That’s especially common with men who choose butch careers like police (and other first responders) or the military that are thought of as being traditionally masculine.

It wouldn’t be something I’d be interested in doing myself. But what if a Richard Hatch-type wanted to walk around the campgrounds naked? Just wondering for a ‘friend.’ ;–)

Depressed, insecure, low self-esteem cop. Hmmm. Really bad combination. Which target group is he taking his frustrations out on? Gang members? Suspected drug dealers? Jaywalkers? Skateboarders? People of Color? Visible religious minorities? Homeless people? I see a class action lawsuit!

Not being Filipino or having otherwise grown up eating it, I cannot overlook that one critical ingredient! Besides one of my Filipino friends was the one who told me about what it was made of and how she wouldn’t eat it! But then again, she was a Filipina Princess who never filled her own gas tank (either her father or her first boyfriend [who was Filipino] filled it) – until her dream boyfriend, a USMC officer taught her how to do it! Naturally, she married the officer (but she still relied on her parent’s financially subsidies for her very expensive shopping habit long after he had retired from the Corp and moved onto a more lucrative government job). I doubt it was a very happy marriage. Her tastes were more appropriate for a multi-millionaire than a mere Marine Corp officer could support. She got her dream wedding with a bunch of Marine officers in Dress Whites. He looked the part, tall, handsome, and white with blue eyes. She had done some modeling before I worked with her in the Jewelry Department of a low-end department store. If she weren’t at least nominally a Catholic, she’d have divorced him and gone after someone much wealthy! ;–) I was there when a mutual friend convinced him to have ice cream while watching a movie with mutual, Princess, and me. We had just watched the movie when he called, but he wasn’t told and we had to get ice cream (which we’d already had while watching the movie) and we watched the movie all over again. I was there for one of their dates (along with several other of her friends) at the Tonga Room, an expensive restaurant with rather ordinary Chinese food at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco (probably her dream date). I was there for her engagement party (also with those same friends of hers). And I was there for her dream wedding held at the chapel in the Presidio with the reception at the Presidio Officer’s Club (before the Presidio was turned over to the National Park System). The officer’s name was Dahl. Too bad her parents didn’t name the Princess a more appropriate name: Barbie! She was smart enough to have attended UC Berkeley, but somehow never managed to conceive of a husband and wedding set in the real world. ;–)

If the hell-hounds had been Weimaraners, they could have been blue-gray… ;–) -
I knew there’d be something that would place the two guys into the same house. I’m guessing that the parents will think nothing of suggesting they should share the same room and bed. There will be some excuse such as other relatives who need Beth’s room. I’m thinking if there were a guest room, they would have put Rick there in the first place. ;–) Are vegan burgers another Filipino delicacy? I’m surprised they aren’t preparing ‘Chocolate’ Meat – which, when I was told of its ingredients, I swore I’d never even taste! Or they could have gone with a much more popular choice: Chicken Adobo.

Paul was a misogynist. The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was in-hospitability.

East Bay MUD (Municipal Utility District – my water supplier) has just started installing flexible water supply pipes in the East Bay Hills. This is critical because the pipelines supply water to the whole system from the source in the Sacramento Delta. There are several reservoirs in the hills themselves that can supply potable water if the source is disrupted for a short time (weeks?), but won’t be enough if the levees in the Delta fail (a very real danger that could be caused by floods or earthquakes). Simply burying power lines will not solve all the problems. There have been explosions in buried vaults in San Francisco that contain power transformers. Of course, those were ‘maintained’ by PG&E too, so the problem might be more PG&E than the technology. I know the flexible water pipes were first developed in Japan. I’m wondering how they deal with the power transmission line issue. Or New Zealand, another country greatly affected by earthquakes. Last night was very windy and it was coming from the Kincade Fire area, so I had trouble sleeping. The winds died down by daylight, as did the smoke smell. But our air is very dirty anyway and I can still feel it in my eyes.
-
Did PG&E turn your power back on? I suppose experts will soon be warning us that if all the power lines are buried, then they’ll be more vulnerable in an earthquake! :–(

