    Chapter 101

    Time for a poll!
  2. So now that we know Curtis Buck is dead, the question is: who killed him?

    Chapter 101

April 28, 2004 Malibu, CA Will “What’s your plan today?” Travis asked me. “Same as yesterday,” I said. “Surf.” “Fucker,” he replied, looked at his watch nervously, then relaxed. “Time for a quick breakfast.” “I can take longer,” I said, rubbing his nose in the fact that I had no obligations. We walked into the kitchen to find three other people there: Cody, a guard named Steve, and a large woman I’d never met. Steve had really dark black skin, while the wom

    Chapter 100

I'm not following you. Maybe it's because it's Friday night and I'm mildly wasted. So help me out with this.

    Chapter 100

April 25, 2004 Malibu, CA Will “Are you going to share this letter with Jake?” I asked Travis. “I probably should have done that,” he said, and looked guilty. “I’m sorry. I’m still processing all of this. I’m not thinking real fast.” “You’re doing just fine, but I think that note would answer some of Jake’s questions,” I said. Travis just stared blankly, in a confused daze. “Can I fax it to him?” Travis shook his head, as if trying to physically clear the c

    Chapter 99

April 25, 2004 The Pacific Coast Highway Pacific Palisades, CA Will “Nice that traffic is light,” Travis said. “I’m usually fighting it going the other way.” It was 8:00 in the morning, and we were heading to Malibu so Travis and I could get situated, and so we could surf. “That’s because it’s Sunday, dipshit,” I said, giving him crap. “Whatever,” he said, which made Stef smirk because he’d said it just like I did. “I am wondering how you are planning t

I did. That way I don't have to make stuff up. 😀

    Chapter 98

April 24, 2004 The Beverly Hills Hotel Beverly Hills, CA Will It was hard to imagine a bigger bombshell could be dropped into this group: Travis’s grandfather, Tom Buck, was his father, not his grandfather. How totally messed up was that? He’d been sleeping with his daughter-in-law! I tried to conjure up a mental picture of him, curious as to whether he looked like Travis or Jake, but he’d always had a beard, and that seemed to dominate my memory of him. I looked over at

I would respectfully point out that the dinner isn’t over yet. 😈

    Chapter 97

I'm pondering this... so Grandpa Buck kept this whole thing a secret, and probably helped completely fuck up his family. On the other hand, it seems like he treated Travis pretty well and in the end, he came clean.

    Chapter 97

😀 Indeed it does. That wasn't the original way I planned for this mystery to end, but I think this is more chillingly humorous.

    Chapter 97

April 24, 2004 The Beverly Hills Hotel Beverly Hills, CA Will “Waves rocked today!” Travis said, and high fived me. We’d gotten down here in time to spend a couple of hours in the water and still make it to the hotel and get ready for the big party tonight. We were sitting in Grand and Stef’s suite, enjoying some pre-dinner cocktails. “Makes me remember what I liked best about living down here,” Dad said. He impulsively looked down at his Blackberry and freaked out.
  19. I can see Galitzine as a good likeness of K-Kris in NYC.
  20. I'm not feeling it.
  21. This isn’t the end. The next book will take us into the Peace of Amiens.

  23. I have actually had this chapter written for a while but I hesitated to post it because I wasn't sure how I wanted the story to end. My thoughts on the cliffhanger, such as it is, is that there are many parts of George's life that are unsettled, and that isn't going to resolve itself soon. So perhaps the same degree of uncertainty that he feels, we also feel.
  24. July 14, 1801 Brentwood, UK Granger pulled his horse from a trot to a walk, a move that his mother mirrored, as they slowly meandered down the road leading to the village where his tenants lived. The Duchess of Suffolk had suggested this outing to try to distract her son, because while Granger had tried to remain impassive when he’d told her about Calvert, she was perceptive enough to know his anxiety was expansive. They slowly walked their horses through the village, th
