    Chapter 29

August 18, 2003 Escorial, CA Will “That was fun,” Ryan said, as we got out of the limo. “I’m going to bed,” JJ announced, and just took off, like he was in a hurry or something. Sometimes he was socially impaired, but fortunately, we were used to him. “Well okay then,” Darius said, rolling his eyes. He, Ryan, and I walked back to my room and out onto the patio. I grabbed beers and a joint, and we kicked back and relaxed, talking about all the people at the
  2. It is a most frustrating fact.

    Chapter 28

Thanks for the review! I think it's safe to say that Buzz is being sleazy by damn near any definition of things. It will be interesting to see inside his mind (to the degree that we can) and find out what's going on.

    Chapter 28

I visualize John and his group and laugh. They're so white-upper-class trying so hard to be rappers...and it's just not working.

    Chapter 28

JJ is pretty good at working things out, and that can't have been an easy decision. It was probably sitting under the surface, rubbing against his subconscious

    Chapter 28

Glad you liked the chapter. JJ is a tortured soul, and destined to remain that way in my evil hands.

    Chapter 28

August 17, 2003 Escorial JJ I sat on the patio, totally pissed off, watching everyone else have a good time. Ella told Darius that I was harmless, just bitchy? Seriously? What was I, some fucking freak show, this temperamental person who went around snarling at people but never bit back? I was really getting sick and fucking tired of people thinking I was that pathetic. It’s like when the deal with Alex went down, and Will thought he had to fly to England and save my
  8. Neither. I didn't really kill them off. They were real people who died. I can't kill off real people. Characters in the Box that are fictional...their death's count.

    Chapter 27

Thanks Tim! It's good to hear from you.
  10. No, only in print during a story. Right on the Senator.
  11. Exactly. I think Aaron Hayes dies as well, no?
  12. A challenge: CAP BODY COUNT
  13. I'm wondering how many people I've killed off in each of the Chronicles stories. Anyone up for a research project? If you guys do this for me, I'll tell you what the body count will be when Black Widow is done.
  14. That's my vision, but this guy needs squintier eyes, and much blonder hair.
  15. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    Chapter 27

Ah yes...strings...or perhaps threads of a web instead?

    Chapter 27

Why thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I chuckled at your reference to drama, and couldn't help compare this to the Thanksgiving they just celebrated at Goodwell (in "Streak")

    Chapter 27

You're such a cynic. What about Frank?

    Chapter 27

I've been thinking about the scene with Jack and Brad, and in my mind, it was not a meeting of equals (at least at this point), but one where Jake is meeting someone he admires and has a bit of adulation for. Not unreasonable, considering Brad's wealth and status. That may make both of them react a bit differently than I'd normally expect. Not that it wasn't just a little bit sleazy.

    Chapter 27

I was trying to decide who was actually doing most of the hitting in that encounter: Jake or Brad. Regardless, that was pretty tasteless, and Brad seemed to get that, at least internally.

    Chapter 27

An excellent review. Thank you. I think that, with Will's appointment, Stef wasn't thinking in classical board terms, where the key extract is time, treasure, or talent (emphasis on treasure). I think he was thinking along the lines you mentioned, on keeping the foundation focused on doing the right thing. If you stop and consider how Stef's mind works, it makes even more sense. Even when he's pissed off, he's constantly taking in information and looking for connections. The argument he had with Will over funding Halliburton the other companies like that would have stuck in his memory.

    Chapter 27

One would think, although I doubt Darius really gives too much of a shit.

    Chapter 27

Thanks Kevin. I'm trying to get back on track with weekly posts. I think there's a pretty good chance I'll have 28 ready by next Thursday. After that, we'll have to see.

    Chapter 27

August 17, 2003 San Francisco, CA Brad The limo pulled up in front of the condo building on Telegraph Hill, a place that was incredibly familiar to me since I’d all but lived here for six months. I stared at the building, pondering how I felt, and found that I was just fine being here. I thought about how my relationship with Marc had ended, and how I really hadn’t missed him. And now that I was at this place that was such a big part of us, I didn’t long for him, an

He is the most spoiled but I doubt that trip had any appreciable impact on him.
