  1. Kind of agree with you, the White Road was not as exciting
  2. The Nightrunner series is always in my active reading, when I am not researching ideas and subjects
  3. Thanks Blue, I hope I am wrong, but it'd be nice to win the GA Stanley Cup for once though I would rather have Matt take it, so we get a parade in Boston
  4. I know people waiting for Big Squeeze, but I can't release new chapters without some aid. I also have begun writing a new Sci-Fi story, one that I really like and hope intrigues people with its ideas and hook. Take a look at my request and a short example of my sci-fi story, if you want to offer help:
  5. Make it so HH5! - In my best Picard impression This looks cool, maybe it will regenerate interest in the original universe's Star Trek again, I'd love them to do a show crossing the 24th and 25th centuries after the Dominion War, Voyager, and the Final Borg invasion (Relaunch novel epic event, read them as a dozen writers came together with their stories to do it).

    Ender's Game

Songmaster, ehh....not going to go into a full rant about the difference between Homosexuality and Pederastic relationships, nor the stupid plot point about the destructive nature of Card's characters. Let's all cross our fingers and pray this is not another Battlefield Earth. I liked Ender's game as a Novel, but Hollywood has some really bad screenplay techniques.

    Ender's Game

Science fiction is in need of a new direction outside of human conventions or morality tales, Sci-Fi was originally based on imagination for better or worse of mankind, but much of it is rehashed over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I love Ender's Game and a lot of Science fiction novels, but there needs to be more in science fiction than human themes and perspectives that have been done for decades. On the flip side, Hollywood sugar coats science fiction and fantasy movies, not wanting to push the boundary of audiences or an implied moral/ethical frontier that certain types of things can't be made into movies, i.e. kids can't go to war among other things unless they're teenagers (ugh, the aging effect), dark psychological terror can't be mixed with fictional characters in fictional settings, and unless you are doing a "Saw" tribute, gore cannot be part of standard movies. Show a bifurcated 10 year old's corpse or limbs strewn out on the ground from an alien attack. Both science fiction writers and movie studios are unable to push their own barriers. Writers can't move beyond human experience to create science fiction. Movie studios can't depict human experience for science fiction. (Without the stunning 3D, Avatar was just dances with wolves)

    Colonisation

Don't get me wrong, I am a sci-fi enthusiast and unknown writer of it However, the problem is getting there. Water, food, and radiation protection for 9 months is not so simple. Also, the big thing that modern space enthusiast forget is that radiation shielding cannot stop all high energy cosmic rays. You need magnetic shielding, which is currently in its infancy. We can in theory block some cosmic rays, but there are just too many beaming out from every star in the cosmos from the beginning of time at such high velocities and energy levels. Also, the power requirement is going to require a lot of problems. Remember fuel is limited and solar power conversion is still weak. When you can solve the magnetic shielding question for cosmic rays get back to me

    Colonisation

Guys, I have a better plan, let's implode Jupiter and colonize Titan and Europa The other problem with a trip to Mars is the radiation getting there. At the best possible speed of our space craft, it would take at least 9 months to get to Mars. That is assuming they are launching during the closest orbit and utilize the gravity slingshot correctly. Even in earth orbit, astronauts have a very big issue with dangerous radiation and cosmic rays coursing thru their bodies and breaking down DNA, causing the higher frequency of Cancer and other illnesses. In addition, what type of food can you eat during the long trip? Force = Mass x acceleration, if you don't have enough lifting fuel, you can't escape earth's gravity and food would be a big problem to keep for 9 months even the freeze dried kind. Here's another one that Zombie did not mention that is logical and simple issue, How do you carry enough Oxygen to sustain human life? Where do you get enough fresh water for human consumption on the flight to Mars? How do you avoid asteroids the size of pebbles traveling at 10,000 miles/hour from taking out your entire ship? Oxygen production, water reclamation, and shielding have come far, but currently we cannot feasibly send large groups of people to be colonist for Mars. We might be able to do small groups of four or five with a massive craft and high costs, but that is not a wagon train to the stars.
  14. I have a very odd theory about extinction, not really evolution and not creation Here's my thought on extinction based on natural arguments: if every single creature needs to keep on reproducing in order to keep up the species and adaptation is developed to better its ability to survive and function, then homosexual behavior would have long been eliminated by generations of selection in our earliest proto-species (way before dinosaurs and into the Cambrian). Think about it, there are few biological benefits and many drawbacks. Yet, everyone on this site is living proof that the concept has very big gaping hole of logic. Even bisexuality would have slowly disappeared after millions of generations, let along several billion generations of diverse life-forms. Behind the extinction of a species, I think there is something more fundamental to what shape their world and a certain predestination to destruction. I think every species on earth has a built-in extinction potential based on their biological factors like their comfort level a different temperatures, dietary changes, and other organisms in their ecosystem. Even Humans cannot avoid it, we have been hit by a growing strains of new bacteria along with shrinking birth rates.

Long Live the Martian Resistance! Actually Centrifugal force can create an artificial amount of gravity equal to earth as envisioned by Arthur C. Clarke's 2001 Space Odyssey. The idea is viable and could be adapted to space stations. If we need to, we could start artificial gravity fitness centers on Mars that will help maintain muscle tone. The thing we should be worried about is the Martian radiation belt. Unlike earth, Mars does not have a strong EM belt protecting it against cosmic rays, which means a disturbingly high chance of cancer.
  16. I'm heading to California for a trip soon, does that count as an excuse
  17. http://money.cnn.com/2013/05/06/pf/taxes/internet-sales-tax-vote/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 Goodbye tax free shopping and Amazon Bulk purchases, online shopping may be getting taxed. I get it from a tax perspective, it has been a gaping loophole in the US and international tax jurisdiction that people can buy a lot of items online while avoiding sales tax. It isn't fair to brick and mortar businesses like Best Buy that I go in there to check out the newest gadgets, then go online to buy it at a lower price without taxes. Wonder if this may extend to internet transactions like GA membership and/or other paypal transactions will get sales taxes as well? That'd suck a lot, so I advise members to keep an eye out.

    Anime?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rurouni_Kenshin_%282012_film%29#Box_office Try to find it if you can Thorn Unlike the horrible adaptation that Dragonball was made into, the live action version of Rurouni Kenshin is praise worthy and fun for old fans. Bridging from manga to anime to live action is a cool way to see your favorite characters in different dimensions, from 2D, 3D, and 4D

    Anime?

I am man's best friend so why not? The hetalia manga is interesting too. Most humorous character for me is canada, I think canada is funny for being underrated by everyone. He needs some of confidence or a seme As for classic anime, anyone here remember kenshin. Dark, historical, and interesting.
