Street Words - 7. Chapter 7 Tommy Was A Street Kid

Thanks to The Who and their rock opera Tommy.

Tommy was a Street Kid - thanks to The Who / Tommy

See me,
a child, a life, don’t abandon me.

Feel me,
know my pain, my hunger, my suffering

Touch me,
hold my hand, hug me, dry my tears

Heal me.
listen, don’t judge, love me.

"See, me. feel me, touch me..." I can hear Roger Daltrey so clearly. I saw this at the theater when it first came out... such a wonderful poem... a cry to be acknowledged... someone, please care... once again you made me feel... I find myself wondering if this is newer... cheers... Gary...

Once a street kid always a street kid Gary. Thanks for reading and for your comments.

I really love how you pay homage to the The Who with this one :D

I feel a sense of hope when I read the "Heal me" line. That maybe, when a person finally sees the 'street kid' things will be all right eventually. :)

Thanks for this poem Tim

Maybe one day there wont be anymore street kids, Drew. Thanks for reading and your comments. I especially appreciate your support.

I guess what's at play is a toughness that's hard to crack. But that does not lessen the basic human need to love and be loved.

This poem again reminds me that we pass by people in pain everyday and perhaps are too wrapped up in ourselves to even glance down.

Another thought-provoking poem, Tim. Glad you posted it.
