I posted this on my story forum discussion over in Jeff's fort, but as I also post Exodus on GA, I thought I should also let you guys in: One of the biggest issue with a writer is that his stories are sometimes based on his emotional and physical condition. Physically, I am fine, but emotionally I was kind of lost after a rough breakup with my old boyfriend and the lost of my previous job. I did not know if I could continue to write anymore in this universe, but life finds a way and one door closes and another one opens as our CSU authors know very well . I am going through the process of integrating ideas that I developed in the last few months for my stories and I am probably throwing out the old master plan for WoD and Exodus. WoD or World of Difference was suppose to have a long journey of exploring the historical faiths, philosophies, and ideologies with gay references throughout human history to showcase the plight, trials, and triumph of LGBT people. It would have ended in a bittersweet reconciliation between a possible future post apocalyptic world that ties into my second story Exodus. Exodus on the other hand would show the human issues of groups, working customs, technology, and the start of a new civilization. I wanted to do something more in depth and dynamic than Battlestar Galactica, in either the old or new form, had done. I will probably still continue on that course, but I think that as my story borrowed a religious concept, then I should also offer something more to that side of the story as well. After reading the coming chapters of Exodus, I hope you, my reader, will understand why I am choosing to explore this part of my story more and see the connections that I am trying to draw. Whether or not I will integrate both universes together into one continuous timeline or multiple timelines in the same reality, it is still up to my creative thought process.

....and all through the forums, not an author was stirring, not even in the soapbox Happy Christmas Eve! (It's Christmas day somewhere around the world, but it's still Christmas eve here) Happy Hanukkah! (Probably too late for potato pancakes and spinning tops) Happy Kwanzaa (I really don't understand this holiday) And for those of us that did celebrate it, happy Winter Solstice! (Great holiday that very few people understand, except certain farmers) It does not matter what faith or cultural background you may come from; I wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season even if it's the tail end now. PS: I've been wondering does anyone on here know how to roast a goose. I got one this year and don't know what to do with it.

New Life, New Adventures, New stories waiting to be told
W_L posted a blog entry in Life is worth an entry
Well, I am back after several months of leave. I am enjoying my new job as head of Accounting for a health center management company. The task is daunting and many people's livelihood and possibly lives depends on things that I look over. Understaffed and overworked, but I am very grateful. I also am dating again, wohoo! I am taking this guy very slowly; we might not develop anything more than casual lovers, but I am happy to have someone around and I bet he is too. As for new adventures and materials, I have built up months and months worth of sad, tear soaked nights of loneliness due to my old relationship that has finally been exorcised from me. Now I need to figure out how to turn my notes into story plots and push out new adventures for my stories. -
What is the essence of life? Is it merely living moment by moment or is there more?

Living Life By WL (Some people live life as they want it to be; others live life as it needs to be. What is the true spirit for living life as it should be?) “Wake up TJ!” screamed an irate teenage boy. “It’s Saturday; I don’t have to work, so why should I get up?” replied the husky voice of a slightly older man. He wasn’t old in the traditional sense being only 28. He felt older due to some very difficult experiences in life. “Come on TJ, why don’t we go out to the park or somet

There are still many worlds that man can explore, but they have failed to acknowledge their existence.

The following story is part of the Exodus universe) (On-board the science ship, Intrepid) The silence of space offers many chances for reflection. While the world and universe may change due to time, silence brings everything back to the point of infinity, where time has no meaning. It is here that concepts, ideas, and dreams go beyond what our reality limits us to. In a cabin aboard one of many ships, two lovers have lived with this idea long before their journey. I wonder, who's attracted to "Sex and the City" then?
-
True, it's a matter of interpreting the final sequence. However, new memories and thoughts could be created within a dream. It's the reason behind the entire movie's concept of a dream within a dream. The wife and the guy were creating things within their dream world for years, but it was the wife that lost track of reality from the dream or in fact awoke from the dream, again depending on your interpretation. This entire movie reminds m of the Shakespearean verse from Hamlet that immortalizes the thought:
-
Don't forget, once you dream far enough, then your dream is your reality. The guy never accepted seeing his kids again in any of the dream sequences until the end. Does that mean he is in reality or does it mean he has accepted what he "believes" is reality? As long as you're happy and life works for you, a dream is equal to any perceived reality.
-
After seeing it, I kind of thought there were some hidden psychological meanings within the film. The entire movie is built around a psychological concept called a catharsis, which is a strong expressive moment of personal reflection. However, there's also some hints in there about certain other psychological double meanings, like the wife dying, the kids, and the old father figure.

