Cozy Contemplations - 11. Chapter 11 Hero and Being Me

Just some fun....

Cozy Contemplations

Chapter 11 Hero and Being Me

Being Me

A damn good sleep

And the sun is shining

A spot of tea

And al fresco dining

A bowl of fruit

In my birthday suit

A gentle breeze wafts

And my troubles are moot

We must take joy

Wherever we find it

Set issues in a box

And mold them to fit

This day is mine

To be enjoyed

I can feel a peace

And my spirits are buoyed

Hero

In mythical days of old

The heroes were all bold

Rescuing damsels in distress

Without rumpling their fancy dress

Dragons and demons were slayed

While children laughed and played

It was a time for shining glory

And great fodder for a story

But that was another time

Much more fitting for a rhyme

I live in modern days

And can only wish for those ways

Alas I have no knight

No prince for me who’ll fight

A daring rescue will not be mine

And there’ll be no love-laced wine

For me they live in books

Fighting giants and Captain Hooks

I guess it’ll have to do

But I’ll not give up on you

Thanks for reading... and yes, I really do eat fruit in my birthday suit... upon occasion :)

'I guess it’ll have to do

But I’ll not give up on you'

Something I love about ur poem is that it almost always have a positive note!!

Being me seemed to describe u on ur everyday life, sweet, short n so u ;)

Hero reminded me all the fairy tales that I read as a kid n thought them to be true n thought one day a prince charming would sweep me off my feet!! But as I grew, I realized this world is big bad place with lots of judgemental people n no prince in shining armor (in fact there r wolves in human skin). It felt like u too r recalling those childhood days. Only difference is I gave up on the idea long back but u still r hoping! Sometimes I wish I had some of ur spirit n positivity!!

Thanks, Aviana. We always have to have hope our prince will come :) . I've had enough negativity to last me the rest of my life... and I have about fifteen poems I won't post because they are all about that.  These are meant to be positive and fun, so I'm pleased you felt that. Yeah, Being Me was one very warm morning on my veranda, just enjoying the day, and appreciating that I had found some previously elusive sleep. And yes, fairy tales are great for kids, but as grownups we see them for what they are. Still, there is a message in them that has merit... maybe those heroes don't exist, but that doesn't mean we should accept less than we deserve. We can lead that noble life, and dream our dreams.  As always, I thank you for your kindness, and your astute perceptions   Cheers... Gary....

These were all great, my dear friend.  Eating fruit in my birthday suit?  Not being the athletic type, my b-suit doesn't fit right, so it's seldom on display...but it's had some one-on-one encounters and adventures where it seemed to please the other similarly clad explorer.  I guess it's most erotic episode was when Kevin talked me into letting him shave me--that was fun, and led to one of our most amazing times for us both.  I think my b-suit fit better after that, though it remained between the two of us.

Seems I remember a story where the Questor wasn't exactly the hero, but the dragon...a hero can appear from the most unlikely of sources, you just have to be vigilant for the opportunity to be rescued.  :)   I kept my eyes open and found my longest and best hero in a man even his cousin had warned me off of--maybe it wasn't fairy-tale perfect, but he sought me out, and I think we played a role in rescuing each other from the spectre of loneliness.

These were fun, and I guess I'm being philosophical because I've been reading some great stories by a wonderful guy who live to be only seventeen.  He planned four more chapters to one of his novellas, and his site mentions a contest for writers to submit an ending for it, but so far, no one has.

Back to my lair and my quills and parchment....

Sleep.....that very elusive butterfly.  At this stage in my life, when I catch that butterfly I'm on top of the world the next day. :D  Don't know about eating fruit in my birthday suit....the fruit might run away screaming. haha. Fighting giants and Captain Hooks was a wonderful line that reminded me of my days of using tree branches as swords and being the swashbuckling pirate queen and using a blanket as a cape as I played Superman.  Oh wait, that was last week:gikkle:  I'm writing the last 4 lines of Being Me and putting them in my cubicle at work. If that's ok with you?  Thanks for the uplift.

'A bowl of fruit In my birthday suit' is still one of my favourite lines    Like the others I love the positivity in these poems. You've always been a bright light for me here, and it's wonderful to see a glimmer of that light making a resurgence

The nice thing about my veranda is it's completely private ;) . I think all our birthday suits fit for the person who loves us, and that's all that matters. I guess my point in this is I don't want to give up on my fairy tale. To give up is to let something in us die. You always have the most wonderful reviews... you really make me think, buddy... I'm pleased you found them fun. Have fun in your lair with your quills... and thanks for your comments... much love... cheers... Gary xoxo

Hey, LadyDe! Isn't that the truth... getting a good sleep makes all the difference in my day too. I m pleased you liked the Captain Hooks line... I try to hold onto those days, at least in my mind. I remember feeling safe only after I built a fort somewhere.... And yeah, feel free to use anything I write... it's quite a compliment, my friend. Thanks for making me smile... I expect that from you :) Cheers... Gary.... xo

He he. I'm glad you liked it. I'm trying my best to be positive every day... it's not easy, but necessary. You're a bright light for me too... we can share that glimmer of light... thank you, dear friend... cheers... Gary xoxo

Both poems are light hearted and lovable.  I got a chuckle from picturing nature boy, in the buff, drinking tea and acting tough.  The second was a great summary of love from the idyll concepts of youth to the truth of love as an adult.  I do enjoy this lighter side of you Gary.

It was a great beginning to my day. And yes, I do have a fun side. :)  Thanks, buddy.
