The Rider's Pride - Prologue. Introduction

The world of Pern, as created by Anne McCaffrey have long been a favorite of mine. She has rather graciously granted permission for the posting of fan fiction stories online in accordance with guidelines and rules listed at http://www.annemccaffrey.net/index.php?page_id=20 If you have never read any of her stories, I encourage you to purchase them from an online retailer or your local bookstore. Like Anne McCaffrey herself, I recommend starting with her original book about Pern, Dragonflight. My personal favorite remains Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern.

I wish to give my personal thanks to Anne McCaffrey for not only creating the world of Pern, but for showing people like me, ordinary gay men, living their lives as part of society, both good and bad. Her works have long given me hope for a better future…for all of us.

The button for this story was made by Philip Reynaldi, a member here at Gay Authors. Be sure to give him a shout out of thanks!

Hmmm ... I guess I'm disappointed that you've started a new story instead of returning to stories about Dalen, Worthington or Garrett. I'm going to hold off reading this one until I know if it ends in a cliffhanger. There's no satisfaction for me if a story lingers out there with no resolution.

We are reposting stories, getting all of the Book 1's or stand alone stories (like Riders) out before going back and start posting book 2 of the different series.

This story is completely stand-alone and with the epilogue puts the words "The End" Stamped there firmly and without a doubt. Now if you can read it without crying, you're doing better than me. I bawl my head off every time I read it and I wrote the damn thing

Way back when... A friend, who knew I loved science fiction, gave me a book to read: The White Dragon. OK, this was science fantasy, not a genre I had read before. But to humor my friend, I started reading the dang thing - and was instantly hooked. Before I finished the book, I had gone out and bought the four previous books and read them first.

I came across this story a few years ago and am now reading it again.

It is one of those fan-fiction novels that stayed very true to Ann McCaffrey's own writings. I'm going to really enjoy re-reading this tale.

I had finished reading "Red Star Rising" in hardback while we are in Lockdown (Sydney Australia) and went online for more and found GA and here I am. Your story was the perfect follow on and I would have been willing to pay for the privilege of reading your work. Brilliant,  kind, thoughtful and true to the Anne McCaffrey world and style,  ***** 5 stars, recommended