Will those berry brambles grow back again? Will Mason be hacking them back every year? Will they make jam, berry pies, and other berry desserts? Will Greg turn them into some form of unusual alcohol? Will Greg end up in AA or rehab? ;–)

This is one of the few times when AT&T has an advantage over other ISPs since wired phone companies have to have backup power for their phone lines. During the last set of outages, there were news reports of people (who hadn’t lost power) losing cable and internet connections because Comcast’s equipment was located in a block that was shut off by PG&E. I have my DSL modem and router plugged into a UPS so I still have my internet connection during short power outages. I’m trying to save up for a larger UPS that can add an auxiliary battery to triple the time I can be on.

Don’t Kiss Other Boys

April should know that straight boys do not usually go around kissing other boys. Boys are never sexually secure. Not-quite-straight boys, bisexual boys, and Gay boys make out with other boys. Only very secure straight men French kiss with other men. ;–) Jett is not so sexually secure that he would feel comfortable initiating French kisses with other men unless he were not as straight as April wants to convince himself he is. ;–) -

I especially liked this line! ;–) -
It’s really windy here in the Bay Area near the Bay, but it’s much worse in the area by the fire. Since I live in the flatlands, something like a major transmission line would have to go down for my power to be shutdown. I am not projected to lose my power – this time. Sorry your power is down, Wayne (I almost called you ‘Greg.’). Thanks, PG&E, for putting your shareholders ahead of safety, routine maintenance, and your customers! At least one expert interviewed for the news suggested that if PG&E were a person rather than a corporation, it would be in jail right now. I don’t get why the (previous) CEO and board members are not being charged with negligence! PG&E should be broken up and sold to local jurisdictions like cities, counties, and the state (the transmission lines).

I think a bakery in a bigger city would be more resistant to just custom baking something they’ve never made before. I don’t remember what it tasted like anymore (after close to forty years), but there was a cake that a Filipino friend said was available from a Daly City bakery – I would have thought that cake would be more of a book club-type treat. I know there's a small bakery in San José’s Japantown makes a great guava chiffon cake… ;–)

Getting Through It All

Some of those children aren’t physically mature enough to handle pregnancy and it causes medical issues for them. Allowing your young daughter to be married off to an old man for influential or financial gain is child abuse. Attempting to impregnate a child is rape even if your culture allows you to do so. Misogynistic societies prevent girls and women from getting an education to keep old men in power. Diverting funding for schools is the first step in that direction. Using public funds for religious schools in a secular society should be illegal and prohibited. Diluting news programs with entertainment fluff (I’m looking at you Disney ABC, always shilling the latest Pixar, Marvel, or Lucas Film projects during the local ABC news and Nightline!) takes away critical time for serious information that informed voters need. Letting Mark Zuckerberg decide what you need to know allows intentionally falsified information (aka lies) to overwhelm actual facts. -
From the comments, it sometimes seems like half of the readers have already read this story. But you’re not alone, I am also reading it for the first time. Wayne seems to like rural settings for his stories (at least with the three of the four stories I’ve read or sampled). At some point, you’ll want to read Guarded as well, since Wayne says there’s a connection between these two stories (as well as a yet-to-be-posted-on-GA story). I also recommend Wayne’s unrelated Bluegrass Symphony, set in rural Kentucky. I’m not a fan of the genre, so I only sampled Silverwolf; Fleeting Eternity also didn’t appeal to me, but others enjoyed both of them.

Getting Through It All

Well if Matty marries Eddie, Eddie can become a minister without having to struggle with finances. Eddie could become an associate pastor and assist his father as much or as little as he wishes. He can help people without needing to deal with all the extra stuff ministers do that their parishioners have no clue they end up doing (like replacing window glass when thieves break into the church, picking up and hosting missionaries & other church visitors, and attending nearly every meeting held at the church). Or he could attend seminary, but just volunteer his services whenever he feels like doing so… ;–) -
It sounds a third party was closeted and caused problems for Freddie and his ex… ;–)
