side, but I'm sure he'll take care of him somehow.

    Chapter 17

    And then he's back!

    Chapter 18

June, 1797 “Mr. Conway, have the young gentlemen completed their calculations yet?” Granger prompted. The midshipmen dared to shoot worried glances his way, even as they frantically tried to run the formulas that would yield that invaluable knowledge: Bacchante’s location. For Granger, it was no great secret at all, since he’d already taken his own sightings, but it was important that these midshipmen learn to be good navigators, so he left them to their calculations
  5. That is fantastic news!!!!
  6. You're absolutely correct. In fact, it took a while, IMHO, for the review system to catch on. That means that stories posted before the big 2010 conversion will show lower readership and review totals. I personally think that if the system had been in place when Dom had started posting, he'd have the most read stories and he'd have the most reviewed stories. That being said, it has affected most of us who have been here for a while. CJ's "Circumnavigation", for example, which is in excess of 100 chapters, would probably have a lot more reviews, and even though it's already the most read story on GA, I think the margin would be much larger. I also think that both "Millennium" and "Bloodlines" would have a lot more reads and reviews.
  7. Happy Birthday!
  8. The actual "views" are understated because the site only tracks how many readers go to the story page, not to each chapter. Those views are also overstated to the degree that people reread the story.

    Chapter 65

I think you picked up on a very significant point. That is really true, and I hadn't even formalized that key difference between Brad and Will until this chapter.
  10. Great band!

    Chapter 65

Thanks LEN. I don't think Robbie is trying to hurt Will, I think he's not really considering how damaged Will's relationship with Jeanine is. To Robbie, it's something that they can smile, hug, and then make up over. He's seeing that as a way to help Jeanine recover. I think he'll figure it out soon enough, primarily because everyone else gets it now.

    Chapter 65

I'm glad I could help add some pleasantness to your stressful life! Good observations; I think the key to this is the fact that Brad finally gets Will, and gets that he's a very independent person. Bringing the smack down on a person like that doesn't work.
  13. I posted something similar in the reviews regarding Darius, but I'll do that here too. Darius' world has completely transformed, and he's probably very confused. He's dealing with college, and with having this serious girlfriend, which is a big enough challenge. Then to top that off, his whole family in Malibu has pretty much gone off the deep end. His mother, who he's very attached and loyal to (we assume), is nuts. JJ is still the same, but annoying as hell. Will has stopped being the little brother who worships the ground Darius walks on, and is now challenging Darius physically and emotionally. I think if I was Darius, I'd spend most of my time sitting there, just blinking at these crazy idiots.

    Chapter 65

JJ is really loyal to his mother, and he probably sees Will as her enemy, so he's lashing out in the only way he can. If he went after Will (or Darius) privately, they may just pound him into the ground. I think that Darius is very conflicted. His mom is nuts, but he loves her. One younger brother acts like he always has, annoying as that is, while the other one has suddenly decided that he's all grown up.

    Chapter 65

Good point on the Danfields. I suspect they'll be fine..in public.

    Chapter 65

Thanks, but seriously, you think this will stop the bickering? LMAO. With this group? I'm not seeing it. Just saying. :-)

    Chapter 65

That's the truth. I thought it was appropriate for Robbie (and Brad) to be reminded that their relationships with their mothers gives them no grounds to lecture Will.

    Chapter 65

It would have been more passive aggressive at Escorial, too, if outsiders would have been there.

    Chapter 65

November 22, 2000 Escorial, CA Wade “When does everyone get in?” Matt asked JP, and then leered at me. I rolled my eyes, even as I felt myself blushing slightly. We were leaving tomorrow morning to spend Thanksgiving with my family, but Matt was still hoping for an orgy tonight. “We will be a smaller crowd this year,” JP observed, his stolid expression hiding how that saddened him. “Tim and Max will be at the Mission, Lou and Marcel are staying in Montreal. Kevin and Cody ge
  20. Happy Birthday!!!
  21. I hate it when you're so quiet and demur. As usual, you are right.
  22. I think reviews and feedback can be awesome, unless they get petty. I've used feedback from my readers to make significant changes in the direction of my stories, and they turned out a lot better because of it. I tend to ignore those that aren't well thought out, or are whiny. The ones that conflict me the most are those by readers who declare, with self-appointed authority, that they seemingly know my characters better than I do. On the one hand, I'm flattered that they have gotten so into the character that they feel that way. On the other, it's a little irksome to be told that, considering I created them. :-)
  23. Thanks Renee! Of the two, I like this one better. I was inspired to write this after spending a lot of time reading about WWI, and the horrors of trench warfare.
  24. I'm sorry I haven't been around, and that I haven't been writing lately. Things are hella busy in my world. I'm working on a conference paper that I have to present in two weeks, and after that's done, I should have some time to finally knock out a chapter or two.
  25. Sorry I'm late to the party. Hope you had a great birthday.
