  1. One of my absolute favorite quotes. I can still remember bringing it up in a conversation I had with a Berkeley professor about keeping an open mind on controversial subjects, and he ridiculing the quote strenuously, opposing Schopenhauer's idea itself! We were talking abt academic careers crushed by fellow academics not satisfied in disputing theories, but in impugning the sanity of the professionals advancing new discoveries. Specifically, I mentioned the ruined career of Alfred Wegener, the geologist who proposed a plate tectonic subduction zone in the Pacific, and a corresponding expansion zone in the Atlantic. He was ruthlessly ridiculed and ruined, only to have this theories treated as obvious once accurate ocean-floor mapping was possible in the 1950s. Wegener's case is just one of dozens littering the floor of "turf-based" academics.
  2. I have used it as a subject, in a short story posted here called "Suffer No Fools" - a skeptic gets an astrological reading as a birthday present from his aunt, and both the young man and the professional Astrologer come in for a surprise

    Chapter 34

Yes a great story and I love the talent of the writer to convey his message with so much emotion but it's spoiled by not having just the slightest bit continuity. I'm sure he is a busy guy but 6 months between chapter 33 and 34. Already 2 months since 34 was posted. There are a bunch of ways to end the story the easiest is Zack's mom gets to read the manuscript. She asks him and he comes clean. Dad goes to jail. Zack goes into therapy marries Broady and has lift long friends in Adam & Sam. Comicality for sure would tell it better but I hate incomplete.

    Separate

Talon's backstory is so heartbreaking. To lose both parents and then to be ostracized, bullied, and tortured that way!! He is a better man than I am because I would have definitely amputated Mallex's arm in a way no magic could ever repair it! Fingers crossed that Eon means what he says in support of Kalian...but what I really wanna see is Eon put Mallex in his place (pretty please). Another superb (and quickly updated) chapter. Can't wait for the next installment.

    Lesson

Great strides for Kalian! Mallex is such a power-hungry tool. He definitely doesn't deserve a year much less any time to "be better" but I suspect this is Kalian formulating a plan of escape for himself. Also, in my mind Talon looks like Adam Driver (hottie) so I'm all for him 100%
  18. It's so true; you need Italians to perform Italian music 😜 (differing opinions may be sent, in writing, in triplicate to, your mamma.) lol Guido Rimonda and Cristina Canziani perform the second movement from Viotti's Concertante for piano and violin.
  19. jeez don't encourage the 2nd book. I've been trying to see the end of this one for over a year. For sure our boy is a great talent and story teller. I know how hard it is to stay on point. But this work has been years in the making. If he sidetracks to a sequel it may never get done.
  20. I love the story Robbie Nathan Danny even Nicole and all the gang. I am so happy to hear it might actually have an ending. Quite possible the guy in the car was a cop trying to get more evidence on Nathan. Just weird that who ever left the car in the rain and disappeared. I'll keep checking back as it occurs to me.
  21. A version of Purcell. Annie Lennox and the London City Voices perform "Dido's Lament" socially distanced
