    Chapter 53

After the initial shock of finding out that David is now with Sasha, the fact that Sasha is a genuinely nice guy will make it easier for the rest of the MacKenzies to accept the reality of David’s life. Alik will greatly accelerate that acceptance – we are wired to want love and take care of babies and children. (Too bad that doesn’t always extend to other adults around the world who need our help. It seems some people have incomplete empathy.)
  2. Ray Kroc once owned the San Diego Padres (1974-84). The year he bought them, they lost 102 games. He died in January of the year the Padres won the ‘World Series.’

    The Spaces

I was amused to see a couple edit suggestions still hanging around and I noticed a ‘loose’ where you meant ‘lose.’ Since California is generally a dry place, I never really think about how succulent plants might not be common knowledge everywhere. It’s funny to think that something so ubiquitous in one place might be exotic somewhere else! Succulents and mediterranean-climate plants make a whole lot more sense here than trying to replicate the look of a northern European lawn and garden in a semi-arid, drought-prone region. Micheal and Ian have a very odd dynamic going on…

    Chapter 7

Why do I have the feeling that Parker’s ‘something bad on the horizon’ is Alek? You still have time to include the ‘naked Liam & Nathan’ scene were they go exploring the basement in the middle of a thunderstorm and power outage because they heard a thump or a crash… Do Liam and Nathan watch scary movies together? ;-)

    Chapter 1

I guess I’m oblivious, but I just figured Kevin’s dad was tinkering with computers in his office. I used to work in a computer store and I knew guys who were always playing around with their computer hardware and software. I never imagined he was TBG! ;-) My dad was busy with work all the time as a Protestant minister. We lived in various parsonages as I grew up and it was like living in a rental. While we weren’t supposed to do anything to damage the houses, we were kids and did little things that we shouldn’t have. But our home was never a museum, we lived in all the rooms!

Interesting development. Going back studying seems a good idea! I am all for it.

Well Wally has to survive. If he doesn’t, we’ll only find out his real name at his memorial service (burial at sea, of course) and we’ll never see a resolution to his redemption arc. The story would have too abrupt an ending. Parker would never do that to us! He’s not that mean of an author. ;-) Now, some authors would leave him horribly damaged and in need of serious medical attention. With Parker, that’s a possibility, but I don’t think it’s too likely. But some injury is likely – but Parker isn’t the sort of author who would let Wally survive completely unscathed either. (Timothy M isn’t the only one who can make predictions.)
  8. It looks like the Football team just walked into the trap the Gymnasts set. Dumb football players might be a stereotype, but we keep hearing about the stupid antics and criminal behavior displayed by NFL players all too often. Too many schools allow them to continually get away with things and they feel even more empowered to misbehave as professional athletes.
  9. I think I’m goofy brained… ;-)
  10. I know I have heard recordings of this music before, but none of them really captured my fancy. Here the blend of Stephen Hough at the piano with Bryden Thomas leading the English Chamber Orchestra is powerful and tasteful! Something about Hough's amazing playing makes me want to turn caveman and talk about his 'force and manliness.' The section between mins. 7:19~8:40 should show you what I mean. Please enjoy. Hummel Piano Concerto No 2 in A Minor, 1816 Stephen Hough, piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSYS2YzpNR4
  11. I’d been to the Pendulum twice, which makes it one of the Castro bars I’d been in the most. The first episode, Part One, is hiding online if you know how to access it…
  12. ...I liked the Pendulum.... It was fun I have my DVR set to record the series. Thanks for the heads up; I might have missed this otherwise

