I think A’Dore, Blethos, and Creid need to send Ambassadors to these various tribes to establish more formal relationships. If they had better contacts, the A/B/C alliance might have gotten warnings of the events that led to the attacks. It doesn’t sound like most of the tribes are hostile to A/B/C and diplomatic efforts could keep tensions from building to the point where there’s armed conflict. Some of those tribes might have medical technology (ie herbal treatments) that could be useful to the others. Trade could improve the lives across the continent. We know that Native Americans traded goods across hundreds of miles long before Europeans arrived. There is even evidence of trade across the Bering Strait from China to Alaska. We like to think that trade is something that nobody did before the European ships arrived. ;–)

Did Ezra sleep with Adam’s sister to ‘prove’ his masculinity after being in a relationship with Adam? There would be intense pressure for Ezra to ‘be straight’ in small town Texas. And a sister might seem like a logical alternative to Adam with apparently many similarities between the siblings. ;–)

Stalker! I don’t think Ezra ‘accidentally’ ran into Artie in the park. I think he had Adam & Artie investigated.
  7. The Children of Lilith certainly bend a lot of rules! ;–) If Demetrius is going to magically conjure up a bathroom out in the wilderness, why not make it a locker room with several showers or tubs and definitely multiple toilets and sinks? Or just magically banish the dirt, sweat, grime, and muscle aches? And what about a masseur and a massage table plus a sauna? ;–)

Wrong coast. California’s Wine Country has Geyserville with its geysers, hot springs, and steam vents. California has several internationally renown AVAs that produce wines that have beaten European wines! ;–)

Knowing ‘Reric’, I know that the cousins will figure out something at a critical point that will be extremely useful and important – it will be something that none of the adults would ever think of! ‘Reric’ isn’t evil enough to come up with a demented plot twist like one or two other GA writers. He isn’t devious enough to upend the story arc a few chapters before the climax of a story just because ‘he could.’ ;–) The unnamed author grew up a few states north of where ‘Reric’ grew up, also in a small rural town. ;–)

  15. Robbie feels more comfortable being with someone who tells him what to do. Alex certainly went furthest with this, but Fran, Nathan, and even to a certain extent Tom guided their respective relationships with Robbie. Conner is a nice guy, but he’s not the dominant type that Robbie seems drawn to (even if he’s not willing to admit it). ;–) I, on the other hand, am well aware that I’d prefer to be with someone that gently guides me without seeming to be telling me what to do. When I feel like I’m being dictated to, I get passive-aggressive. It’s not healthy and it’s usually counter-productive, so it’s a good thing I haven’t been in a relationship in over two decades! ;–)
  16. How interesting that, by extension, Robbie compared his mother to the Ladies of the Evening! ;–) I think that Robbie feels inherent comfort in Jo due to her resemblance to women he knew in London. Jo is so totally different from the women Robbie has been interacting with in Coburn. Her appearance as well as attitude are a welcome reminder of his past. Robbie is still fundamentally a brash, rude Brit, not a nice, polite Canadian. ;–)
  17. One untapped source of employees would be ex-cons (parolees and those on probation). A business that is willing to take the chance on people most other employers won’t even interview will have access to some hard working and loyal employees. Naturally, there will be a few bad apples, but arbitrarily rejecting ex-cons won’t guarantee perfect workers either – theoretically, anyone who has served their time has fulfilled their debt to society, but that’s not what happens in the real world.

I just got home. I got lucky with most of my connections and got home sooner than I expected. ;–) There were some really interesting movies, some very puzzling movies, and a few stinkers. About average so far. Except for the puzzling part. Two of the evening movies weren’t as linear as I prefer – there were aspects that were never explained (which frustrates me to no end!). ;–) I caught up with a few of the friends I only see at the festival, but was surprised not to see others. ;–)

Maybe Andy & Adam can take Eric to his first Pride event! I know in San Francisco, there is a (wheeled) ‘cable car’ that is hired to ride down the parade route with seniors on board. I think it’s the SAGE (Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders, formerly Senior Action in a Gay Environment) contingent. There are other seniors among the participants in other contingents and viewing along the route. People are often interviewed on TV who have travelled hundreds, if not thousands, of miles to attend SF Pride. In some cases, it’s the first time they’ve been surrounded by LGBTQ+s and allies! I’ll be celebrating Pride beginning this afternoon when I attend my first programs of Frameline43. I’ll meet up with friends I only see at the film festival every year. The afternoon screenings tend to be an older crowd because the young people are all at work! ;–)

  22. Either they are amazing at planning, they intentionally create demand by making fewer donuts than they know they can sell, or they had an especially busy day! Most retailers would have more product available even at the end of the day just to maximize sales. On the other hand, there are some that will artificially create demand by running out of product before the day ends – this makes last-minute customers more eager to show up earlier in the day so they have a better chance of getting what they really want. Considering the number of employees, those must be incredibly expensive donuts to cover their high cost of doing business in San Francisco. Rent is extremely high in San Francisco (forcing even some popular businesses to close due to impossibly high rent increases or because the landlord chooses to rent to tech companies at much higher prices). Labor costs are high due to the difficulty finding employees who can afford to live in the area – some popular businesses have closed because they can’t find enough workers, no matter how much they pay.
  23. Just a typical Texan, breaking rules that everyone else agreed to. Artie should know better than to go along with what Ezra wants when everyone else points out the problems. Did Artie let everyone walk all over him back in Texas?
