Dick's dystopia Blade Runner fantasies are here: French Woman Engagement to Robot I don't know how to feel about this, on one hand, I am glad Robots are getting treated with love and tenderness (hopefully it will prevent Terminator-esque insurrections), but I know some will think it strange to me that you can fall in love with a machine. I generally like the concept as a Science fiction writer in that genre, but I feel like this may not be as mature of a relationship as it could be given more time for robots/anroids in this case to develop. AI, Artificial Intelligence, is only in its infancy, and personally I have no mental attraction to infants, but that's what they are right now and there's a part of me feeling sort of guilty about it too. Since robotic love is now "a thing" when should we welcome robots into human society as equals and friends, lovers and potential lovers like we are starting to do with same sex and trans people, and ultimately allow them the freedom to dictate their own destinies. What do you think? Will humanity start to accept robots as more than tools/machines? Or are we going to mistreat them and exploit them as toys for our personal pleasure? If that's the case, at what point should we stop?

Batman has always been the linchpin for me, even when I was a kid and preferred Marvel. His story was the most fun and versatile of all superheroes on TV in 1990's, including Spidey. Recent Comic strips also make some fun commentaries too: Superman has statues, Flash has a Museum, Wonder Woman has legions of Female fans and Girl power admirers, so batman gets some love now too in the DC comic universe: BatBurger! - It is the most incredibly smart/fiendish/commercially applicable idea DC has come up in a long time. And Batman/Bruce Wayne's reaction is priceless at the idea of his fight against Joker and other villains being turned into a McDonalds-like restaurant: I'd grab a BatBurger if such a place existed in the real world

Many people may not read comic books anymore, but most do watch movies and TV shows. There are two major publishers in this area: DC and Marvel Comics with competing stories, heroes, and ideals. For those of you who are not familiar with the different lines of Comic Books let me list Some Flagship Comic Properties for each: DC: Superman Batman Wonder Woman The Flash Green Lantern Green Arrow Justice League Lucifer (Yes, they own the Devil's Comic book, which is also a TV show on Fox) Watchmen Marvel: Spider-Man Incredible Hulk Iron Man Captain America Thor The Avengers X-Men Each studio has made movies based on their characters, some very successful ones like Spider-Man, The Avenger, Superman and the Dark Knight Trilogy. ------------- Personally, I used to be a big fan of Marvel, I liked their gritty stories and their exciting plots far more than DC, except for Batman's line of comic books. However, in the last year, I've grown to actually like DC more as I began to enjoy their TV shows more, so I want to read the comics. Their new line of Comic books, "Rebirth" is fun and I am enjoying the plot a lot more than I thought I would, especially with the the introduction of the Watchmen storyline into DC. Watchmen was a favorite movie of mine and seeing it slowly coming into a universe with far more idealism and hope makes me as the reader entertained. Don't get me wrong, I like reading light stories coming out of it too, like the new team up between Batman's emo teen assassin son, Damian, and Superman's naive adorable son, Jon. A good bit of humor mingled with serious questions go a long way in making good comic book characters (and hopefully comic book couples in a few years, here's hoping to see a main line LGBT couple in comic books ). Marvel has been going down hill for me over time after the last Avenger's movie and Civil War story arc. It just not as fun anymore. Also, I hate how the Hulk is gtting written and written out of the Marvel universe in its current run (I happen to like the Green Gentle Monster with anger issues ) Plus yesterday's news story isn't inspiring me to be their fan or supporter. Marvel's Exec Blames Diversity as cause of Slumping Sales (This is a Gay Authors' site, diversity and writing are at the heart of what we do. That felt kind of cold coming from Marvel.) So I want to open this up to discussion, which comic book universe do you prefer?

I just found out today 2 more co-workers I know have ADHD. Has anyone ever asked the question, why do so many adults and kids seem to suffer from this illness? I mean, many kids are hyperactive and so are many adults, but what makes this condition so prevalent in modern times? Is it merely diagnostics? or is it a technicality?

Being gay does not make me any less a human being than anyone else, same as being Asian, Blind, or being a High IQ guy. If you approach the world looking for uniqueness for yourself, you will find it rather lonely. If you approach the world, looking for commonality, everyone has points of intersection somewhere, even antagonistic relationships have to intersect. You are only a minority if you choose to view yourself as a minority, if you do not want to expand your horizons beyond what society defines or what your biology defines. Being gay, non-white, Smart, or disabled are not choices, but living my life as I choose is. Beyond all that we are alive right here and now and can make your own life and set a course for our own destinies.

Want an Asian traveling companion, who is fed up with his life of monotony and longs for adventure, intrigue, and suspense that he had in his early 20's We could be like Hirschfeld and Ling Matt, I know the feeling, I like to think of myself as a well traveled soul, I've been in the halls of power, help make laws, help break laws, fought for what I believed was right and defend things I disagree with personally, and lived a middle class quiet existence. I am nearing 30, my life is long from being over, but I can feel the age of responsibility now on my back, too. My best advice, don't just stick to one area if you want to expand your horizon, if you like teaching, why not attempt adult training instead of childhood education. It's not just physical therapy, there's people and schools out there that teaches disabled people how to live without eyes, ears, and limbs in normal workplaces. Some of it is technical education with new equipment/software, other is cognitive education with advanced techniques like using vibration or mental associations with concepts. I had to open up my old calculus book again, damn I wish I had this in high school and college, it combines my old teenage fondness of Adele and Math:

Jurassic Park, plus its ripoffs It's good science though, we could eventually repopulate a lot of extinct species or even pierce the veil of mortality itself with these experiments. As I said, what mankind ultimately wants to achieve is probably akin to a state immortality or even mythic god-like abilities like a Greek fable. It is not a matter of if we can do it, but rather a question of how soon and should we do it? Based on the last few centuries, I don't know if we are mature enough to hold such power yet. A Mammoth hybrid in two years, a genetically perfect child in 10 years, and who knows what else. The future is not too far ahead of us and we should all be able to see what will come about that was once only science fiction.