    Chapter 41

“Anyway,” Demetrius turned back to Seth. “It’s not like ? says anything in words. I just…know.” There’s a missing noun where I put the question mark. “If it’s very dangerous, which it might be. I’ll see you have what is needed to defeat her.” That should a comma between two halves of a single sentence. I think I’d enjoy you’re company.” Your, not you are. What ReaderPaul noticed goes along with Demetrius’ own comment that suggests he is bisexual.
  14. So I switched to CBS to start watching NCIS. And the first thing I see is four ads for SUVs followed by a car ad. Jeep, MB GLC Coupe, Ford (Escape?), Audi Q5, and Jaguar – who apparently didn’t get the memo! NCIS viewers must be a highly desirable bunch. Other than me, of course.
  15. Variety’s critics of bad wigs and CGI stem from the relative low budget for such a massive undertaking. In places like the Castro, People of Color are marginalized. ‘The’ Black bar closed a few years ago. ‘The’ Latino bar is outside the Castro in the Mission. ‘The’ Asian bar (really a bar for white men who like effeminate, young Asian men in drag) is in the Tenderloin. In general, the Castro is at least somewhat hostile to people who are not thin or muscular, young, pretty white men. The miniseries touches on a young Carole Migden running for the SF Board of Supervisors. There is a documentary about the four Lesbians who were in the California Assembly at the same time explaining the strategies and tactics they used to get bills passed. Political Animals was shown at Frameline40. The fight for Marriage Equality was also featured. A much more detailed account was shown in the documentary, Freedom to Marry, which focused on Evan Wolfson who led the organization that hired the lawyers who successfully argued the case in SCOTUS. This was also shown at Frameline40. Anyone who has seen Milk and wants a much broader background can get greater context from this miniseries.
  16. I just got to see a preview of the miniseries, When We Rise, that will be airing on ABC in the US (and Canada?) starting on Monday, February 27. (It will be preempted on the 28th, but will return on March 1st through 3rd.) Running time is approximately 8 hours total. Wikipedia IMDB It is a powerful story that reminds me of what it was like watching Roots way back in the ‘70s. It’s got an amazing cast with plenty of very well-known actors appearing. There were quite a few who surprised me because it took me a little while to realize just who they were! And one who shocked me – just because she appeared in this at all: Phylicia Rashad! (Aussies Guy Pearce and Rachel Griffiths have very prominent roles!) We are taken on a journey through the history of the Gay Rights Movement with the struggles against the police and other authorities, HIV/AIDS, our increasing involvement in politics, the lawsuit against Prop 8, and the eventual SCOTUS ruling legalizing Same-Sex Marriage in all 50 States and all US Territories (except American Samoa and not on Indian lands) and overturning DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). I highly recommend watching this – tell all your friends about it! (As usual, check your local listings.) Uncle Walt is rolling over in his grave! ;-)
  17. Great chapter! It is touching how Arthur reacts. Must be hard to have lost so many years, makes this strong reaction logical. The waking up and wanting to stand up, reminded me so much on my last op. It sucks, when your body refuse to behave. I so feel with Arthur. I although love the image of the color patterns, like an aura. Useful for the healing and pretty :-) .

    For Mum

Oh tim, this is such a soulful poem. I am sure, that your mum still loves you. This loving energy can not be lost in the universe. The physic`s principal of energy conversation tells us so. But I see the yearning and sadness and if you want to listening ear, I offer one. Hug you Lyssa

    Chapter 52

I frowned. “But like having you here, Sasha.” I think there’s a missing pronoun there. Unless you were making some sort of comparison… I’m not sure why Tony thinks Italians are more like Turks than Greeks, but I do have a Turkish uncle and two Italian cousins. My Lesbian(?) Aunt’s ‘roommate’ was Italian/German. But no Greek relatives. And I still remember the map of Greece in My Big Fat Greek Wedding where Turkey was X’ed out!
  20. I think the name is the Judy and Josh Weston Foundation or something like that… But I don’t think pornJosh's career was that lucrative. Producers used to make all the money, but apparently no one makes much money due to all the tube sites. (The owner of a large number of tube sites also owns several porn studios. I have the feeing someone is going to need to make a paradigm shift to something entirely new for anyone to make money on porn again, if that ever does happen. Commercial porn may only have had a 50-60 year run.)
  21. Could be the porn guy...?

    Confession

It feels like their relationship is accelerating fast to a cliff. They're getting too close to the edge to detour to a longer path with a greater chance for a future together. They can’t see the possibility of their relationship lasting longer than a few more days, but they can’t stop long enough to look around at the possibilities. Tunnel vision.
  23. Every time I see the PBS Newshour’s underwriters list, I see Josh Weston’s Foundation. My brain immediately jumps to the Gay porn actor! I’m sure the guy gets confused with the actor – especially on Google! It makes me wonder if the, I assume, nom de porn was chosen specifically because of the guy with the Foundation. Maybe a relative or disgruntled employee?
  24. yes, I think we all feel snagged by the forces wanting to pull us down, or drag us back to nihility - that is uncaring Nature's way. It's our human heat against the universe, and the good fight is just to live the time we have, thumbing our nose at the fate waiting us all. Thanks for sharing a fine poem with us
  25. How ironic that Adobe’s proprietary Flash software has wasted so many ticks of a computer’s system clock.
