You promised an extravagant memorial planned by Brad and delivered. Playing Robbie's last conversation was melodramatic. Great job!

Baseball is full of statistics and the more telling one is that most true fans love them! Cards win 4-2 and tie the series 1-1. Now it heads back to St. Louis with game 3 Saturday night at 8:07 Eastern!

And why would you when you spend most of your days locked up with adolescents?

Not that anyone here on GA is in the same league as W.S. or T. A. But Zombie's point is well taken as well as most of the others who have contributed. Censorship is a reality in some parts of the world. It is appropriate in some venues depending on the target audience and it is tolerated even here at GA which does have some limits as well. Having said that, the point is that human beings can be terrifyingly evil and supremely self-sacrificing. Welcome to the real world.

I am used to fans around the country underestimating the Cards. The Bucs and Dodgers were both favored. It's a 7 game series and takes 4 to win. I think there is a lot more to play. GO CARDS!

Congrats to the Boston Red Sox for convincingly winning Game 1 of the MLB World Series. Getting to Wainwright early and then the sloppy defensive plays of the Cards was the difference. Fenway is not your ordinary venue, that is for sure.

Incest is a difficult topic. If you are talking pedophilia incest between a parent and a young child, that is offensive to a majority. Oedipus Rex by Sophocles was unknowing incest which was tragic in its consequences and is still studied as a classic. Incest between consenting adults is another story entirely. Incest between experimenting adolescent siblings of similar age has happened from time immemorial. So I think that if an author has a compelling story that involves incest and handles it wisely, it can be acceptable and have a following. If it's just for sensationalism as a taboo, it's like gratuitous sex or excessive cussing/cursing in any story and becomes banal. Most mainstream readers don't usually follow gay stories. Brokeback Mountain was perhaps an exception that proved the rule. So why worry too much of how mainstream reviewers would react. Gay romance novels are a niche. If that can be set in a fantasy or Sci-Fi setting as well, all the better as for as this niche reader is concerned.

While Mark does like to tidy things up, he sometimes does like to leave a few stray points hanging, only to reveal the import in a latter book in the saga. Somehow, the whole thing with MaryEllen knowing Wade was sexually abused strikes me as something that we may not find a resolution to in the 9.11 story line. But then that is just my guess.

The world is a much smaller place than it was 109 years ago when they first started calling it the World Series. In addition the major leagues do have players from about 20 different countries, notably from Latin America, Japan and Korea. And let's not forget Canada which also has a franchise.

Well no one can say this forum is boring, staid, or too prim and prissy! Snarky indeed. But to get back to Ethan, I think he will be a refreshing distraction to offset some of the somberness of the memorial for Robbie and the renewed sense of loss that event will bring home to everyone.

Mickey's drink reminded me that I started with 7&7 as my drink. (Seagram's 7 and 7-UP) way back in the mid sixties. Now I like a bottle of wine with my meals and it varies depending on what we eat. For just knocking back, it's a Bud Light or Busch beer.

The illusion of privacy is fast fading on-line and everywhere else in our society. Being tracked, means you are being analyzed and pigeon-holed. All so that someone can try to make another buck off you. It is rather depressing. I don't do facebook, twitter, and the rest of the social media. GA is one of my few on-line habits.

The above quote sounds like it came from a Pats fan.....

Poor Carlos, stereotypes Ethan before we actually find much of anything about him. J's speculation that Ethan attended a catholic military boarding elementary school as well sounds depressing. Like Matt said in the story, the kid was in an orphanage. No visits home over the summer or during other school breaks. There could be enough anger there that Ethan wants nothing to do with Wade, his family or the extended CAP family. And what if he is homophobic, which is also a possibility.... We still have to get through Robbie's memorial, which Will indicates Brad has made extravagant. So much to finish and now I'm beginning to wonder where the next book in the saga will start?
-
Well Ethan has been partially revealed as having a Cuban mother and living on the left coast. Being a virtual orphan since the age of 7 sucks big time. Jeremy's idea about a catholic military elementary boarding school sounds interesting but also possibly horrible. Wade is as usual; responsible, caring, concerned and dutiful. Will's meeting with Tony does serve to tie up some loose ends. He exposes Rick as the scumbag, lets Tony know about his mom's confrontation with Will and that she knows Tony is gay. All pretty shocking from Tony's contorted view of things. That it ended with sex was not surprising. That it was no longer earth-shattering for Will was also revealing only to him. I also suspect that the next weekend in the saga dealing with Robbie's memorial and the meeting with Ethan will be emotional.

The mustard based sauce is a nice change but I actually prefer the tomato based sauces most of the time, especially with baby back ribs.

Of course Calvert now has a ship and who knows how long George will be delayed. Calvert could be back out to sea before George gets home. And like Westie said, it appears they all will come out fairly rich for the time.

Another interesting and upsetting chapter. I need a score card to keep it all straight and I haven't made one up yet!

Bronco's at Colt's on Sunday night football. How sweet it is!

Being in the military means dependents and loved ones are uprooted due to re-assignments all the time. They deal with it because that's the way it is. Most people have no clue how hard it is or how often it happens. These people all sacrifice so much and their families do too. Thanks to all our veterans and their understanding families.

Deciding to make the most of their remaining time together so they can maintain while separated is an example of clear thinking. Something that is needed when facing life altering situations. My comfort food varies with the seasons. A quart of Haagen-Dazs cookie dough chip is my current one!

Mark knows what it means to be deployed to a war zone. Been there, done that and it sucks. So little time and they just are on their second get together. So sweet and so precious.

Something is really making Trey needy and I think Daithi and Lisa were on to something. Again, I'm lucky I can immediately go to the next short chapter!

Oh you tease! I want to hear what Trey has to say. Oh well I get to read the next chapter now!
