Subversive - A Collection of Poetry - 2. The Trail We Blaze

The Trail We Blaze

My sense of adventure blooms when I get to hold

hands with another boy and not immediately be

considered his brother or his friend

or be afraid for his security or mine

My sense of adventure takes flight when a girl asks out

a boy and not immediately be considered a whore or gets

to say no to a boy when she doesn't like him

or likes another girl may be

My sense of adventure marches on when the true worth

of a human being's emotions is not weighed on the chunks

of flesh they carry or the skeletons in the closets they hide

or the gold in their pockets

Stuff like this shouldn't be topics of poetry

but off paper these letters have little worth

In my dreams, Tulio gets to kiss Miguel

I guess, the words on paper have worth. It is like throwing a stone into the lake. Ideas tend to cause little waves, sometimes not easy to realize. :-)

Beautiful thoughts.

You really think stuff like this shouldn't be topics of poetry!!!? Each and every thought can ne mould into a beautiful poem. There no restrictions, nor even boundaries. Love what we do. And do what we love. Even these troubling thoughts were put into this beautiful poem. Like Lyssa said, everything matters. Even the small waves.

Love,

~Emi.

Yes! I do believe that. But how far does that ripple spread that is the question.

Thank you for reading, My Kindred Lady.

It's true that anything can be the topic of poetry, but it is Love which is the truest voice of a poet.

"Journeys end in lovers meeting..."

Thank you for reading.

I love this poem. It should be important reading and it is ageless, IMO.

That is quite a high praise, especially coming from poet extraordinaire.

Yes, truly the topic is ageless. Discrimination, Gender Equality, Xenophobia are all eternal problems.

Which is why poets hold a constant vigilance against these.

Thank you for reading.

Thank you for reading.

A new journey begins from there too. Just like a river floated towards rocks and they change directions...
