Light & Dragonflies: Nature Poems/Love Poems - 2. A velvet lea
.
Dein Auge
ist eine samtene Wiese
über alle Hügel des Abends
und deine Lippen sind zu schwer
für ein leichtes Wort
Deine Gedanken
sind vor den Fingern des Todes
der sich zersehnt
ein Tanz des Glücks
Schließ mich ein
in die wilden Rosen
deines Bluts
Dein Atem
ist die Wiege des Sommers [i]
---------------------------------
How your eye
is like a velvet lea marking
where the hills and vales of evening race
and your lips are too pendulous
for a breezy word
The thoughts in your head
are a dance of gladness before
death’s fingers, which
yearn to lock me
in the wild roses
that effortlessly spring from
your lifeblood
for how your breath
is like the cradle of summer
