Life of a Pet

   (7 reviews)

Hunting was all I knew. Stalking prey, selling meat, and making pelts... Life was calm, but then I was found sleeping. What's to come is untold. May the divine bless my soul.

A thank you goes to my co-worker, Cameron, for beta-reading before posting.

@astone2292 takes us into one of his unique worlds. Be prepared. It's a weird place. (But so is he 😘

It seems that Orcs rule and humans are subpar in this world. That is until one of them decides his pet might not be quite so inferior after all!

Thanks for an interesting story for the Secret Author contest. It was different..... in a really good way.

Response from the author:

Oh, come on. I'm not that weird.

Other than that, thanks for the review, K!

An intriguing and interesting tale about a human that is captured by another race of beings.  It discusses the revulsion, contempt, and distrust his captors display toward him as he tries to assimilate into their society.  I, for one, am left to wonder what it might be like if I found myself in a similar situation.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the awesome review, Bill! Glad you enjoyed Ewel's journey of acceptance.

Not sure i'd like to be an Orc's pet, but never say never!  Are they like Tolkien's Orcs?  Or more like Klingons from Star Trek?  Both are kinda scary.

No matter this tale is unique and a good read!  Enjoy!

Response from the author:

I'd have to think long and hard about being an orc's pet. The major bright side is having to follow a big, burly man with muscles... Yum.

A fantastic addition to the Secret Authors 2023.

An entertaining tale where we learn about Orcs, well things we may have overlooked.

A fantastic tale, that's well worth a read.

Response from the author:

Thanks for reviewing, Chris! I'm tickled pink, I mean green you enjoyed my take on orcs.
