Twinks in Space: Destination Unknown - Part One - 35. Chapter 35 - The Other Bounty Hunter

Another bounty hunter?

On a stealth spacecraft called the Nebularider, a bounty hunter named Golvinte was at the controls. He had been following his quarry around the universe, biding his time and waiting for the right moment to spring his trap, and Golvinte was patient.

The Red Star mercenaries had reached out to him after one of their affiliates was the target of an attack. This was not Golvinte’s first bounty from the Red Stars, but this target proved to be well-protected, and so far impossible to apprehend. Golvinte was used to hunting warriors, and he suspected this hunt would be no different. The specific target was not a warrior himself, but he had surrounded himself with warriors. Golvinte was just waiting for the perfect moment, and he was very patient.

The bounty hunter went over his list of the target’s key associates, and he considered that the situation was finally turning in his favor.

Lyoth, the ex-Guild of Houses agent, was trapped on a cargo shuttle with the woman named Stawren. Golvinte’s files contained less information about her than the others, but he had witnessed her prowess in battle and her skill with a blaster. Stawren was undoubtedly formidable, and she was not to be underestimated, but she and Lyoth were out of the picture, at least temporarily.

Golvinte pulled up the pertinent details about Captain Suoki, a former high-ranking officer. He was also one to be reckoned with, but it had been several years since the captain’s last military encounter, and Golvinte knew he had been living a lavish life on the Ulaa-Lah. The bounty hunter’s target was currently with the ex-captain and someone Golvinte was certain he could reason with, a fellow bounty hunter. He had never met Madam Fonith, but Golvinte was a successful bounty hunter, and he had a lot of money. He was confident that when the time came, she could be bought.

The tracking beacon he managed to attach to madam Fonith’s ship at the Red Stars base was relaying the message that her vehicle was no longer moving. A starmap told him where it was docked.

“Now that the Cometskipper has landed in Boullia Bay,” Golvinte growled, “I’m coming to get you, Phentrom.”

I believe we just found our mystery bumper.

If the Red Stars already had Phentrom as they did at the base, why was this hunter still on the trail?

And why target Phentrom? He's had the most passive role of all of them in their activities.

I believe we have some answers to some of the mysteries, the only reason they are after Phentrom must be because he's become sentient...
