    Chapter 18

It's all those little clues designed to help you out. ;-)

    Chapter 18

JJ is turning out to be a fun character to write. Wasn't sure that would end up being the case.

    Chapter 18

So you come out of the shadows just long enough to bitch at me? (SMILE). I've been busy too, and I worry that the slowness of my posting has made the story seem less contiguous. Not much I can do about it. I do think you're being very unfair to the characters by noting that they've not really grown. I think we've seen enormous leaps by Will, JJ, Brad, and Zach.

    Chapter 18

Thanks! You're very spot-on with the comparison to Anna Wintour. I actually wrote this chapter using her and Vogue, then considered re-writing it using her alter-ego, Miranda Priestly of Devil Wears Prada fame. In the end, I decided to create my own bitch, as an amalgamation of the two.

    Chapter 18

Thanks! You know, your mind is even more diabolical than mine.

    Chapter 18

Ah, a grammar correction. You're right, that is a terrible sentence, but it's contained within dialog, so I'm calling it fair game. I think that Brad may have said something smoother if he weren't nervous and uptight, which the horrible sentence seems to illustrate. ;-) Setting you up? Muhahahaha

    Chapter 18

Not much Will here...you're right...but rest assured he'll be back. ;-)

    Chapter 18

I think that Zac, at this point, is just flirting with JJ. There's nothing to suggest that they could be anything but friends, and a designer like him wouldn't want to alienate anyone who was influential.

    Chapter 18

Thanks Gary. I think that John would be fine with JJ dating anyone who treated him well. JJ doesn't even seem to be on his sexual radar.

    Chapter 18

August 5, 2003 New York, NY JJ Aunt Claire and I finished our dinner at a small neighborhood bistro, and then got in the car to go to the preview. She and I were so much alike that it was easy to be around her. I glanced at her and changed my mind. We weren’t really alike, but we shared the same tastes and interests. “You look really nice tonight,” I told her. “Thank you,” she said pleasantly. “So do you.” “Can’t look like a sl

    Chapter 39

February, 1800 HMS Valiant The Mediterranean Sea A shot crashed into Valiant below her counter, but there was no scream accompanying it. By Granger’s calculations, they’d taken eight hits, but those hits hadn’t caused major damage. Even more importantly, no one had yet been wounded. Valiant’s stern chasers roared out in reply. Granger studied the fall of the shot, and thought one might have scored a hit on the lead xebec. Much like Valiant, though, she see

I can so see Daventry using that attitude to cover up his real motives. I see him as a less foppish version of the Scarlett Pimpernel.

    Chapter 38

I'm glad you liked it. The next chapter will hit soon enough.

    Chapter 17

Kudos to Will for admitting he's wrong, something that's a struggle for Brad, but I think Gathan was a reasonable response to Stef's moralizing. While the situations aren't identical, they are close enough for Stef to put his sanctimonious attitude on hold.

    Chapter 38

I'll have to get the next chapter posted soon.

    Chapter 17

I don't think we know ALL of Will's plan, but it makes sense that he'd do this. I think they'll be interesting neighbors.

    Chapter 17

I loved your review, but actually found something I didn't entirely agree with. I think that Claire's view of family is different than both Will and JP. I think that, for those two, it is almost an obsession or passion, while for Claire, it is important. But not an obsession.

    Chapter 38

I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. It is no great secret that Nelson was a difficult subordinate. Granger summed it up nicely, pointing out that a relatively dour and formal admiral like Keith would have a tough time handling a free spirit like Nelson. It makes Jervis' tolerance of Nelson's strategies that much more important and valuable.

You make a very good point. Most of us learn from our mistakes.
