Cozy Contemplations - 33. Chapter 33 Piano Bar

Inspired by my miniature roses, and what they mean to me, I set out to write this poem a few weeks ago. However, my muse had other ideas, and instead, I wrote a story called Our Bar. My muse, and yellow roses, brought me back to this.

*****

Piano Bar

Miniature yellow roses

Perfect in their purity

Bloom in abundance

In an old tin pail

On my veranda

They are a reminder of

When love bloomed,

In the depths of winter

We didn’t expect it,

You, nor I

The instant warmth

That became heat

And quickly love,

With an earnest

Commitment to try

We did try

And we rejoiced

In the gift bestowed

Upon us

For the years we had

I will always have roses

Like the ones you brought

To a man under the weather

The day after meeting

For the first time

Your arrival at my door

With sweet nervousness

And genuine concern

Touched me deeply

And still does to this very day

Alas, despite careful tending

Roses, and love,

Don’t always survive

The elements

That batter away at them

These blooms will fade

And the petals will drop

As fall turns into

The season it all began,

One night in a piano bar

That doesn’t mean

I can’t relive such beauty

Each and every year

Their time may have passed

But spring will come again

And I will remember the music….

This is not just a poem, it is a written statement that is a testament to a past love. It is a beautifully written expression of a love that is still treasured. I followed the link from Our Bar so I could read this and was not disappointed, the two pieces of work compliment each other so well that either could be the main feature supported by the other.

Thank you for sharing.

I truly appreciate you, my friend. Poetry tends to be buried after initial posting, so it makes my day to have one brought to light. I bare my soul in a lot of my poetry, and that vulnerability makes me a better writer, IMO. This poem is special to me, a personal one, as is the story "Our Bar".