Mighty Max was cool and educational. A kid, who has a magic cap that took him everywhere even across time and space. It also had an occult backgrounds like the Lemurians (Talking chickens was a good cover ), which I have only heard about as a pseudo-scientific/paranormal civilization, it's kind of like Atlantis, but much rarer due to conspiracy theories. I also enjoyed the magic school bus as a kid.

I entered into a self imposed depressive time in my life, I don't blame him for leaving me. He did nothing wrong.

Let's see here's what happen in the time I was absent from GA: First the bad: 1. Lost my old job as a consultant due to corporate re-organization. 2. Lost my boyfriend due to lack of communications after I lost my old job. I went into isolation and he left me. 3. Stopped writing all my stories due to depression. Good things: 1. Got a new, better job as the head of Accounting of a Health Management Firm directly under the CFO. Basically, overseeing several different community health centers and working with patients, vendors, and insurers. It's pretty exciting. 2. Am looking for a new boyfriend, who will stand by me during my saddest times. 3. Starting to write again, but I don't have much time or the old heart to write all my stories, so I will concentrate solely on Exodus for the time being.

Thanks guys, It is part of my larger Exodus universe, so the elements will not be passed over later on. My thought was to look at the worlds that we don't think about often, i.e the world of the disabled and handicapped. As I am a blind gay man, I know the world pretty well from memory. To other kids in school, the "special" kids were aliens onto themselves. If you add in the aspect of being gay, then you have a very interesting outlook for these characters as they progress. @Graeme - Agreed, it is more concise based on using more factors, i.e base 8 verse base 10 as you pointed out. I am trying to develop this language based on two things that work together, the Fibonacci sequence and geometric attributes. There is a correlation with geometry and the sequence, which could in theory create a "universal" language. I will fine tune the written language in Exodus.

The biggest problem with Objectivism comes from the concept of "I" or individuality. If you take the "individual" human being concept too far, you will have a guy living in the woods somewhere completely alone. Yes, the individual can "survive" the world, but progress and civilization will be lost. In Ayn's counter against collectivism, she created a model of belief that far too many trusted without questioning the outcome. While collectivism is to Communism; Individualism is to Anarchism. @James: I am a classic conservative, I feel that Ayn Rand ushered in a corrupting virus within the field of conservatism, which the anti-commune conservatives decades ago never understood or saw. Today's conservatives are closer to Anarchist than they are to principles or values in human logic and potential. In human Civilization, we, as a species, have to work together for common goals. It's less collectivism and more on the concept of entanglement. We need to work on the concept of inter-independence rather than pure independence.
-
I've read it several times, but I am not an objectivist. Fountainhead is a good novel nonetheless, it asks unique questions on the concept of creativity and aesthetics. Aesthetics is a cornerstone to Rand's Objectivism, which redraws the line of philosophical truth to make the individuality unique. Though, basing a life on aesthetics is kind of sad as only you can enjoy such a reality, while the universe around you is truncated on principles of entanglement. Entangling truths and thoughts make any joy derived from such objective pursuits shortlived.

How do you spice up your sex life with your partner or other
W_L replied to W_L's topic in The Lounge
The food play is interesting suggestion, but I don't know if making him my sundae will be fun or scary (He doesn't trim his area as much as I'd like) I've thought of Cos play aka Roleplay and it might help; he's into theatre and I use to do small parts, so we might try it out. Our conversations are great, but I wish sex could be more integrated. Have any of you guys or girls ever approach this stage of a relationship where you find sex getting boring? -
It just seems like sex is getting boring for me. I know he's not bored with what we're doing, but he was a virgin before we got together, so I guess it might just be the thrill I am bringing. I really enjoy our conversations and debates over everything from politics to movies to music. I really like the conversations as they keep changing and topics are so fluid. I wish sex was the same. Maybe I just have too high a libido or something, but I really want to change up our sex life. I have tried to ask him about alternative sex, but he seemed kind of lukewarm to the idea. He doesn't want to try bondage, which I can understand; though, I won't lie being a top turns me on. We both find leather to be too skin tight and also kind of sweat inducing. Neither of us have any fetishes to fur, feet, or any other things/parts. We're still too early in our relationship to try a threesome. Any advise guys or techniques to spice up our sex lives?

Babylon will always be a classic of the 90's. Telepathy is an interesting power, knowledge is ultimately the greatest power you can have.

Aww, but Avatar the cartoon show was fun Avatar the movie was odd and too 3D cinematic I am similar with info dumps that are more Star Trek - esque. The thing about the info dumps is hard to avoid for techno-sci-fi stories. I might just write a short of my own for the summer anthology.
