Cozy Contemplations - 35. Chapter 35 I Will Always Cry for You

An old man's indulgence...

                                                                                                                                                                                       ***

I Will Always Cry For You

As the world flashes by

At its break-a-neck pace

My one treasured constant

Is to picture your face

Though you’re not aware

Of the depths I still feel

I assure you that my love

Has not bent to time’s wheel

The most bittersweet moments

Will strike from out of the blue

Reminding me of my truth

That I’ll always cry for you

I am well and far removed

From the times we blithely shared

Yet decades sapping my youth

Touched not my pure love bared

Truly, the magic of this life

Lies in the passions I cling to

With no dimming of desire

When I conjure visions of you

When final breaths are ensured

And all my payments come due

Just know you had my truest love

And I’ve always cried for you

Ode

Gather me in your arms

And cool my fevered brow

Whisper of your love for me

I need to hear it now

Don’t wait another lifetime

To utter words you’ve hidden

Let your heart fly open

And soar to where you’re bidden

Come to me my love

Break all your maddening rules

Care not what others think

Refuse to suffer fools

I’ll wait for you as always

Beyond my final breath

Praying for our miracle

Whether it be in life or death

Too much time to think... and regret. Thanks for reading.

May at least one of those tears be a happy one, born of times fondly spent and not the emptiness of loss.

Tragic, powerful, and beautiful, Gary. These remind me of the paired poems of Goethe, particularly Prometheus and Ganymed. Two opposed viewpoints, two emotions, intrinsically bound by a single individual.

Comfort can be found even in memories tinged with sadness... and some love can endure for eternity. :) Thanks for your thoughts, Dan.

Yearning and remembrance breathe through both of these. I can feel the ache. Hugs.

Thank you, Parker.

I'm sorry my dear friend, but the beauty and eternal truth of these words have left me speechless.
There are just too many visceral emotions brought forth here for me to give voice to them in any way that my words could make clear....
Immense respect and awe for these jewels.

Aww... thank you, CG. When my poetry stirs deep emotions, I am humbly thankful. Words have so much power, don't they? That's the beauty of poetry for me. Immense respect is returned, my friend. Thank you.

There's a sense of regret to these verses, and I can see you feel deeply about the things you've said. I think we all have someone in our lives that inspires these somewhat sad remembrances. Expressing them is good for you.

I will say one thing: I'll bet when you whispered sweet nothings into your guy's ear, he took notes! :)

Sometimes too deeply, I think. But, hey, what can you do?  I find solace in poetry... and remembering can have sweetness to it, no matter the yearning.

And, yeah, I do whisper a lot. Don't know about any note taking, though. :)  Thanks, Geron.
