Trust those many things to go wrong for you, given how I've been saying how good it is. But yeah, if you're having those many problems, then it's clear that some more time is needed to weed out the bugs and polish it off. In related news, 84% of IT pros don't intend on upgrading to Windows 7 in the next year. I think I can see why.

Don't rush it! Savour every minute! Little blip? Which 'little blip' would that be? No, they seem to be doing rather well with removing the bugs (from what I've heard), so build 7070 should be quite nice. I agree, it should only really be used in a professional setting, once MS have ironed out all the bugs. Saying that, I think the release version of Win7 will be their most stable one yet. I still doubt many business will rush to 7, unless they're on Vista, where it would be a much recommended upgrade.

It has risen, now to at least 90 dead and 1,500 injured. It's completely tragic. I'm sure it's very chaotic there at the moment, once more aid arrives and things settle down some, they should be able to get a call out. It's always nice when countries come together in a time of need. Let us hope they act quickly to save more lives.

It boots fine and runs great, but at any given moment, regardless of what I was doing, it displays the BSOD. Not the best thing to happen when typing up a chapter, I can tell you. System restore seemed to be disabled (possibly because the partition was too small?), so I can't roll back. It doesn't really matter though as I'm going to wait for the Release Candidate which should be released in May, according to MS. Before I installed the driver it was working fine, so it was likely a conflict with my hardware. (Hopefully something they will fix) But with my problem aside, many people haven't had a single problem with it. Leo Laporte (twit.tv) says it's good to ship. Now. Some tech site did say that you could torrent the file, but make sure that you use a legitimate license key from Microsoft. However I'm not certain about the exact legality of doing this so I can't recommend it. Would that be the 7068 build? I believe it's the latest one.

It's NEVER safe to use those words! But in all seriousness, I've heard people make similar comments about Vista. They all say that while it had it's many teething problems, it's shaped up to be quite an OS. I've never used it since it's release so I can't comment on that. Now Windows 7, that's an OS to be proud of! In fact, it's the only thing that's making me hesitate buying a Mac as my next computer. ------------- I should also mention here that I haven't used Win 7 since January, the reason being that I keep getting a BSOD (AFriendly is scratching his head). It only started to happen after Win Update installed a driver for my card reader. I've tinkered with it but no luck. So now I'm back to XP. With a 15GB Win 7 partition sitting there looking pretty.

Hi Tyler_4, Sometimes, although it's more about sticking to a release schedule, rather than forcing myself to sit down and start typing. I am a firm believer that you will achieve better work in less time if you are comfortable about writing in the first place. Try not to force yourself too much. If you want to continue the story, that's fine, but don't turn it into a chore. If it feels like a chore to you, then readers might pick up on your frustration. Not a good thing. As for the fan following, that is something that will develop over time, but even if you're at the top, YOU are the author. You decide when to release the chapters and only when you are ready. Most readers will patiently wait for you. Not sure about the 'muscling' part but to change your group, send a message to Joe(JSmith) and ask him to kindly change your group to authors. The download isn't available but the licence keys are. If you can get hold of the disc or the .iso, then you're set. Hehehe, no chance. He uses a Mac. Running Linux.

They're still giving away licence keys, so if you can get hold of the disk or burn the iso, then you can input a new key belonging to you. Either way, they should be releasing the release candidate soon, and that's going public too.

Give it a try. It's quite usable and much better than Vista.

It is good to listen to songs while you're at a computer, but like I said, you can't take them with you. Saying that, they are apparently working on an iPhone app, although I'm not sure if Apple would allow that kind of service... I've checked my account for you guys, but I don't seem to have any invites. I'll keep checking from time to time.

That's understandable. That's why a generalised method of recognition might work better. That way they'd be acknowledged for what they do, but not in a personal sense. Looking at the results to the poll, they all seem to be quite even, with perhaps a few more people suggesting that we should do more. But again, that brings the question of what to do.

I agree, it's also what makes it difficult to get people to acknowledge them. That's why it would benefit people the most if there was some type of recognition done here, on GA, as many users are aware of who the editors are. Great! Now we just need someone to come up with a suitable idea that would work. Anyone?

Heya, Recently I've been thinking of ideas to rectify the above problem, but it was when I came across this post by Talon, did I really spring to action. Some authors on GA are privileged to have a writing team behind them. Whether that's an editor, a beta reader or even a consultant. Now the problem begins when some authors neglect to mention the work undertaken by the rest of the team. This goes against what I believe in. Everyone throughout the writing process, no matter how small their input, should be recognised, publicly. If you're a good author, you may be thinking, "Well, I do thank my team in each of my chapters. What else can I do?" You're right, this can be a problem, even for me. While I'd love to begin each chapter with a message about how hard my editor has had to sieve through my words to make them shine, in reality I can't. Why? Well the reader wants to read the story, not a dedication plaque. So what do we do? As you may have guessed, I think I have a solution. We take one month out of the year and call it the: Team Recognition Month (or similar) It doesn't even have to be large. As long as it gives us (authors, writers AND readers) the opportunity to publicly list and thank these great people, I'd call that an accomplishment. I know that CJ made an award for the editors and one for the beta readers, but for obvious reasons, there can be no one person who can win that. As a side note, how many of you looked at those awards and thought, "Yeah, thank you (authors name) team!" ? Huh? Not many, I'm sure. What are your thoughts/opinions on this? I'd like to know what you think, especially from any authors, as it is our responsibility.
