Loving Fiercely: How I Resist - 15. Chapter 15: An Ode to the Fallen Tree that Continues to Grow

Like some of you, I've suffered a loss during this uncertain and scary times due to this virus. My self-soothing led me to writing, and I wrote this piece with these losses in mind. Be safe and take care everyone ❤️.

RIP Grandad

The flowers that grew on top the tree stump

Were a peculiar sight for me to see

How do the plants of this amorphous lump

Come to defy what they were meant to be?

The loss of the strong trunk that once stood tall

Withering of leaves on fragile branches

It’s weight became too hard for it to bear

And what was once sky high would come to fall

Life in theory holds no second chances

But the flowers on the stump chose to dare

You see these flowers contain such strong roots

Products of the fallen tree before them

They have succeeded in reaping its loots

Wisdom entwined within each sturdy stem

We are the garden it's cultivated

Existing as the pedals, the leaves, and weeds

Taking on colors of purple and green

Its resources are never depleted

We are blessed to carry on as its seeds

Behold, a testament to what we glean

Maybe it was God’s miraculous sway

Or a product of the Devil defied

The death of the powerful tree made way

For its children to become glorified

The pain it leaves is a force to be dealt

Our loss an ever-present reminder

Of the physical realm we leave behind

The love it has given is always felt

The tree basks in a space much quieter

In our collective hearts, spirit, and mind

Thank you for reading.
