Is a futon really the most appropriate bed for someone who lost a leg? I would think that it’s much too low to be easy to get in and out of even with grab bars nearby. I hope they built a platform that raises the whole futon to a more reasonable height. Of course, a traditional Japanese Futon would be even worse for Orson since they are basically mats that are placed directly on the floor!

So now we have to worry about mystery writers who are secretly murderers? Malachi was a serial killer, but was harmless to anyone who didn’t deal with him intimately. I’d have thought that Dwight’s predecessors would have been more suspicious about how previous workers disappeared abruptly. ;–)

Too bad Max or Pacha can’t create a prosthetic for Orson (it would probably have built-in sensors that would interact with his nervous system and muscles). ;–)

I am overwhelmed by how much was contained in this one chapter! Mood globes. Emotion intensifying eggs. More hints about hidden talents that the boys will eventually develop! ;–)

In Clay’s defense (and not because I condone his words and actions), Clay has been stressed packing up and moving not only all of Mason’s and his own stuff, but also Orson’s as well. I’m sure he’s been worried about his new partner’s recovery and mental state as they drove from Alabama. He’s had a lot thrown at him all at once. I don’t know how much Orson has been told about Jeremy. But fresh eyes might be able to help Clay deal with how Mason & Jeremy’s relationship has evolved. It might help Orson to think beyond his own issues, if only a bit. ;–)

Does Freddie identify with domestic abuse victims because he is one? Scars are always concerning. Obviously, they can be caused by accidents, but those kinds of scars are rarely pointed out by authors. Maybe Beth can have Aaron make two sets of the marionette parts and Rick can build a second, simplified version to give to Gabby as a birthday gift. Freddie can record his music and give Gabby a CD to accompany it. Along with the inevitable video, they will make the memorable birthday party something that will last. ;–)

What? No Skwish? I think I’d be calling Max to bring a magic air freshener! ;–) While the monster stinks and looks scary, it hasn’t actually been threatening. It politely knocked to get the boys to open the door and waited for Kippy to give it the ring. I think the monster is seeking help from the gang.

Insecure, low self-esteem government employees tend to abuse their limited power against those they deal with. DMV workers are a good example (eg Patty & Selma on The Simpsons). Dirty cops is another (Oakland’s Riders is a prime example).
