We’d ended up getting home late last night, and it was my fault, just one more thing to feel guilty about. Today was the day that Travis planned to vanish into invisibility, and I’d wanted to spend some extra time with him. We’d spent time in the bedroom on Stef’s plane, just the two of us, while the plane was parked on the tarmac at Burbank. The only person who had been annoyed by the delay was Brittany, but that was just
Travis is a loner, and he’s determined to handle this on his own. He also wants to prove that he can. So all of the smart moves, like hiding at Escorial, aren’t going to satisfy him.
Some things to consider:
1. Granger loves the navy and the sea, so I cannot see him deciding to be a stay-at-home earl. 😀
2. I don't think that being on the Privy Council will restrict his activities at all. This was a different era, and it is inconceivable that a gentleman and an aristocrat like George would be tortured for information, even by a more cutthroat leader like Napoleon.
3. If you think of the timeline here, we are almost up to the Peace of Amiens, which is what the next book will focus on. Right now it's a boring time, more or less, on the high seas, and a good time for Granger to put his home affairs in order.

Granger’s carriage stopped smartly in front of Beau Brummel’s home, the second time it had been there that morning. The first occurrence was to drop Daventry off, and now this second appearance was to deliver Granger to this address. Granger was not surprised to see a considerable number of people there, as attending Brummell’s ‘levee’ was almost as popular as attending that of the Prince of Wales.

Travis and I finished lugging our boards up the hill, and as soon as we passed through the gate into the yard, his tension level soared. It was the same thing that happened to him every day we got back here, ever since he’d found out about his father’s financial struggles. It was like the only times he could relax and let himself go were when he was surfing or fucking. Of course, I was more than willing to help him out with both of those acti
I think he’s perceptive enough to read that Sergio wants him to take charge. If you visualize it, one negative comment from Sergio would have snapped Brad right into line and made him back off.

“I have not had this much fun surfing in a long time,” Dad said euphorically, as we paddled through the keyhole and toward the tent.
“That’s because you’re a dork,” Scott Slater said. It was funny that he had been a little freaked out when he’d met Travis, but within fifteen minutes he was back to being his fun, playful self. I thought it was odd that Keenan didn’t come with him. Maybe they weren’t together anymore. I opted not to be a
