Dragonriders of Pern - Stories

Jevikel is the eldest son of a Holder, living at an isolated farmhold on the eastern edge of Bitra. Duty has been drummed into him from birth; he must follow in his father’s footsteps by marrying and raising a family who will do exactly the same in their turn. But when his cousin Kadin arrives at the Hold, he realises he can’t hide his secret feelings any longer.

You may already be familiar with the world of Pern, as created by Anne McCaffrey, but if you need a quick refresher, here it is.

Shortly after the end of the Eighth Pass, five of the six Weyrs on Pern are found empty. Zalna, a junior weyrwoman at Benden Weyr, tries to discover what might have caused all the other weyrfolk and dragons to disappear and where they could have gone.

D'gar and S'brin, along with their clutchmates, learn about fighting Thread, love and loss.

The Eighth Pass is over. At Fort Weyr, D’gar, Herebeth’s rider faces the future without his weyrmate, lost to Thread just two Falls before the last.
When Lessa brings the five Weyrs forward to the beginning of the Ninth Pass, he must face his fears, try to adapt to an altered world and take the risk of falling in love all over again.

After D'gar and S'brin have Impressed their dragons, they move into the weyrling barracks to begin the process of becoming fully-fledged dragonriders.

Towards the end of the Eighth Pass, two Weyrbred boys wait to see if they will be successful in Impressing a dragon.

The Southern Weyr project is coming to an end. H'rek and Rioth prepare for the return to Benden Weyr to fight Thread.

H'rek's Rioth is mature enough for her first mating flight, but he's not at all certain how he feels about that.

It's the first Hatching at the newly formed Southern Weyr. A group of candidates ponder over whether they will be lucky enough to Impress.
