  5. You think I get out of bed in the morning? Have you looked at when I post most of my Comments? My depression keeps me awake very late and I sleep in even later! ;–)
  6. The pet of the king of the aliens who lived in a beautiful, clear, blue-green eddy of a meandering creek, of course! ;–)
  7. Natasha was part of a rescue operation for the fish, of course! ;–)
  8. Was the fish trying to contact Natasha? Is the fish the larval form of the Martians? Was the realignment of the reeds and other items the reason why the lightning struck Natasha? Was Dimitri the fisherman? ;–)
  9. Cole, are you unusually tall with a secret talent? ;–)
  10. Isn’t it likely that a concrete statue would have rebar reinforcing its structure? Is it possible that the rebar was closer to the surface near the eyes? There are scientific (if unlikely) explanations for phenomena like that. ;–) Besides, an alternative interpretation is that the statue would be offended if it could see what was occurring during the secret mission. ;–)

The alien wasn’t particularly good at researching humans and their motivations… ;–)

    A Fishy Prompt

I’d be wondering something more critical: are alien fish edible? ;–)

    A Fishy Prompt

Well, if they do any research, they’ll discover that some of us (me in particular) don’t eat fish! An alien species advanced enough to have space travel should be able to figure out which ones of us have consumed seafood in the last 40+ years. I am ready for our new piscean overlords. ;–)
  19. That hike would be a nightmare for me. Just the fact of a hike is bad enough. But the heat, humidity, and the mosquitoes only intensify the horror! Heat, humidity, and mosquitoes are annual events. Hurricanes are a common disaster – even if you aren’t directly under the storm, there is that torrent of rain and wind. Earthquakes are uncommon, occurring once every several decades (at most and on different faultlines). Wildfires are more dangerous in certain areas. My choices are logical and rational. ;–)

Well it certainly wasn’t directed by James Cameron! He would have dragged out the conclusion with several false endings and misdirections. And then announce a sequel or three. ;–)

    Recovery

I don’t know about Eddie, but when my father was in the hospital the night before his quintuple bypass surgery, we laughed when somebody realized that when he was waving his arms over his head his johnny was wide open in back! Of course, my father’s hospital room was up many stories in a tower and we were in the parking lot on the ground level. It sounds like Eddie’s room is only a couple floors up. I remember when my grandmother was in the hospital, they gave her a second johnny to wear backwards. The nurses noticed that she was just walking around, not worrying about the opening. Not that anyone wanted to see that. ;–)

I did one of those too. I’m not sure who else was marching, but it was a powerfully emotional event. (It must have been in the early Nineties because of who I went with.) But my candle kept blowing out because it’s very windy along Market St! ;–)

Fairytales were constructed to teach young people how they should behave by those who had an incentive to perpetuate the existing societal structure, sometimes emphasizing the merits of remaining in your social class. People, especially outsiders, were punished for violating social rules. And others were rewarded for following the rules. European and East Asian societies were patriarchal, so the fairytales reflected that bias.
  24. Back in the Seventies, we used to use regular, uncooked bacon and we broiled the hotdogs to cook the bacon. ;–) Another tasty, but not terribly healthy hotdog meal involved slicing the wieners diagonally and cooking them in a mixture of sweetened soy sauce. Kind of a shortcut teriyaki. Naturally, we ate it with steamed white rice. ;–)
  25. Because Aidan is so insecure, it is much more important for him to know that things like promotions were honestly earned.
