April Musings - 4. NaPoWriMo 2016 - Week Two
Poem #7
Breath of Life
Animating essence coalesced into
Claymation figures,
Mere golems without it.
Poem #8
Slumbering, she waits,
ready to perk up
at a moment’s notice
to happily release the
elixir of life.
Poem #9
I want to be famous to
Toe-tapping, frowning people waiting in lines.
As the polite, patient reminder that being a jerk
Will not get your groceries scanned faster.
Poem #10
Words
The intimacy of ink on paper has been
Replaced by Times New Roman or
Arial glowing incandescently as
indifferent fingers rely on auto-correct instead of
Knowledge.
Poem #11
Spring is a flibbertigibbet,
Gaily flouncing from
Warm sunshine on green sprouts to
A whirligig of blinding thundersnow,
Besmirching her reputation as
Nature’s golden child with her shenanigans.
Poem #12
I was thirsty for education,
So I enrolled.
Ten years and three degrees later,
I matriculate the college of life,
Fact rich, but knowledge poor.
I was thirsty for travel,
So I drove all day and night
Until there was no more road,
Then turned around and drove back.
I was thirsty for companionship,
So I turned to the internet
Leaving my body sated
But soul unquenched.
I was thirsty,
But realized along the way
That the well to drink from
Is always there if you know
Where to look.
